  2. Hi- I have Aetna. I had to visit my surgeon for 3 months straight and then I had the nutritionist visit, pulmonologist, sleep test, Psych Test and my primary doctor had to write a letter showing my weight for the past 2 years. Everything was just submitted on Tuesday so keeping fingers crossed!
  3. Just checking in as I started my Pre-op diet yesterday and my surgery is scheduled for 4/29. Yesterday was rough!!! I bought the protein shakes at Costco and they do taste very good. They have 160 calories, 30 grams of protein and 1g of sugar. I drink 4 a day and then I can have soup broth, jello, Fat Free yogurt and sugar free popsicles. I also can have a cup of Fat Free Milk once a day and 4 oz of juice once a day. I ended up with a wicked headache last night and took tylenol and went right to bed. Today I've been better. It has it's up's and down's but I know that I can do this. I'm definitely very ready for this and I'm looking forward to being healthy. If anyone else is on their pre-op diet please share how you're doing!
  4. Hi! I had those to complete as well. I was penciled in on my surgeon's operating calendar after I completed all of those and had my 3rd visit with him. My surgery is 4/29. My insurance (Aetna) required 3 visits to my surgeon, for 3 months. Once that was completed they sent in my paperwork for the insurance. Hoping to hear great news next week. I went Monday to see my surgeon and on Friday I started my pre-op diet. Liquids. UGH. It's been a tough 2 days. I know I can make it though, just like to complain here and there on the way! They told me that Aetna takes 1 to 2 weeks for approval, that has been their experience there at their office. So we shall see! GOod luck to you!
  5. Good luck! Hang in there!
  6. Hi! I will be banded on the 29th of this month. So I don't have a hands on experience to share; however I was at my surgeon's office yesterday for the pre-surgery visit and he told me that typically he sees that patients take anywhere from 1 to 2 weeks to be back to work after the surgery. He tells everyone to take at least one week to heal. He also told me that if I eat too fast or too much or don't chew enough I will most likely vomit. I think it's important that once you have found a surgeon to really ask them what they normally see, find etc with their patients and that might give you a better idea.
  7. I just went to the surgeon yesterday for my Pre-Surgery visit (I will be banded on the 29th!) And he told me to pick a Protein drink that as at least 25 to 35 grams of protein a serving so that I have at least 72 grams of protein a day. He said it's important to like the drink, so he never specifies any particular brand. I was at costco the other day and they have a Protein Drink that is 30 grams per serving. I plan to pick those up and see if I like them. I haven't tried them yet. My surgeon told me to keep taking a multi Vitamin daily.
  8. Congratulations! You are an inspiration!!!! way to go!!! I'm hoping to have those same results...I'll be banded on the 29th of this month.
  9. For my surgeon I had to go to the pulmonologist, have a sleep test, blood work, upper GI test, see a nutritionist and the psych study. I only had to see the nutritionist once and if I want I can continue to see her after the surgery. I really did not enjoy the sleep test, but the rest were fine to do! For my insurance I had to meet with the surgeon for three consecutive months. On Monday I go for my Pre-Surgery visit. I'm still scheduled for the 29th!
  10. Awesome! hang in there!

  17. Hi! I'm scheduled for my surgery as well on 4/29! We can do this together!!! I'm nervous and exicted at the same time. I just found this website and joined. I'm getting a lot of great advice and feedback. I think that is a great idea about starting on the liquids 2 days a week. I might have to do that as well. Get the body used to it! I'm looking for a great blender right now...that's my big project at the moment. ~Kendra
  18. Hi all- Looking for some suggestions for a blender. I really do not have any experience with a blender so this will be very new to me. I'm having my surgery on 4/29 so I'm trying to do some research and get prepared! Any suggestions that you have will be greatly appreciated!

  22. Greetings from the Jersey Shore! I just found this website and I am so thankful that I did. I'm a newbie. I'm scheduled to have my surgery on April 29th. I'm looking forward to a new start on life. I'm 35 years old. And I've been overweight on and off for most of my life. I'm ready for this. I look forward to hearing from everyone on their experiences and I cannot wait to share my own with you once I have the surgery!
  23. Hi! My scheduled date is April 29th! Nervous and excited at the sametime! It does seem so long away, but at least I have something to look forward to. I went to the doctor for the first time in January. So it's definitely been a countdown!!!
