  1. Crystal, You have every right to feel this way. And about this... HELLOOOO.... this isnt a time for you to GIVE support, its a time for receiving. Weve ALL been through some type of physical or emotional crisis - thats when we lean on other to make it through the desert. I say everyone that reads this thread - say a prayer (or the white light, healing vibe) for Crystal.
  2. Jachnut, I knew the frozen kids meals were harmful - but what about the 'healthy' ones, like - Lean Cuisene? Also, do any of you give your kids Vitamins and "green" suppliments (like Yummy Greens)?
  3. awe John - WHY are you leaving???? This place is so much more then just about weight issues. Im repeating everyone else here... cant you just come back and visit every now and then? We're gonna miss you.... you sexy thang!
  4. Of coarse there is! Men have their needs... and WE have ours! *wink* Angel, Im excited about you doing your experiement with this. Let us know what you find.
  5. How Funny! Congrat's on the "sloppy" NSV. The way you're losing - the lap thing is gonna be VERY soon. wOOt!!!
  6. Paula, I liked your answer. I agree, ok, so why cant they take the BAD part (that caused the heart valve troubles) and just give us the good part. I dont need the energy - losing 60 something pounds has given me that. Just give me the mental part of the drug... thats ALL I want and need. :clap2:
  7. Julie - I like this idea. Just like Jane saying that junk food is for "parties" only. You two get a high-five for this!
  8. Wow - Vera. Thats what a school SHOULD do! Darcey, this is my 5yr old. Eats till shes full - then stops. LOVES veggie/fruits. Her "treat" at the grocery store is a bowl of fresh mixed fruit. She prefers this over candy. Right now she is in front of the tele with carrot chips. PLUS - she's my most active one (probably ADHD). Regards to this - she is way bigger then Marcus was as at this age. Another strange gene thing. question: do you think the frozen dinners (like W/W Smart ones) are 'safe' to give kids?
  9. Hi Pati-o, so glad to hear your good news. Please explain to us banded bunch what esophageal erosion means. Would this be like an ulcer in the esophagus?
  10. Stacey, Each of us are different. I remember Alexandrea saying that SHE can eat ANYTHING as long as the bites were small enough. Most of us must avoid these soft doey (rice, pasta) foods, but some dont! There's thing wrong with ya!
  11. Jane, thats a great idea about the little baggies with the serving amount. Never thought about that one. Thats good! Whats funny is I dont think that ANY of us keep junk food around our homes - esp. on a regular basis. U]Our[/u] biggest junk food is ceral, but we also keep oranges, cheese squares, pretzels, wheat thins around as a staple. And soda's are only bought when one is sick, like sprite for a stomach bug. I dont even allow juicy juice drinks - too many calories and they drink the entire cartons in like 15 minutes. So we are big on Water. (poor kids - thats all they have) We bought the type of fridge that has the water and ice dispenser - that way they get water as needed and they think its cool to have a bit of independence by getting their own ice/drink. I do allow sunny delight orange drink and milk. They dont abuse either one, so I think these are safe in MY home. Alex, 2 girls, both from same parents. One has the gene, other one dosent. Strange huh? My older sister and I were just like your two girls. She didnt have the "eat all the time" gene... i did and still do. (she is now deceased) My girl friend has this "bargin" with her kids. 1 hour of exercise/outside play/anything NOT in front of a square. And they have earned 1 hour of square time. 1 for 1.
  12. My goodness, youve got ME excited for YOU! So glad you are home, happy and healthy! We were lost without our Delarla!
  13. My grand's were big people. Mike's grands were big people. Our parents (all 4) fight weight issues. I have the band. Mike NEEDS the band (LOL). What does this mean? As much as I LOVE my 3 kids and seek perfection for each of them, Im learning to accept the idea that its in their genes to eventually become overweight. My mother loved me so much that she stayed on me constantly about my weight. She thought that by constanly creating imbarrasement by my size/looks, that it would motivate me to change. Didnt work. Only made me super insecure and uncomfortable to be in the presence of others... which made me want to eat more. Ha! I have chosen NOT to fight MY kids obesity this way. My 10 year old boy is eating me out of house and home. Mike says this is normal for a growing boy. Im sure it is. But in the mean time, Im trying REALLY hard to PREVENT obesity in him. So, Ive done alot of thinking about this lately. His diet is loaded with carbs. He is my most particular eater - HATES veggies. Due to the carb filled diet, his energy level is lowered. Playing video games and watching tv were his favorite things to do. So? My effort has been to reduce the carbs, which has increased his energy levels. Something Ive done lately (and Im giving it as an idea for you)... weekends are the worst for his eating ALL day. So Ive tried this and found that it works. When he has eaten 15, 30 min's - even an hour earlier, and comes to me complaining that he's hungry; I tell him to drink the largest glass of Water - wait 1 hour - THEN he can eat again. Might be a little controling on my part, but Im trying really hard to establish the difference between head hunger vs real hunger. And during the hour long wait for MORE food, Im usually successful in getting him involved in house duties. Yesterday he and I did yard work together. When we were done, he reminded me that he didnt wait 1 hour - but nearly 3 hours. He was proud of that. I thought that was a sign of success. Anyway, Im wanting other parents to give ideas with their battle to help obesity in kids. This is real. At least in MY home it is.
