  1. Just remember a slower loss is more likely to stay gone, Also it is healthier to lose slower. I lost 176 pounds prior to getting my band and it took me around 22 months. However the last year I just stayed the same. But remaining stable was a big deal for me, as in the past if I was not losing I was gaining! Don't worry you'll get there one pound at a time! Good luck!
  2. First of all glad you're doing so well also! I bought Pacific brand organic creamy tomato soup, Mixed it half and half with milk like per doctors instructions so that it had more protein. It is very good, Also Pacific brand has several creamy soups that I was told I could have. Here is a link to their website so you can find where to buy in your area. http://www.pacificfoods.com
  3. Just 4 days post op I was able to put my bra on, and go to church this morning! Everyone told me how good I looked today, well that's good too! Pain is very little thank goodness! Enjoying a bowl of tomato soup. So glad I did this. My doctor did tell me I was a very good candidate for this because of the weight loss I had already achieved and I work out daily so my recovery has been very quick. I am a very happily banded girl! I wish each and everyone of you a super fantastic day!!
  4. I had a trip planned for the 3rd of August, I chose to cancel my travel plans when got my surgery date. My doctor did say I could go if I felt up to it, but she was concerned about moving around and not sitting for long periods. I'd talk with my doctor about it if I were you.
  5. I wish you well with your insurance. I was blessed in the fact that my insurance was all for it the only things I had to go through was what Dr. Patterson required. It was all rather quick for me. I wish you all the best for a speedy approval so you can move forward on your new journey. Blessings to you!!
  6. I'm so sorry you're having difficulties, so far so good for me, But my advise as with any change is to contact your doctor as to your problems hopefully it will be an easy fix. Good luck and blessings to you.
  7. Way to go girl! Congratulation on your success!
  8. Don't be discouraged, I'm sure it will get better. Press on my dear, I am sure the results will follow. Blessing and best wishes to you!
  9. Sorry for all your complications, but glad you are well now. I had a something like that happen when they removed my gall bladder many years ago, wound up at Stanford University Hospital, and underwent more surgery as a result. Just goes to say it can happen with any surgery, there are always risk involved. Hope all is going well for you now best wishes to you for a happy and healthy life.
  10. Thank you! I must add she even took time to learn my diet so she can help me along the way. And as of today I feel fantastic! Hard to believe I had surgery 3 days ago! Have a blessed day my friend!
  11. Yes I was glad I stayed the night, I learned a lot more about after care being there. I was in a unit for bariatric patients so they were very helpful. But it is good to be home now. BTW my daughter who was so upset that I was getting banded showed up at my house last nigh with flowers and balloons in hand! I think she was just scared, she also suffers from depression and part of it was the depression. I knew it was going to be difficult with her, but I felt if I didn't tell her and she found out later she would feel betrayed. But all is good now. I'm so glad I did this and that I found this site, I feel so much support here. Have a wonderful day one and all!
  12. Yes they do have a support group.. They meet monthly. And I totally agree I did this for me!
  13. Well I am not one happy banded girl! My insurance said I had to stay overnight so I did glad I did got lots of good advice from the medial staff. She also repaired my hiatal hernia I had for 35 years! She also removed a lot of scar tissue from a previous surgery. I feel fantastic! Thank you one and all for your wonderful support what a blessing you are!
  14. I have lost 175 however it was pre lap band, just getting it today! Want to keep off what I have lost as well as lose more. So away I go! Bought a new maxi dress the other day and the clerk said why are you having this doe you don't need it. B eut I still see myself at over 400 pounds. They want me to take body imaging classes so I guess I will when I am close to my goal. Got to run my ride to the hospital is on her way! Blessings!
  15. Well I'd like to say yesterday was a nice relaxing day, but it was not. Told my middle daughter about the up coming surgery and she was so angry. It made for a very stressful day. But I did get a good nights sleep and waiting for my ride to the hospital to arrive. Will take some time to pray all goes well, but at this point there is no looking back. My 12 year old granddaughter is going to spend a couple days at my house helping me out, so I bought her a cute pair of Betsey Johnson earrings as a little reward. Well my next post will be post-op! Blessings one and all!
  16. I am not banded yet, tomorrow is my surgery date. However I do not eat white starches anymore, thus brown rice is the only one I eat and since it takes much longer to cook I rarely think that far ahead! However the diet I was given rice and pasta were on the list. My doctor just said to chew well and wait a minute between bites.
  17. I go in on the 24h as well, and have nearly chickened out a couple times! If I get to the hospital, well that it's a go for sure! I got so many well wishes at church and felt so loved I think I can do this! White knuckles and all!
  18. Glad your doing so well! I know from my weight loss I have gotten off all meds and really dodged some bad weight related illness. Thus I have decided to get the band to help me reach my goal. Keep up the good work and stay well! Have a blessed and happy life!
  19. Try Oregon Weight Loss Surgery in Portland, Dr Emma Patterson is said to be the best in the pacific northwest!
  20. I plan on wearing a lose fitting maxi dress. Not worried about going to it's afterwards that will matter!
  21. Okay I made it though my cold feel and second thoughts to the point of I'm going through with this. A friend wants me to come stay with her for a couple days, but I just want to be home in my own bed in my own space so to speak. Guess it all depends on how I feel. Best wishes and blessing to you no matter where you are in this journey.
  22. One thing I have done as I lost weigh is always got rid of the too big cloths, didn't want anything I could go back to! I started in a 7x I now wear misses 16 bottoms and 14 tops, I sort of went crazy shopping when I could get into regular sizes, it was like a whole new world opening up to me. But now that I'm going to get banded I plan on making do as long as I can. These I will most likely take in my clothing where I can, but not there yet. Congratulations on the fantastic job you are doing, and by all means treat yourself to something fun!
  23. Congratulations you look fantastic!
  24. I went through the cold feet, but I finely decided I'm going through it. My dear guy friend said if you do it fine if you don't that's fine too. I guess that was all I needed him to say to me. I guess it made me feel it would be alright either way. For the first time in my life I felt accepted as I am, thus I can go forward with the changes I so badly want. He did say he wanted to make sure someone was staying with me or I stayed with one of my daughters, So looks like I'll spend a couple days with a friend, just till I'm up and running again. Best wishes to all getting ready for this and continued success to all who are already on their journey.
