  1. Your blog was very helpful. I go for my first fill Jan 22. I'm nervous but know I need a fill. I have less and less restriction by each week. I had my first slice of pizza last night and was concerned because I had no issues. About two weeks ago, I had three bites of the inside of a Wendy's chicken wrap and it was stick/full and experienced my first issues. Last week I had almost half of a Cowboy Crunch from Neato Burrito. It contained rice, chicken, sour cream, melted cheese, and sauces. I know I was feeling full and stopped. With no band, I would have stuffed myself to eat the other half. My only concern is, if I'm feeling full, will that fullness eventually push my band to move or slip? I'm always afraid when I do feel full, I'm going to push the band out of place. No reason to be nervous, its a relatively simple procedure compared to what you've been through and it doesn't hurt! I've had 4 fills now and I'm just now starting to lose some weight. It's my own fault because I eat sugar that goes down easy like chocolate which I am doing better with now. I have had popcorn, in small quantities, with no issues. However, the point here is to lose weight so try to focus on healthy Proteins and veggies - saving things like popcorn and chocolate for very special occasions. Good luck with your journey!!
  2. Giving up soda doesn't have to be a punishment... http://www.debbiedanthony.com/dont-fear-the-diet-drink/ What do you think?
  3. If you find that fast-forward button, please share!! lol
  4. Yes! Diet Dr. Pepper is the one thing I still miss the most!!
  5. I was banded on September 27th. I am down only 15 lbs but had no pre-surgery diet so I lost nothing before surgery. I am alot like arch002, I have about 1200 calories a day and exercise 3-5 days a week for 30 minutes. I walk around the parking structure at work during my lunch break at work. I have 7.5 ccs in my band as of my fill yesterday. Currently I am eating 3 meals a day, and a Protein Bar as an afternoon snack. I also use My Fitness Pal to track my food. I am DebbieDAnthony on fitness pal if anyone wants to connect on there...
  6. Yes it is weird but you have lost quite a bit of weight! I've only lost 15 lbs! I'm very frustrated with myself!
  7. Fill went well. Got another 1cc, that makes a total of 7.5cc in my 10cc band. I really hope this helps now because I couldn't schedule another fill until after my honeymoon march 4-12 since I will be flying and the altitude effects the band so they recommended not having my next checkup until I return.
  8. As young as you are if you exercise regularly and lose slowly as recommended (1-2 lbs per week). You may not need the cosmetic surgery. I have met people who have lost 100+ lbs both who have had the cosmetic surgery and who hasn't and the younger you are and the more you exercise as you lose, the better your chances of it tightening up as you go...
  9. I had a stuck episode last night with grilled salmon after being banded 3 1/2 months. I got too hungry and forgot and started shoveling it in...4th bite got stuck Ended up renting my dinner... It's a quick reminder that my lil band friend is still in there doing her job...
  10. It's really a breeze...You are starting one of the most positive steps for your health you could do! Congratulations!! And welcome to the banders group - it's a great group to be part of!!
  11. Congratulations!! Welcome to the banders group!
  12. I remember my 1st fill...does your doctor use the fluoroscope? I explain my experience in a blog post here... http://www.debbiedanthony.com/my-1st-lap-band-fill/ let me know if yours was similar...
  13. thank you!! Getting my next fill tomorrow morning at 10am so hopefully...this will get me closer to green!
  14. I'm down 2.2 lbs today!! My lowest weight so far! maybe I'm over the hump???
  15. intelirish...i understand what you mean. I think not weighing my food and eating carbs with dinner (pasta or tortilla) is holding me up. I drink plenty of water and I try to get 30 min of exercise a day. chocolate is still crack cocaine to me...I can't have it in my house at all! and I struggle with turning it down when I come across it at the doctors office, etc. So I still enjoy a piece from time to time. I'm like you, I'm trying to see this as a new lifestyle and no chocolate in my life is NOT an option...hehe I'm just learning to have a piece if offered and not bring it in the house in bulk...lol I sure hope I hit that point soon where I start dropping some weight...I know it's just a matter of time. I am losing size so I am still very encouraged. That's what this group is for...to keep us all motivated. Thank you for helping me and I will continue to do what I can to help you all!!
  16. You're welcome! I try to stay positive even though it's difficult sometimes since I haven't really lost any weight since the 1st month. I keep going back and forth with the same 5 lbs. I'm really hoping I'm not going to be the one person who can't do this... I just keep telling myself it's a lifetime journey and I've always learned things the hard way so maybe it's just going to take me longer to get the hang of it. I am doing everything right except weighing my meal portions but I stop as soon as I start to feel full and I track every calorie. I'm only getting about 1200 a day on most days and I walk 30 minutes a day 4-5 days a week. Not sure why my body is hanging on to the weight except maybe my prescriptions... Going to talk to my nutritionist tomorrow night at our support group about it... But, I always try to stay positive. I know it will eventually work its just a matter of time...
  17. PuraVida37 & GeorgiaRN - I am SO with you!! It seems like the band is barely there right now. I am really feeling like I am back to dieting mode again and if I was any good at that, I wouldn't of needed the band to start with! I'm glad I'm not the only one who finds weighing daily for motivating, sometimes it's the only thing keeping me from eating all the things that would bury my weight loss and put me back to square one. I have a support group meeting tomorrow night and a fill scheduled for Thursday - only 2 more days... Keep your head up girls, we can do this!! Just remember back to the days right after surgery and what we went thru. We didn't do all that to not succeed now! We have to keep on keeping on

  19. Also, keep in mind, exercising will build muscle and help lose fat but it will keep that scale sitting in the same place. I have not lost much weight at all but I'm trying to stay positive. I know they say not to weigh yourself but I have changed back to weighing myself daily but only writing down my weight on Friday. I need that extra accountability to not snack! My boyfriend is there with me when I weigh so it helps keep me honest during the day knowing I will be getting on the scale the next morning in front of him... After all I have a wedding to look good for. By the way, it will be available to watch on line if anyone is interested let me know...
  20. Congrats on the engagement Debbie. So happy for you. Thank you
  21. WAY TO GO ON THE SHOPPING AND EXERCISE!! Yes, the holidays were distracting to us...we need to get back on here more to keep each other motivated... Fellow banders unite!! lol
  22. I'm with you!! However... I started back on track Monday and I've already lost 1.5 lbs since. I know I'm not supposed to weigh every day but I'm doing an experiment this week weighing each day to see on a daily basis the changes...It helps to keep me motivated to not snack... At the end of the week, I will write down the weight loss for the week as usual but I also want to lose what I can before my next fill next Thursday.
