  1. not sure why it listed this 3 times...but, also, I cannot eat bread or tortillas. How are you doing otherwise?
  2. This is what I'm talking about!! Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I am only 3 weeks out and worry all the time that I won't succeed! I need to know that I'm not the only one that has had this happen and still can succeed with my band! I'm sorry about the embarrassing public display - it is one of my worst fears - but this too shall pass, right?
  3. Yes, I did speak to my nutritionist last night. she advised me to slow down and not eat so fast. I do believe I ate it too fast. She has convinced me that my band is fine because that was my concern was causing the band to slip but also informed me that my doctor does an ultrasound at the 1st fill which I am scheduled for 10/31. This will be a good time to discuss this and verify that all is well with my band. Thank you for your concern, it is much appreciated. This is why this community is here - to help each other with this journey.
  4. Thank you! This was the reason I started my blog posts. I couldn't find any blogs that told the horror stories of the good, the bad, and the ugly. I want to change that. Show the real side of lap band and hopefully still be a success.
  5. check out my blog post on my horrible encounter with french toast http://www.debbieposton.com/breaking-the-rules/?fb_source=pubv1 your opinions please?
  6. My new blog post about what NOT to eat...check it out @ http://www.debbieposton.com/breaking-the-rules/?fb_source=pubv1 Let me know what you think...
  7. Good luck with your fill today!!
  8. I have my 1st support group meeting tonight. I'm kinda looking forward to it. I have some questions and things I would like to discuss with others... Also, my boyfriend has been with me every step of the way from the beginning thru this experience...don't get me wrong, I love it! He is great support! But I don't get much chance to talk with the other 7 people who were banded the same day I was at my surgical center and I am hoping group will be a place for me to get to know them more... Also, I was given the all clear to try real food last week but take it slow. I've been trying everything and having no reactions including toasted english muffin with jam. However, last night I met my match! I had made french toast with whole wheat bread for the boyfriend on sunday. There was 1 piece left so i had tossed it in the fridge in a zipbag. I was home alone last night so decided to have that piece of toast for dinner with some fruit. NOPE! I don't know if i ate it too fast or didn't chew good enough but we were warned about breads and now I understand why. 10 minutes after I ate this, the pain in my chest and back were aweful until I tossed my cookies...Then I felt better... Cross french toast off the list!! Lesson learned!
  9. That is a really GREAT story!! I'm glad I asked and that you posted it here for us!! Thank you!
  10. well now the rest of us want to know what happened on the plane...lol
  11. I had my surgery 9/27 and Ive lost 16 lbs. My 1st fill is scheduled for 10/31 - Halloween! but I'm looking forward to it because i don't have much restriction and haven't lost any weight this week. However, I am doing good with my walking schedule, getting 3-4 miles a day at least 3 days a week so far. My plan is to try to get to 4 miles a day 4 days a week.
  12. Please tell me how the fill is? Do you have more restriction? does it feel different?
  13. I have my port in my belly button and it seems to be taking a while to heal. Anyone else having issues with the belly button incision getting gooey and not healing?
  14. try Kohls - they have really cute clothes! and you get Kohls cash for later purchases saving money! Also, you are supposed to be getting 64 oz of water daily. It doesn't sound like you are getting enough water or food. I would check with your doctor \ dietician to be sure.
  15. don't be silly! we all know what is expected of women. You hear about it all the time. The unrealistic expectations. me personally - I'm just wanting to be healthy enough to go hiking and take photos without it wearing me out for 2 days afterwards... Hence, the reason I want to stay focused on following the rules. I did good today. When I got the urge for that chocolate bar at 2:30, I went for a walk (1 mile) and then got a Kaski GoLean Protein bar (9 gm protein). It not only took care of the craving but I'm not thinking about food now! Hopefully, this will help with that afternoon urge...
  16. lol...no I don't think so. Not even the women who have their photos on magazine covers are cool with everything about themselves. There is always something that could use improvement...
  17. I agree, they really are not! But we have made a good decision for ourselves. We just have to do the work and get to that magic "green zone" you hear about and change our lives...one healthy decision at a time
  18. I can only spec for myself but I am hard on myself because I feel the need to be perfect! All women want to be sexy and beautiful and sometimes it's very hard to do that when you know what it should take (diet and exercise) and we can't follow simple rules to get us there. The lack of discipline is my biggest frustration with me! I can't speak for anyone else...
  19. 14 hr a day as a nurse isn't what I would call being sedentary! I have an office job - I sit behind a computer all day! Getting off my butt is new for me too...lol
  20. Yes, I woke up today and weighed myself for the week. I weight the same as last Friday. I know I'm eating too much. I am sitting here now re-reading all the dietician handouts on what to eat and how much. I am going to re-commit as of today to get thru this next week! I will work on one day at a time... I bought the protein bars to have around at work - between 2-3 pm is when I get that chocolate craving so I am hoping this will help that problem. On a positive note, I am up to walking 4 miles a day now as of last night. I walk 2 miles at lunch at work, then another 2 miles at night after dinner with my boyfriend. I'm feeling good about this. So as long as I'm making positive steps towards a better me, I can't really complain too much...
  21. this sounds like an idea for those days that I just HAVE to have it! but I am going to try the cold turkey thing 1st..with my Sugar Free Chocolate pudding as my back up. Lets see what happens. Thanks all for the suggestions.
  22. WOW!! that's amazing! Congratulations! I think I will try the cold turkey thing for a week until after I weigh in next friday (if I can make it). Thank you for the advice! I'm worried I won't be able to do it but I will try...
  23. I'm so with you!! I am 14 days post op and ate a candy bar today! I'm beginning to worry that this isn't going to work for me! Let's see if we can't find ways to encourage each other?
  24. this is a good idea! I like the special K protein bars. I think I will stop by the store on the way home today.
  25. you've lost 230 lbs?