  14. me neither. I think Wheetsin lied. (LOL) Have you had any more problems? Just wondering, think it has to do with what we eat the day before - then the nighttime fasting - then the sweet (delish) morning coffee. Lastnight I had a salad for supper, then a low carb yogurt for dessert. This morning, after my coffee rush, I had NO problems. No drop in B/S. hmmmm, its got me thinkin'!
  15. Lisa?? YooHoo... LBT is looking for you!
  16. Hi Sky, When I was banded, I felt zero restriction until the morning of my first fill - which was exactly 4 weeks after banding (to the day). I went ahead with the fill and didnt gain -NEW- restricion until weeks after THAT (maybe 3?). My guess is that you may be like some of us and not gain restriction until later... which is very commen. Ill try to do some digging and see if I can find some threads relating to this delayed restriction.
  17. Cashley, I completely understand where you are coming from. As much as Im a thinker - Ive never thought of that one. hmmm...
  18. I loved Phenfen. First month I took it, I dropped 16 pounds. Second month I lost 12.... loved it. My only problem was that by the 3rd month, my mind was always so pre-occupied. Seems like I stayed in a day-dream. Didnt feel like eating, didnt even THINK about eating. Who does when they are spaced out??? LOL
  19. ((Holy crapola... youve lost nearly 40 pounds in a month???? high-five to you!!!)) - Tortillas (white, wheat, corn?) NO, only eat hard shells like chips, hard taco etc - salad (what kind of lettuce can you eat?) Yes, no problems. I eat mostly green/red leaf - Hard breads (pretzels, crackers, melba, etc.) yes, all of them, but very slowly. - "Fluffy" breads (pancakes, waffles, muffins) No. I know these will get stuck. - Ground meats (turkey, chuck, sirloin...)Yes - all mentioned, no problems - Shellfish/crustaceans (scallops, shrimp, crab, lobster, mussels...) Yes - Hard cereal (grape nuts, oat bran, etc.)Another Yes. No problems with ANY cerals... - Hard cheeses Yes. This is another easy food for me.
  20. try drinking some milk.... and if No relief, call your surgeon!
  21. HI Laine - WELCOME to LapBandTalk.com 2 and 1/2 stone in roughly 6 weeks? Thats awesome! ...another UK friend. WELCOME WELCOME!
  22. FYI: I live in the south and right now (this week) Kroger stores has the W/W Smart ones for $1.00 - but you have to buy 10 to get them for a buck each. Anyway, some of my fav's are: 1. Grilled chicken in Garlic Herb Sauce 180 cal., 10 carbs, 19g protien 2. Creamy Parmesan Chicken 210 cal., 12 carbs, 23g protien 3. Turkey Medallion W/ mushroom grav. 200 cal., 11 carbs, 18g protien I also like the salsbury steak one. What I do is look at the pic on the box and if there isnt anything like potatoes, rice, noodles - then I know its safe for me to eat. These 3 things give the dinner more cal's and carbs (everyone knows this already) - plus its virtually impossible for me to get these past my band. So if the pic is band friendly, usually the cal/carb list is too. *I always add a dash of cajun seasoning to my dinners - this helps make ANYTHING tasty!*
  23. Hi Barky, Funny you ask, there is another thread with basically the same question floating around here this morning.... http://lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?p=188789#post188789 The diarrhea is normal for post op. Actually, its welcomed by most of us. I always felt that it was the body's way of ridding it of the toxins weve been holding for some time. On the other thread, Kathy/Best, me suggested Aloe Vera juice. I agree, this is good stuff for our healing tummys. Cheap, easy and natural.
  24. Hey Girl, Yes, I had this discomfort about a week post surgery. It reminded me of the days when my untreated ulcer would flare. I took 2 self-prescribed pepcid (chewables - OTC) at night before bedtime, cause it seemed to be worst at night - sometimes the pain even woke me up. The pepcid helped. And eating REAL food helped.
  25. Amy - Youve come to the right place for prayer - so many momma's that can relate. God bless~
