  1. There are a few things in the post-op (as far as eating) that my RD suggest we not have...beans, potatoes, cream of wheat. I just double check with my health center to be sure.
  2. They could deny you up to the day you get weighed in at the hospital. My nurse told me she had to send several patients home because they no longer met the BMI qualifications. You could probably do it on your own but you would have to commit to the lifetime change. So it won't be another yo yo diet. Best of luck to both of you.
  3. Mine were too, started same day of surgery. I was surprised I thought it would be days before having a BM. They had to send off a sample just to make sure I didn't have an infection or something wrong. But it lasted two full days and it was a lot! About five days after still runny Not black though.
  4. I hope you get everything under control soon! Everything you are going to sounds very scary, sending thoughts your way I hope you have your strength back soon.
  5. I also use Fage it seem like the best choice low sugar, low carbs, high protein! I first tried it with PB2 and Almond Roca SF Torani, it was tasty. Today I used French vanilla SF Torani loved it! I had tried to add some baby food fruit Apple banana & Strawberry but it was edible then I added the French vanilla and loved it!
  6. My was clear liquids ( something you can see through) for up to day 8, broth, herbal tea (no caffeine) Jello SF ( no red) and Popsicles and water. They told me not to drink the protein cause it could be hard on it. They want pouch to heal before you introduce too many foods.
  7. still having trouble figuring out this forum on my iPad, but this post I was referring to the post about sleeping at home after surgery.Hi cookies, how r u feeling? We r almost a week out? Have u weight yourself? I'm feeling good just itchy I have the steri-strips off tomorrow. Started stage 2 today vitamins, protein baby food and yogurt... My scale may be off a little but today from date of surgery about 7lbs down. How are you doing? I'm glad haven't gotten sick at all and drinking plenty of water.

  9. I slept in my bed, used extra pillows. Kingsize or body pillow to use as protection I hugged onto it slept comfortable.
  10. Is anyone else having food nightmares? I dreamt that my niece who is a chef made prime rib and gave me a plate and I ate half of it before I realized OMG I can't eat this I just had surgery and now I really messed things up... I can get a blockage, tear... Then wait till I woke myself up from worrying to relief it was only a dream... To face my dream I cooked steak dinner for my Family then I was ok.
  11. We were advised in our booklet no chewing gum because the air stretches your pouch and also if swallowed it could cause blockage. I would rather be safe than sorry.
  12. my nutritionist said if you can take them whole to crush them with a pill crusher but not to put them in my shakes he said to put it on yogurt
  13. I stressed so much on this, so they didn't have me do a two week diet, at the hospital the nurse was saying she has sent people home day of surgery for being under. When I got there just to be on the safe side I left my shoes and jacket on went weighed. So much relief when I weighed in ok my bmi was 37 with co-morbidity. But I know my insurance only looked at the co-morbidities as high blood pressure, sleep apnea, or diabetes.
  14. The Dr was stumped when he got inside and said my anatomy was reversed! Took an extra hour and extra incision to find my small intestine. Had my hubby worried cause it took so much longer then expected... But I'm feeling great haven't took any pain med since the day of surgery. It made me nauseated. Just sitting here hoping the Dr makes his rounds soon and hope to get discharged today!
  15. I'm still waiting on X-ray 3 hours nothing to eat or drink till after X-ray and Dr ok's clear liquid diet, but I feel fine. Just sent hubby off to eat he's been here all night with only a granola bar and coffee waiting for them to come get me for the X-ray we did a couple of laps around this floor.., they stopped the ice chips last night at midnight Ahhhh no one warned me about the gastrograph contrast I had to drink for the X-ray!! It was terrible I was so glad when it was over! After that they brought me clear liquid, I couldn't take it had the after taste for hours!
