What to do when STUCK?
I've seen on some youtube videos that people recommend papaya enzymes. I believe that the papaya breaks down Protein, so they recommend it if you are stuck on a protein. I do not know if this is true or not, or if people have tried it.

First Post-op Dr visit
I had my first post-op appointment today. I was 2 weeks post op yesterday. The Doc said I am healing well and looking good. I have been given clearance to exercise, but no abdominal work, and to move on to mushy food. I made my first trip to the grocery store since Dec. 24th!! I bought canned tuna, eggs, crackers, cottage cheese, peaches, ground turkey and potatoes. I had tuna on mini saltine crackers a couple of hours ago, and I feel great!! It is so nice to be eating actual food again!! I go back in 6 weeks, at which point we will decide if I need a fill.

First Day Back To Work
My first day back too!! I was banded 12/26. I am an elementary school teacher, but I was able to work in a little more sitting than usual. My biggest issue is the incision under my breastbone. I picked the wrong bra to wear to work. Other than that, no complaints. Congrats to everyone and happy healing!!

Newly Banded
@Sengelken- Sounds like you have a great hubby!! My recovery has been going great!! Took Tylenol Friday and Saturday pretty faithfully, and then only twice on Sunday. I have random pain in my left shoulder, but it is just slightly uncomfortable. I feel really lucky to be doing so well. I get up every hour or 2 and walk around inside the house for about 5 minutes and then rest on the couch. I'm almost caught up with everything on my DVR!(LOL). Hope you are recovering well.

Ticker question
I decided to go with the weight from my first visit with the surgeon. That is when the official journey began. Thanks for all of your advice!

Ticker question
I want to make a ticker for myself, but I am not sure what I should use as my starting weight. The weight at my first office visit, the weight when I started my pre-op diet or the weight the morning of my surgery. What did all of you do? Thanks!

Surgery in the morning!
Hi Misty! I was banded on the 26th and today I woke up with minimal pain. It is amazing to me how much better I feel each day. All I have been doing is laying on the couch or in bed and sipping Water every 5 minutes. About every hour or two, I get up and walk around the house. I am trying to follow the doctor's orders to the letter for a quick and easy recovery. Good luck!!

3rd day post op horrible feeling like i need to burp
Ladyj - I had surgery the same day as you. I also have some pressure on my chest and feel like I need to burp but I can't. It is very frustrating. Luckily, I have been able to release gas out the other end. Hope you are feeling better soon!

Vitamins?
I've tried a few different chewable brands to find one I like. My nutritionist said to make sure that it contains Thiamin (B vitamin). One of the chewables I tried didn't have it. I found that I can tolerate the taste after a day or two. You just have to keep trying until you find one you like. Everyone has different tastes, so one person might say something is terrible, but you might like it. You will find the same things with the Protein shakes. Good luck!!

Newly Banded

I was banded yesterday and came home late this morning. A little tired and sore. I am sipping slowly and walking. Looking forward to a few more days from now when my stomach muscles will feel better.

Surgery in the morning!
Hope you are doing well. I had surgery yesterday and came home today. The best advice I have read here is walk, walk, walk and sip, sip, sip! Good luck!!!

Newly Banded
I was banded this morning and doing well. The doctor requires an overnight stay. I have walked a few times and am allowed 1oz of ice chips every hour. Hoping for good things ahead!

Proud of myself!
You're doing great!!! Keep it up! Just remember you are preparing your body for surgery and you want to be as healthy as you possibly can be going into the procedure. I am on day 4, but I am allowed a bit more than you. I think it is a bigger mental challenge than physical challenge.

I'm on a roll!
Welcome!! Sounds like you are off to a great start. Good luck with everything!!

Got My Surgery Date!
Are you using Dr. Geiss?? Had surgery almost 3 months ago there! Not Dr. Geiss, I am using Dr. Powers. I have my final pre-op appointment on Monday.

Pre-op diet starts tomorrow
Tomorrow I start my 2 week pre-op diet. It has been interesting reading all the different requirements from different doctors. I can have 5 small meals a day - Soup, yogurt, pudding, Meal Replacement shakes and skim milk.(I am allowed to have a small amount of lean Protein, veggies and a small fruit for the first week if I need it) I think the first 3 days ail be the hardest as my body adjusts to the changes, but I am ready for the challenge!! My biggest concern is switching to decaf coffee. I have been doing one cup regular and one cup decaf for the past week. Tomorrow starts only decaf. Again, I think I will be fine, but just have a bit of nervous energy. My biggest concern is not getting sick. There are so many germs floating around and I am terrified of catching a cold!!

I wouldn't worry about the surgery time. At my hospital, the policy is to call the day before with the time. A first I thought that was odd, but now I have accepted it. I know my date and that is good enough for me. Good luck!!

Medifast Opinions
My nutritionist recommends Medifast for the protein shakes because it is medically formulated to contain all the necessary components to replace a meal. Has anyone tried it? Wondering what you think. I have already sampled Unjury and I like that.

Got My Surgery Date!
I am scheduled for December 26!!! My pre-op site starts on Dec. 12. I am so excited!!! It actually works out great because I am a teacher and I already have the time off so I won't have to worry about asking for much time off. I will even have a few days off before the surgery to make sure I have everything ready. I am so excited!!!
