  1. Researched it for months, found the right Doctor and US based company to coordinate everything for me. Now on pre op diet, fly out to San Diego Monday morning will be picked up by our driver with a lighter me, heading over the border for same day surgery in TJ. Very excited, going alone, not scared at all. Be back home next Friday. Will post my experience when I return home:)
  2. I'm having surgery at Mi doctor on 6/17 and staying at the Marriott. Will you be at the Marriott as well?
  3. Getlownurse, I believe you will be in TJ same time as me, my surgery is June 17, is yours the 18th at Mi doctor??
  4. Haven't been there yet. But a lot of these hotels have in house water filtration systems. Even tho they have that I still will not drink the tap or have ice, just to be on the safe side:)
  5. I didn't think it was that bad, but everyone's different. There wasn't any blood so I guess that may have made it tolerable for me... But it didn't change my mind, thank goodness!
  6. I did and just wondered if anyone else has... I am pre op.
  7. Yay!!! Congrats so happy for you:)
  8. Olivia, I think you can ask to see your removed stomach after the surgery. I've seen people post on here the pics of theirs. Just a thought, you could always ask your doctor...
  9. I second that! My surgery is June 17 at Mi Doctor, guess I better check with a lighter me and find out what's up....
  10. Thanks pixie & July & Laura, I took all your advice and bought it all:) I got the discounts on the shakes too, that really helped so much!!!!
  11. Heading to Costco looking for suggestions for tolerable vitamins, shakes or anything else I may need...
  12. Very excited for you! Prayers for a speedy recovery!
  13. Thanks for the feedback! I was told that after this surgery that the possibility of having gall bladder probs is high due to the fact that the gall bladder is used to taking the excess fats, could go bad after not getting all that crap since we are eating better food and not fatty foods. With that in mind, the thought of coming back from Mexico after this surgery and the possibility of having to be cut open again freaks me out!!!
  14. I am still pre op. I am sure I will hit the gym post op when I'm ready, but I can promise you even tho I don't mind working out, I'm not going to run, unless someone is chasing me! Lol!
  15. Trixie, thanks for all the great info. I think I can speak for a lot of us that we really appreciate you sharing your journey. Do you have any pre op & post op pics to post?
  16. I understand how you feel, I am a little over two weeks out... It will be here before you know it and then you'll be back home starting a new great life!!! And we will look FABULOUS very soon:)
  17. Good luck, your almost there!!!!
  18. Dr Lopez on June 17th for me:)
  19. Thanks for everyone's responses! Just found out my insurance won't cover the chantix rx.... Really??? I can see not covering my vsg surgery, but not covering a smoking cessation program to me is nuts... Anyways I found a coupon online from Pfizer for a $40 copayment, hopefully it will work. Trying to put my best foot forward here, and Aetna just doesn't want to help me: /
  20. Good luck, I'm sure you will do great!
  21. After 3 months of research I decided to go with A Lighter Me, MI Doctor hospital in TJ for June 17th, same day surgery. There are a lot of great doctors, you just need to find who you think you will be most comfortable with. I paying 4650 plus I am having my gall bladder removed at time of surgery as it is possible it could go bad after this surgery and hence, life change. That's 500 more, but it eliminates the possibility of being cut open again : / not everyone does that, nor has a problem. I'm excited, nervous, anxious, happy rolled into one. If it wasn't for the people and their support on this forum, I'm not sure what I would do'
  22. Thanks so much for your post! I am going to MI Doctor in 3 weeks. Although I have a different surgeon, your post with details of your experience really means so much. I will do the same after my surgery. Everyone's stories and support helps immensely!!!.
