  1. Manda you and I must have the same banding date 10/17. I also did my pre op stuff today and while there I got an email from my surgeons office that they got my insurance approval today!!
  2. Disclaimer I worked medical billing and Insurance Accounts Receivable previously and now I am an RN: I researched all of the requirements of my health insurance plan with UHC. I obtains all of the proof of my 6 months of supervised diet with my PCP that I had been actually doing for 1 year. I wrote my OWN letter of Medical Necessity with my Health info and my Family Medical History. Did my Psych eval and Required Dietician. They sent for approval on 9/25 and I was APPROVED today the first time around. Not bad considering I first went to my surgeon's Seminar on 9/11/13 Surgery set for 10/17/13. I got my email while doing registration for my Labs, Chest Xray and EKG today. I am so excited. Next Friday is my Pre Op visit/weigh in hoping my scale stops the jerk around it's been doing.
  3. Ok so we live about 1 hour from the hospital that I am having surgery at. I want to pack a bag so I have my needs covered on the way home just in case I need something and to have my laptop with me as well. So Far in my bag I plan to have my my laptop, my Itouch, Gas X, Going to have my a Pillow in the car for the ride home. Any other suggestions for my bag of tricks?
  4. unjury.com I LOVE them I am gonna try their protein'd cheese sauce once it comes back in season.
  5. Have my Chocolate shake in the AM and I have Unjury Chicken soup for either Lunch or Dinner depending on which meal I choice for my "real food"
  6. Pre op diet started yesterday one day earlier (I previously calculated my start date incorrectly). Yesterday was rough with a headache by the end of my 12 hour shift and a massive mood swing with uncalled for over reaction to an action of my spouse did that caused me to yell in front of our children about things they don't need to know about. Followed by him calling me out in it later and calling me a name. Today was a much better day no emotional outbursts and no headache.
  7. I am so excited I went to sleep last night thinking of buying a small food processor
  8. I am debating whether or not to start my pre op diet early. I don't have to start until 10/3/13 however; I might start this Thursday instead. I only am required to lose 5 lbs before surgery but I want to start early to make sure that I stay on track.
  9. My mandatory psych eval and dietician visit was done today. I just to have Labs, Chest Xray and EKG plus done. Along with Surgery Clearance from my doctor. Then lose 5 lbs by 10/11/13. I am almost there surgery date is 10/17/13. This really went fast for me. I am waiting for a glitch but none so far.
  10. Got my date Oct 17!!!
  11. I am currently in my doctors office waiting for my consult visit when I will get my surgery date. I am so nervous!!! I feel like I am shaking inside although it's not showing on the outside. I will be even more of a wreck on Monday for my psych eval. After working two days on the busy Ortho Neuro floor and dietician group class with the psych after pray for me on that day. I will post my surgery date after this appt.
  12. Enjoy Jamaica I am jealous but I live in FL so summers are always hot here and nice beaches as well. But not the sparkling turquoise waters of the Caribbean though.
  13. I will get my surgery date this Friday so I should be banded on 10/10 or 10/17. Hoping for 10/17 so I can rearrange two days on my work schedule to give me a week off.
  14. First appointment was fine this visit was insurance and my health history with their LPN. Next Friday is my consultation visit with the surgeon and I will get my surgery date. Then the following Monday is my Dietician visit (I will get my Lap Band Bible) and I will have my Psych eval. This is actually going really smoothly!!
  15. I have never felt like that before or at least not since I was a teenager. So excited! My Consultation is 9/20/13 next Friday and I get my surgery date then. On 9/23/13 I meet with the dietician and do my psych eval. Back to back hopefully. So Surgery date TBA next week. It will be on a Thurs due to my insurance coverage better for me at one location.
  16. Ok waiting in the waiting room today was nerve racking for me. My leg was shaking in the waiting room and that NEVER happens to me. I met with the Insurance Coordinator who thanked me for faxing my letter of med necessity and 6 months of weight loss with Dr ahead of this visit. My next appt is 9/20 w/ Dr Ache (this is when I get my surgery dated. and then 9/23 with dietician and Psych
  17. I set my goal weight at 176 although if possible I would like 165. I used the BMI as well. I haven't met with my doc yet but that is my goal. I was happy at 196 back in the day when I met my husband but I'd love to see a weight on my that I have never seen in my adult life.
  18. Ok I know that this visit is only to go over my insurance however I will get my other appointments scheduled at the same time. I am so excited. It's a good thing that I work a 12 hour hospital shift at work tomorrow or my mind would be way more consumed. I also gave my director a heads up about my possible surgery. Amazingly she asked me for info re lap band for herself as she has been looking in to it. I am really looking forward to this happening ASAP. I am nervous and excited all at the same time.

  20. Thanks GL!! I have a feeling I will be approved between 9/20 & 9/24....however I had to ask. Really nervous here.
  21. I have submitted my letter of medical necessity along with proof of 6 months of physician supervised weight loss and my report from sparkpeople showing my intake and activity for the last 6 months. I am curious as to how long until UHC approves my surgery. Any ideas?
  22. Usually my BP is near perfect even with my HIGH BMI. HOWEVER my BP was high today I was so nervous to ask my PCP to sign my paperwork......happy surprise (even though not really a surprise) he signed the letter of medical necessity and filled out a SOAP note/Progress note regarding my lady 6 months of weight loss attempts. I am gonna attach the report from my food logs for the last 6 months as well ( it shows average calories in for each week, BMR cal burned and calories burned by my activity). I am so excited that I might just fax in ahead of my appt next week. So all thats left is my consultation body, dietician visit and psych eval. Then wait for insurance to approve. This is getting real to me at this point.
  23. Today at 1:30PM I take my later of medical necessity to my primary care physician. He really likes Eatern Medicine so I hope he signs sure me anyway. Just send positive thoughts my way that he will sign (I am pretty sure that he will since he knows my struggle is important). Also send positive thoughts that he will provide me with the documentation of my past 6 months of attempted weight loss that I have done with him. I really need all of my documentation today since I work Tomorrow (Friday) & Mon and Tues followed by my appointment with the insurance coordinator at the Surgeons office on Weds.
  24. I am waiting for my first appointment with the WL surgeon. I know that the surgery will be this year since I have a lot of documentation over the last 6 months re: weight loss attempts. We went to the mall today to see a movie and my 13 y/o daughter had to look at clothes. I almost cried thinking that I might be able to wear some of them in a year or more.
