  1. I am 26 and 4 days post op today! In the Dallas, TX area.
  2. Hernia band sounds confusing..... its actually "hernia repair via Lap Band"
  3. BCBS of Illinois has "hernia band" coverage, which is how I got my band. My BMI is over 35 but I have no comorbidities. I went to True Results, and (after an EGD to document GERD and a hiatal hernia) ins covered a large portion of my WLS and aftercare. I can't say enough good about true results. From my consultation to surgery date was 1 month. I def have a bit out of pocket to cover, but this way my ins will cover after care (as opposed to me paying for it outright, then I couldn't file claims for follow up and fills). And True Results was on my side and totally supportive and straightforward from day one.
  4. Def not normal.... hope you have contacted your doctor. I was banded July 10 and haven't had any issues with any thin liquids. Jello, pudding, and yogurt felt odd going across the band, but I've had no nausea or vomiting, and really no hunger either. Just gas pains in my shoulder and under my ribs. And of course soreness throughout my tummy, especially where my port is. Walking and still taking pain meds frequently (less medicine today though, only 3 doses).
  5. Post op day 4 here, and I too cannot swallow even a sip of protein shake. I've tried Syntha6 and vitamin world brand in vanilla, and MyoPlex carb smart ready-to-drink in chocolate. Yuck. I chugged them pre op, but drinking them slowly is impossible. Once I smell it I gag. I want something rich and yummy, without that awful smell! Or flavorless...
  6. As the title of this post suggests, I am new to Lap Band - and new to this forum! My name is NaChae. I am a registered nurse, wife, and mother of 3. Since I had my first child I have struggled with PCOS and my weight. I have tried diets, workout plans, and all kinds of diet pills, but every success was short lived. The weight just kept coming back. After being on prescription diet pills (Adipex) off and on for the last year or two, I started weighing the long-term consequences of these pills on my overall health. A girl at my job shared her Lap Band story with me and I started consuming all the information I could find about it. To my surprise my husband was completely supportive! After a few office visits, some financial finagling, and an EGD.... I was banded on Wednesday, July 10, 2013! I'm still on thin, mostly Clear liquids. I'm not really hungry at all, but I'm eating (drinking lol) on schedule and taking in plenty of Water. Pain is tolerable, but definitely there, particularly where my port is located. I'm very excited about my future with Lap Band. I can't wait to shed the excess weight and show everyone the me that I am inside. <3 NaChae Starting weight: 220 lbs Current weight: 216 lbs Goal weight: 135 lbs
