  1. NOTICE: This blog post has been moved to my new website... http://www.debbiedanthony.com/how-did-you-handle-the-holidays/
  2. Thank you! Yes, congratulations on your engagement!! Here's to a healthy happy future together. We had so many get-togethers throughout the holidays and it's only just started to let up. One thing I found was that at every party there was something appropriate for me to eat. Usually this was something to do with Beans. I ignored the sweets and tried to stay away from cheese as much as possible (a real downfall in my pre-band life). Before I was banded I worried that I wouldn't be able to go out and have a "normal" life -- this proved to be a silly thing to worry about. I did pretty well but I really only maintained my weight. It's hard to tell if this plateau was just going to occur anyway or if it had to do with caloric intake. Either way I'm happy not to have gained weight during the Merry season. I was banded in November and have lost almost 25 pounds. I am happy overall but wishing for the next chunk to start disappearing. This afternoon I go for a fill and I know I really need this as I am quite hungry and able to eat more than the tennis ball sized portion my surgeon recommends -- plus I am hungry again soon after. Not sure why this has changed like this as I did have more satiety earlier on, but it is what it is. Oh, and I exercised on Thanksgiving Day and New Year's Day and as many other days as I could swing it. That is a major milestone in my life. Next year I hope to be wearing sassy little pajamas on Christmas morning when I open my stocking, and I'd like to wear a great Christmas outfit somewhere, not my usual all-black ensemble. That made me laugh, Sharpie! It's so slimming, right? And Terry, the Moose Munch sounds like the crack cocaine of the snack world. Way to go removing that from the house. Great blog, Debbie, you are doing beautifully. Speaking of beauty, are you the Debbie that took the photo at the top of that blog? What a garden! The reason you are feeling hungrier now has to do with the weight you are losing on the inside...read my blog http://www.debbieposton.com/3rd-fill-in-my-lap-band/ Good luck with your fill today! You are doing great and will do even better starting tomorrow!! And Yes, those are all my photos. That one was taken at the Venetian Casino in Las Vegas. Their Holiday decorations. I am an amateur photographer as you can see if you click on the links on the blog site at the top for "MAIN PHOTO PAGE" and "FINE ART PHOTOS". Thank you
  3. Really? Do you live in Henderson? We should chat? Are you going to the support group meeting in January?
  4. i know what you mean...Sometimes just knowing the stuff is in the house makes me want it. My boyfriend and my disabled father both have "man caves" and I make them keep all their junk food there so it's not in my kitchen. It seems as long as I don't know it's there then I'm fine but as soon as I do know it's there....oh no! lol
  5. Thank you! Today starts the beginning of MY new year! Back on track with exercise and eating the right things again. Purged the house of any "left over" holiday stuff! Let's see what this weekend's weigh in gives me!!
  6. I have always struggled from Halloween thru New Year's - gaining about 10 lbs then having to make my New Year's Resolution to lose that 10 lbs plus try to lose what I still have on me.... Read my blog post about my 1st year being banded and tell me your stories... http://www.debbieposton.com/how-did-you-handle-the-holidays/
  7. I wish i had found this yesterday! I blogged about my 3rd fill last night after my dr. appointment here: http://www.debbieposton.com/3rd-fill-in-my-lap-band/ but it would have been nice knowing how it all worked before going in...I was really stressing over the fact that I was having no restriction. I have been on liquids for 24 hrs so not sure if this new fill will help but I am hopeful! Let me know what you think of my post if you get time to read it...
