  1. Howdy! I was banded 5/24/13, and had a weight of 275 before pre-op diet. Much of the weight is emotional baggage being supported by my love of food. In 2013, I decided it was time to finally let go of the baggage for good. As of this morning I was 244.5. 31 pounds! It has made an incredible difference for me, I'm winded less, more energetic and feeling better about myself. I slipped up a lot in December with all the celebrating, but I feel recharged to get back on track. I'm at a weight I have not seen for about 3 years ago, when my mother passed. It was a tough time, but I got through. Next goal is 215, which was seen last about 8 years ago. So close! :-)

    Off the wagon.

Have any of you fell off the wagon in a holiday spiral? I think I gained about 2-3 pounds over the last 2-3 weeks. Started with my thanksgiving baking, then 2 turkey dinners, my birthday (which included plenty of empty calories) and period cravings I'm at the tail end so hopefully some of the gain is Water... I have been back on good behaviour since yesterday and have a 5 week check up tmrw which will clearly not go well. I've lost 30 (well, I was). pounds since may 10th, and feel really proud of myself overall.... Just helps to hear others talk about what they overcome.

    Off the wagon.

Hi everyone! Thanks for the wonderful support!!!! Had my checkup and am down about a pound since my last check up 5 weeks ago. May not have been perfect BUT wasn't as bad as my brain was telling me it was lol. After I confessed to my nurse about falling off course, my nurse told me I could skip the weigh-in....but I wanted to be accountable for my poor choices and was happily surprised. In the end, any loss is better than a gain! I'm tracking religiously again focusing on the next check up in 4 weeks. Hang in there everyone

    What's going on at Slimband

I really like it. The staff was friendly and very informative. Dr C is also great. Her called me personally the day after to answer any questions and make sure I'm doing ok. The nurses and surgical team were great and also informative about the process. There's webinars and they always respond to any emails I have sent. Only problem we had was the elevator breaking down when I was being released. Poor nurses had to make sure I got down the stairs in one piece! It made me laugh

    May bandings, Updates wanted

Hello I was banded on May 24th, as of last Saturday I was at a 20 pound loss, 10 of which was pre-op. I have had one fill and have 4.5cc's in my band. 2nd fill on Aug 6th. Meals lasting closer too 3 hrs now if I have solid Protein in it. Minor "stuck" issues at times but is due too me learning bite sizes and thorough chewing.... Congrats everyone on your weight loss! Slow and steady wins the race

    Nsv

I seem to be having a dumb moment... What does "NSV" stand for? Clearly something in regards to positive progress, but I can't guess the wording lol. Thanks for helping me out of my dumb blonde moment. (I'm blonde so can say that LOL)

    New fill

I had my first fill today . I am on soft stuff and am not lasting more than a few hours without starving again. Tmrw I hope that my solids will last a bit better. I'm loving the entire process and lapband system.!

    BRUISED!!!

My guess is, it hit a small vein on the way to the port... I just had my first fill and it bled a bit afterwards. I don't have any pain though.... . I just remember the bruise that the shot of blood thinner left on my arm from surgery... Huge! Took forever to clear too... Call the dr and ask them directly, hope you feel better!
  10. Hi gang! I got banded on May 24th and things are going really well for me. I am not due for my first fill for another 2 weeks. I am trying to stick to the portion sizes but am hungry every couple hours now... Is this the dreaded hell I have heard about??? Thanks!

    Help:(

I just wanna say... You're doing great!!!, I'm not perfect and have made a few poor food choices as well. BUT! I also look at all the right choices I have made. In the last 4 weeks 2 Pre and 2 post surgery, I have lost 15 pounds and am proud of myself. One poor choice won't destroy all the good you're doing sweetie. Hang in there and smack your hubby in the head (joke) I'm sure he's not perfect either... Considering he is also banded should avoid over eating too. Stay strong!
  12. Hey gang! I have just begun my soft food stage and am trying to stick too my 6-8 oz meals. I am chewing well and everything is going down fine. Did everyone else have no restriction before their first fill?? I've been told that people plateau or even gain during the first 4-6 weeks before the first fill, I've managed to drop about 7 pounds. Is this good? Opinions? I was just anticipating a feeling to let me know the band is there.... But not sure what I should feel. Rambling a of a newbie

    2 weeks post op

Thanks for the information I appreciate the input. @hockeymom- I feel ya on the bender... I'm fighting a good fight for the most part. Had a few Rough munchie days lol. I'm finding that I am getting hungry every 2.5-3 hours so I'm gonna assume when I am ready I can get a fill since I should be hungry every 4 or so hours. Loving this journey

    Weekends = cravings

I feel your pain! I'm 2 weeks post op and my period showed up in week 2. I must confess there were a few poor choices made. But tmrw is a new day and a new start

    What's going on at Slimband

Everything went great! I am one of the "lucky ones" that didn't get the shoulder pain. It could be that I didn't need a hernia repair. My surgery was May 24th so I am 12 days post op. first few days were sore, I recommend piling a bunch of pillows behind you so you don't lay flat. The gas pains were rough... You might be lucky. I was taking gasX which helped a lot. I don't need them now and was off pain meds in a few days... I'm enjoying ground and smooth foods now and have no issues. I've lost 15 pound since the start of my pre-op diet I'm happy with that. Good luck! Stay in touch

    weird question for women...

I'm 10 days post-op and was doing great! My t.o.m has joined me and I could not stop snacking on sweets today!! Ugh.... In the long run I think 1-2 days a month is gonna kill me since I'm generally a compliant person. But, dang it was a serious craving day today... Damn hormones lol.
  19. Nenny101

    I have to ask.....

I think you are just worrying over nothing... I was feeling full and bloated for the first few days as well. I'm now about 7 days in and I am feeling a lot better.... Ps- had the same thoughts running through my head too. I'm a worry-wort. I would hope they placed it secure enough to handle fluids we would be sick before the slip occurred...

    TOMORROW IS MY DAY--- Yikes!!!!!!!!

Howdy! Just wanted to check in and see how work is going? Jenn
  21. Nenny101

    Water....

I'm on day 5 post op and Gas pains were pretty rough for the first few days. Take a gas aide, keep active by walking and yes... Sip sip sip lol. You'll start to improve, I am still getting the gas pains but not nearly as severe! Good luck hope you improve soon!

    Medications

Hello ladies! I am a few days post op and I was curious about medications... I have been crushing my pills and taking with juice. I was wondering if anyone takes "the pill" or something similarly small without crushing it? Also do any of you take capsules? Reactions? Thanks for the input girls!
  23. Oh! And I think for a visual aide, a deck of cards is about 3 ounces of meat
  24. I was also told that. Protein keeps you full and energized! I think the general deal is that there's about 7 grams of protein per ounce of meat.... Good luck!
