  1. Hi! I'm day 6 post-op and in full liquids and today I felt hungry for the first time! I knew this day was coming so my dietician recommend "cream of potato's Campbell" use the mix with 1 cup of fat free milk and blend everything really well in a blender (it has little chunks of potatoes) it was delicious! And super light and filing Hang in there! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  2. I was insurance approved with a BMI of 35.5 and I had a revision from lap-band to sleeve last monday. Before the surgery my doctor came to the pre-surgery room to look at my stats. The day of the surgery, my BMI was 34 so he just made a funny comment like "you are not that big, are you?, winkwink" so I just smiled at him praying that he would go ahead with the surgery. I have several weight-related commorbities and I'm sure low-bmi patients will benefit from this surgery as much as other higher BMI patients. Health comes in different shapes and forms. I totally feel we should be part of a medical study group or something!

  5. Hi Elisha, I had the band removed and I was sleeved at the same time 3 days ago and I can tell you that is already better! No hungry at all, my incisions are minimal and no acid reflux or pain pressure where the band was placed. The gas is the only problem but so far, the recovery and how I feel over all is way better. This time, I tried to do the right thing and I went with a Center of Excellence, totally different experience from my lap-band surgery 3 years ago. Happy I'm healing and recovering Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  6. Hi! I'm on day 3 as well. Gas is my worst enemy, so I try to walk, lay on the side with a heating pad over the tummy and drink Water to get the gas out of my tummy. I passed gas 15 times today and I had hot peppermint tea and it felt awesome and I burped after it, so it's getting better. Good luck to you sleeve buddy! 7. Hi guys, today was my day three and I'm finally home. Past two days were miserable but it gets better! Today passed gas 15 times yes, I'm counting, and now I feel so much better. Also I had Water, 1/4 shake and hot peppermint tea and I burped 3 times in a row after the tea, and now I feel much better. The hard part is the gas, try to walk around if you can and drink water. That funky feeling in your tummy is gas trying to get out, but once you get it out, drinking gets easier. If you drink it will help with the gas in your track, so keep trying until the gas is out! 14. What is pre-op testing? The endoscopy? My preop testing is blood work, chest X-ray and EKG. I go tomorrow for that. I also have to pre-register at the hospital. Surgery is June 9. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App I all had that, plus a pulmomary clearance and a Upper GI. I'm really impressed with all the testing and technology involved in this pre-op stage. The Upper GI was really cool and I have the monitors in from of me so I was able to see all "my insides" while I was drinking the contrast Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  19. Hi! We have the same insurance. This is what my doctor submitted for me to get a lap-band removal and convertion to sleeve: -6 months diet - attempted of non-surgical weight lost (gyms, other diets, weight watchers, etc) - 1 nutritional visit (recent) - Psychological evaluation (with MPPi test) - letter of recommendation from surgeon with current weight and height. - in my case, my BMI was 35, so I needed 1 commorbities (I have several), so I submitted medical records and medication list. If your BMI is higher than 40, you don't need this. I'm having a lap band removal, so in addition I needed to provide all documentation from lap-band surgery, follow up and complications. I was approved in 24 hrs and I'm having the surgery in a BCBS Center of Excellence. I had a great experience with the insurance company. After the approval they even called me to see if I had any questions about the surgery. Their customer service is awesome and I'm hoping you will have a great experience with them too! 20. Hi Heidi! I'm having my surgery at St. Luke's Medical Center as well! I just got approved a couple days ago, so hopefully I will get schedule on Tuesday. Who is your surgeon? Mine is Dr. Juarez. How is your pre-diet going? Best wishes! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I have BS of California and I was approved in 24 hrs BUT my doctor decided to do a "predetermination" of benefits first with the local insurance office and this voluntary process (that I didn't even know existed until yesterday) took 9 days. Day 10 sent the documents to BS of CA, and I was approved today. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. Congratulations! I got my approval this morning as well - happy dance after all the hassle Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
