  1. I read on other posts that people mentioned using the nioxin treatment system. I just bought some as a preventative measure. It's the cleanser, conditioner and scalp treatment, I figure it can't hurt!
  2. I am also 3 days post op also and best advice I can give is to try not to go too long without drinking hot tea or broth, that along with the heating pad ( Walmart has a nice xl one with auto shut off), gas ex strips and pain meds and walking every now and then. If your having a pain on left side like a throbbing, muscle type pain for me it was because I was not blowing in the breathing device, if you did not get one like me, my doc advised me to blow up a balloon. Apparently this needs to be done to clear your lungs and improve your oxygen ( I learned this the hard way) Good luck and hang in there!
  3. Went on to see my doc and he mentioned that its something to do with my lungs, I need to be blowing in that tube thing more
  4. I feel it more towards the left side, has anyone else experienced this?
  5. So I am one week away from my surgery date! I am so surprised at how fairly well I am doing with my pre op diet. This experience has truly made me think about my relationship with food, emotional/social eating, etc.. this process has made me evaluate a lot of things. Not knowing what to do with my famiy socially on Saturdays -- without eating out, it makes me realize that I need to find other ways of occupying my time. I am hoping that dropping some weight will give me more energy and take away the need to be isolated all of the time, so I won't mind going out and being seen! I can say that I am not really nervous about the surgery any more, just really anxious to get it over with and start my new life! Being on this site has pros and cons, I tend to be the type to read the negative stories more than the positive ones (which is not really good for me). So I am trying to spend a little less time here until post surgery. Well thats it for now,..let the countdown begin! ...
  6. Thanks for your response! I am on day 5 today... doing ok overall, just trying to take it one day at a time and not focus on the fact that I have like 10 more days of this and 2 weeks therafter (post-surgery). I can say that this experience is causing me to reevaluate my relationship with food...it wa slike I did not know what to do with myself socially this weekend while being on this liquid/limited calorie diet. But I am 4.5 lbs down and pressing on!!!!!!!!!
  7. After 2 days of liquids only, I have never been more excited to have a frozen meal before !! Omg! Taste like heaven lol!
  8. I have to have a repair as well, didnt know I had it. I have acid reflux sometimes but if I am honest with myself it only happens if I eat late, or eat then lay down, or simply eat very greasy foods (Popeyes chicken and biscuits is the worst), or acidic foods like tomato based things.
  9. Yay ! Was trying to find someone who had the same date as me! 13 more days seems like a lifetime! Have you started your prepping diet? I am on day 2 and it ain't easy but I am following dr's orders. Good luck to you !
  10. Congrats ! I am so excited for you! I have 13 more days to get to where you are, I really can't wait to get the procedure over with! All the best of luck to you! I look forward to sharing positive results as so many of us go through this journey together!
  11. Soo good to know that I am not alone (or cuckoo)! I love this msg board and appreciate all of the words of encouragement !
  12. The Popsicles are a godsend !! Makes you feel like your actually eating something of substance!
  13. I think that many of us have different pre op options, I bought sugar free Popsicles and fudgsicles, lots of sugar free drink mixes, Special K protein drinks and chick and beef broths. Also have tomato soup and drinking hot and sour soup from the Thai restaurant right now..yummy! I have to stay at 1000-1200 calories
  14. My pre op diet started today, my surgery date is August 15. Managed ok on all liquids today just have 1 more day of all liquid 1000-1200 calorie diet then I have 10 days with one frozen meal along with liquids and then the 2 last days of only liquid right before my surgery. I can't wait till Saturday to have that frozen meal! This is hard! But if it helps my surgeon - then its worth it! I am soo ready for this change in my life! I barely know what to do with myself for the next 14 days !
  15. I am on one day pre-op diet and I am already diet of popsilces, broth,....lol! Hang in ther e- it will be over soon and al well worth it I am sure!
  16. It's day one of my quest for a new me! Went grocery shopping last evening for liquids.... and more liquids - must be prepared and have a variety of items on hand to get my though these 14 days pre-op diet! Had some coffee this morning (had to have that) driking water, and just taking it step by step - hour by hour. I am scared of surgery, scared of complications which makes me super obedient to follow all of docs rules to a tee, so I have no doubt that I will do fine through these 14 days. August 15 is my band date, let the countdown begin!!!!!
  17. Good luck to you, I begin pre op diet tomorow and I am started to get anxious also - sending prayers your way !!!!!!
  18. Thanks for the response! i begin pre op diet on Thursday and I think that I am over thinking, over reading, over analyzing, just freaking out a bit at this point! ???
  19. Just curious, in other diet programs it seemed like those that had the most to lose (or just heavier,I guess) seemed to drop the weight much faster than those that had less to lose? Do you bandsters find that to still be the case? I just want to prepare myself..,
  20. Just googled protein shots, I see they are sold at Costco and a few other online spots... Body choice is the brand I believe, anyone out there use these?
  21. Thanks so much for your answers! I need all the help I can get! I was fine at first but as the surgery date approaches I am starting to get nervous about complications, if this is the right choice, etc!! I know I want the end result but just afraid!!!
