  1. I know I have to wait until at least next week to get back to the gym, but I've been going for a 30 minute walk for the last three days. I worked really hard pre-op for about 3 months to get used to go to the gym and seeing the results of working hard in the gym. I'm so excited to get going in the gym post-op, because I know it will really rev up my weight loss. I'm so fidgety and ready to start my new life!!!!!!!
  2. I can't speak to your lower BMI issue, but I'll just say that it only took Tricare 4 days to approve my surgery!!
  3. My belief is that, in life 10% is what happens to you and 90% is how you react to it. It sounds like a great opportunity to do it again, the right way, and get healthy and happy. Best wishes to you!!!
  4. My nutritionist said this was a red flag probably indicating you are not meeting some nutritional need. I would go to your nutritionist or nurse to discuss this and see what nutritional supplement is needed to help.
  5. I bought comprehensive Bariatric multivitamins from Health Foods Unlimited, they taste ok and met the nutritional guidelines the nutritionist gave me.
  6. Just bumping against a mental block with the extreme lack of variety in taste and texture. Guess ill have to suck it up and power through.
  7. I'm four days post-op, absolutely no problems, feeling great! My follow up appointment isn't until next Friday, that would put me at 24 days on this liquid diet, and I'm getting a little sick of it. I'm loosing weight like a champ, but I'm hitting a mental wall with all of the protein drinks and massive amounts of yogurt. I was thinking of calling my doc on Monday and seeing if I can switch to mushy foods. How long post op did you continue with the liquid diet? I'm actually shocked how good I feel, it is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I too had a little extra weight after surgery, but as of this morning, 2 of the 5 pounds are gone. My belly looks horrible, I wouldn't even let my husband see it!! Not to be gross, but I'm passing gas like nobody's business. I took some pain meds yesterday, but just being a little sore, isn't a reason to take those kind of pain meds. I'm going back to work next Tuesday, I'm sure I'll be good to go.
  9. I'm moving around as much as I can, I feel better when I move. I'm am NOT having enough intake, I know that for sure, but I'm trying to up it a lot this morning. Yesterday I had 1/2 a Protein shake and about 1/2 a cup of yogurt. I"m drinking a lot of tea to get my liquid level up.
  10. I'm doing ok, sleeping was rough again last night because I'm a stomach sleeper, I just couldn't find a comfortable place to sleep. I"m very swollen and I'm noticing a lot of bruising this morning. I feel better than I thought I would feel. How are you doing?
  11. THanks Pittsbuger, I'm so sleepy, I haven't had protein for two days and my body just can't get moving. I'm sitting here trying to put down a protein shake, it is going to take a long time because I'm just sipping. I don't feel bad, very little pain, except for my shoulder are on the left side. I'm guessing tomorrow I'll feel a little better.
  12. Surgery was yesterday and thank you for all of theft eat ideas to take to the hospital! Especially valuable were the Chapstick and chargers. I didn't sleep too well last night, but I'm going home today do ill rest up there
  13. Steph, lets try to check in in the next couple of days to see how we are doing. I'm keeping you in my thoughts, I know we are going to be successful and tomorrow is just the first step of a wonderful journey. :-)
  14. Well, I've packed my little bag, I have stocked the fridge with what I'll be needing, done the laundry, cleaned the house and I'm getting ready to chill out for the evening. I thought I would be more nervous or even a little panicked, but I'm very calm and really looking forward to tomorrow. I have appreciated all of the hits and tips on this message board pre-op, and I'm excited to tune in for post-op. The first 51 years have been great, except for this weight issue, I know the 2nd half of my life will be even better being in a healthier state.
  15. My surgery is tomorrow and I've lost 10 pounds, but after 2PM I'm on completely liquids. I'm going to have a little clear broth around supper time and that is it. I have been bored on this pre-op diet, but I have not been hungry, food seems gross right now. I wasn't loosing any weight either until the Nutritionist, who is also a nurse, told me I could make my own soups, etc. I ditched the canned junk and I feel better and super satisfied. I've heard from a lot of people who are on pre-op diets and I have NEVEr heard that a procedure would be cancelled because of no weight loss.
  16. I just got back from urgent care and evidently it is not poison ivy, YEA!! It is a reaction to something because my skin was previously compromised because of the previous poison ivy. Urgent care doctor said that the rash is not a surgery stopper, again, YEA!!!!
  17. Congratulations!!!!! Keep up the good work.
  18. OMG, I had poison ivy a couple of weeks ago, got a shot, went on steroids for a couple days and it all went away. I woke up this morning and I"m seeing some on my arm and around my breasts, I'm freaking out a little. My surgery is scheduled for 9 AM tomorrow!!!! Not sure if I should just show up at the surgery center tomorrow, go to urgent care and talk to a doc this morning, or what the hell to do. I am pissed.
  19. I can't imagine traveling on this pre-op diet, or especially traveling on the post-op diet. Best of luck to you, keep pestering the insurance, fortunately mine was approved in 4 days, and my surgery is two months to the date of my first orientation meeting.
  20. I haven't told a lot of people about my banding, which happens next Monday 8/12, but it is not out of shame. This decision was so deeply personal and life changing, I just don't feel like sharing all of the details. I have lost weight on the pre-op diet, my hair stylist mentioned that I look like I had lost weight today, I just accepted the compliment and told her I was making some life style changes, I really like that phrase, life style changes. I'm finding that as I progress towards this surgery, I'm looking at what people are eating on TV, in their cars, where ever and the portion size and amount of food presented to people is gross. I'm not happy on this pre-op diet, but I am, for the first time in a long time, in control of food, food ISN"T controlling me and I like that.
  21. Lull ow made a good point, I didn't pursue the band surgery until I was ready to make the lifestyle food choices that needed to be made. I'm now comfortable with the idea of trading food or better relationships and a healthier me. D it when it is right for you, don't rush it.
  22. My band is going to be placed on Monday, you are right, time is standing still!! I've been trying to keep myself busy, but I look up and it has been like 15 minutes, so annoying!! My husband us home on leave, so that has helped a little bit, but I feel like I'm waiting for Christmas morning.
  23. I started the process on 12 June and I am getting banded on 12 August, two months to the date. Hang in there, I don't work during the summer so I was able to get all of my appointments quickly and insurance only took 4 days to approve. I feel like I've been on a warp drive ride, can't wait until next Monday.