  8. Glad you are feeling better!!!
  9. Went to a Vegas Show at the Venetian Wed night...Rock of Ages. It was good..really fun to watch them poke fun at the 80's. Going to Six Flags Magic Mnt on the 26th with the boyfriend after spending quality Christmas time with my kids and grandkids Christmas day! So looking forward to it all. I too am on vacation after today until the 30th! Had my 3rd fill yesterday and found out I had almost no restriction...no wonder I wasn't getting anywhere... read about it here... http://www.debbieposton.com/3rd-fill-in-my-lap-band/ It includes my doctor's reasoning behind why we need multiple fills. Let me know what you think
  10. Hope you get better soon! We are all in your corner
  11. Wow! You and I seem alot alike! I am only 11 weeks out from surgery and still struggling with my old eating habits. I seem to learn something new each week though and I do write about my thoughts and experiences. If you have time, read my newest blog post on eating more protein and tell me what you think...http://www.debbieposton.com/better-protein-choices-no-sliders/ I wish you luck on your journey!! Patience seems to be the biggest thing needed lol
  12. I used some of your information here in my latest blog so others can benefit...I hope you don't mind? Would you like me to give you credit? I will... http://www.debbieposton.com/better-protein-choices-no-sliders/
  13. Update: Lost 2.4 lbs in 1 week check out my blog post about the change http://www.debbieposton.com/better-protein-choices-no-sliders/ what are your thoughts??
  14. Update: Lost 2.4 lbs in 1 week check out my blog post about the change http://www.debbieposton.com/better-protein-choices-no-sliders/ what are your thoughts??
  15. Sorry there's not more on my blog yet but I've been kinda disappointed with my progress so I have little to write. I only want to write stuff that helps inspire people you know??
  16. Do you have a support group to go to? I went to my 1st one last week and it really did help. My patient advocate gave me some very good advice and it really does seem to be helping... But that's why we are here also...to help support each other! Remember, you chose to get the band so you've already done the best thing to help you get healthy, the rest takes patience.... I'm telling this to myself as much as to you...hehe
  17. Nope I am from Wyoming. Not doing anything special I don't think. I only eat 1/2 a cup when I am hungry which is maybe twice a day and do a protein shake once a day. I need to get back into the gym though. That's awesome Carrie! I still get hungry between meals. I'm hoping my fill on Thursday will help with that but I'm doing better with the snacking between meals and I've been walking 2 miles a day....but got up to 3 miles yesterday! Going to see if I can do that again today...
  18. Can you guys give some encouragement? I'm only 11 weeks out and down 14 lbs...I was 16 lbs but gained. Now I'm trying to lose it again but I still feel like I'm fighting a diet! When did you start seeing the weight come off and what changed? What did you do differently? anything?
  19. I would be happy with any real weight loss! It seems some people lose that much especially because you have been very cautious about following the rules. Being sick probably sucks...try stage one again...soups and protein shakes until you feel better. Of course, its always good to ask your doctor tho... I hope you get better soon
  20. Congratulations!! I can't wait till I start seeing significant weight loss... I go in for my 3rd fill on Thursday, I currently have 5 cc's in my band but still get hungry between meals... You look amazing!
  21. I live in Henderson Nevada!! Where did you get banded? and how are you doing?
  22. No need to be nervous, we have all been where you are and felt the same way but you will find it's not as bad as you think. Just remember to eat slow and chew thoroughly! Can't stress that enough! Congratulations on joining us bandsters - we are a bunch of losers!! We each have our own journey to travel but we are all here for each other to make it easier for each other however we can. Wishing you luck on your journey
  23. The wetter the meat is the easier it goes down for me, however, I am going in for my 3rd fill on Thursday. I'm sure it will get more difficult then. I can't eat beef or chicken if its dry. Hamburger is ok and I've even had prime rib as long as it is juicy. Just remember very small bites. It seems when you put it in your mouth and start chewing, it enlarges and I tend to swallow before I should... Fish is good because its more of a slider food but keep in mind, the more you chew, the more time you take which gives your stomach time to tell your brain you are full.
  24. Where is my group? Is everyone doing ok? Ready for your next fill? Struggling with the holidays?
  25. I have tested this theory and even though I'm not staying full for 4 hours, it really does work!! I don't need those Snacks if I put more Protein in my Breakfast and lunch. I go in for my 3rd fill on Thursday - I really hope this gets me closer to that FULL feeling for the 4 hours between meals. I might actually be able to do this - I lost 2.4 lbs since Thursday!!
