  1. Day 1 post op, they just put a corset on me! Wow this thing is great. So much easier to move and cough. Much better than just the pillow. If the hospital dies not offer it to you I highly recommend asking for one!
  2. Surgery yesterday morning. The doctor just came in and gold me he would release me this afternoon! Yea!!! I have been taking my pain meds, using my spirometer, drinking the 1 oz of water every 20 minutes and just has a Popsicle!!!! I highly recommend accepting the corset after surgery. This makes getting up and coughing easier.
  3. Good luck! You will do great!
  4. 11 hours post op and I am feeling pretty good. Pain at about a 2 on the 1-10 scale. Ice chips are the best! I am so happy to be on this journey!
  5. Best wishes Cappy! My surgery is at 8:30! See you on the other side !
  6. Hang in there the first few days were the hardest, it gets easier.
  7. Connie I was very nervous about gettin my approval also. I received approval at 12:00 yesterday and my surgery us at 8:00 am tomorrow. My psych was late turning in her report. Final submission of paper work happened July 3rd. The insurance carrier told me not to worry they would have approval within 48 hours of final submission and they did. Again if you are nervous call them and ask more questions. wishing you the best!
  8. Connie don't be worried call your insurance carrier and verify what you have done and what still needs to be done. It will be fine. Best wishes
  9. Mama Angela- I call my BCBS as soon as I made the decision to see what their requirement were. Every insurance is different and we can't expect the surgeons office to know the specific requirements for every insurance carrier. One thing I have definitely learned when it comes to elective surgery is to be pro active and take matters into my own hands. This is my journey and I wanted to be in control of it from the beginning. BCBS was great to work with, I especially like my nurse advocate. Call your insurance and ask the questions you need to know. I wish you all the best on you journey!
  10. 24 hours from now I will be in surgery. I am nervous and excited. Lots if phone calls today from friends wishing me luck. That has helped... Alot! I am somewhat tired from my 14 day pre-op diet but I list 15 lbs as if this morning. I am celebrating tonight by taking our wine team to a Detroit Tigers game. BTW - I am in the food & wine business, talk about challenges ahead of me! Lol! My trips to Napa will be very different! I am really ready for this life change. Thank you to all of you that have been so kind and provided answers to my questions and great support! I will let you know how I am doing tomorrow!
  11. I have Anthem BCBS of Michigan. My surgeon turned in all my paperwork and my PCP gave them a letter if necessity and they approved my surgery and 12 fills 3 days later. I have. BMI of 40 with 2 co morbidities. Surgery tomorrow. I would call who ever was your case worker at BCBS and find out why they denied it.
