Setting your goal weight
I set my first goal (with the band at 165) Just under the bmi of 25 cause of my frame I hide weight well and would have a lot of weight due to extra skin......however as I approached that number I decided I wanted to go to 150. When all was said in done I hung out most of the time (with the band) at 153 - 160. Which is a little below the BMI of 25 for my 68 1/2 inch frame. I was afraid to get much lower Cause I was a size 8-10 on the bottom and a small on top and my breasts were gone!

Please any help / advice would be greatly appreciated! Newly post-op
I had my surgery tuesday and am also able to drink as before.....same worry here too! I keep taking out my two different leak x rays and looking at the stomach to make sure it is all gone! (yep....not there) But I also "feel a little like when my band was full ......just a little tickle ....so I know that something is different. I have not tried yougurt. We are asked for 7-10 days clear and then 10 days full before starting mushies. SO I am just on clears. And occasionally hungry! But I am using RTD Isopure witht he 40 g Protein....2 a day and really only feel head hunger.....when i am cooking for the kids or smell others food....like at airport! Hope all is ol for you!

Shout out to Dr. Aceves pts and airline question
I live there.....south west had a direct (no plne change flight) both directions & it was only 4 hours on the plane monday. Same fora return. AA has only one direct till the end of august....... one of the ones getting dropped......I wanted that but it was so much more expensive than when I made resevations than when i looked (that 21 day thing)......but I was waiting on my expidited passport to come! before I purchased......did not turn out the way I planned.

In Your Opinion
did you try the iso pure ready to drink ones....... expensive...... but i like so much better that the powders. I lucked out and got four 12 packs for 1/2 price cause thhe were to expire aug first! They taste good to me! especially compared to the powdered.......i figure i will use the all before then. I also really like the soy Protein 95!

Just Curious......
What size "stomach" do you have......I can't remember how to even spell the "b" word....My husband has nicknamed it the bannana! My surgeon mostly prefers to use a 32......just interested and wondering if the size has anything to do with long term success or not?

When self-pay who pays for complications?
My policy here now reads no expenses to to any type of bariatric surgery (revision or fixes included). we have lost three appeals on getting them to pay for the parts they would not cover.....we even asked for the part i paid to come off the individual and family deductible....no luck. Our state insurance commission said if they exclude bariatric surgert....they can exclude whatever the deem related to it.....in our case what came down to life saving for the baby they paid for.....because of our maternity contract. ironically untill this last pregnancy....i had no problems....at goal and happy with my band and xrays and endo to prove it 1 month prior to conception I was told that it varies from state to state and then based on how policy was written. My dr here is making one last appeal...... but i am not holding out hope.

:scared0: got the shock of my life!!!! COLIN ......mr I will never talk:mad0: is saying word approximations for everything if prompted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbup1: He does have over 200+ signs. But no real verbal expressions but Sponge bob! For the first time since Miranda was in hospital for a week plus in 2005 HE SAID MOMMY and then "Ice ub ou" ....translated to I love you...... he just said smelly feet to me as I am typing when he was sticking them in my face!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 8 3/4 years... I have waited to hear him say mommy (he has always said "Spongebob though" ) I am so excited.....Grandma was crying when he said stuff to her on the phone.................. We have seen specialist after specialist.....COlin either refuses to cooperate or stares at them (he is mexican american and does have that machismo thing in spades.....he has about 9 little girls at school who love him to death!) We have struggled cause he is so late for talking for a little guy with Down Syndrome...... he used to have a few vocalizations.....long ago....but they went away..... but he was never diagnosed with autism too (Devon has that too!) SO I know have a new reason to be happy:w00t::001_rolleyes: to hold me over till I get my sleeve!!!!!!!!!!

When self-pay who pays for complications?
my insurance paid for certain things...... the hospitalization, the anesthia and the dr except for the actual surgeon fees (4 k billed to insurance.....requied to pay 2850 ....the part insurance would have paid him) or his little followers fees unless it was hospital visit. I also had to pay my deductible 1500$ but my whole hospital stay was well over 100K ....I also had an emergency c-section too caused by the lap band issue and need for surgery......the covered all this too!

Home and recovering
i KNOW THAT TPN SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Spent nearly 25 days on it at home and in and out of hospital........waiting for the baby to mature enought so if he had to be delivered when the took the band it would be safer fo him! I have no words of wisdom for how toget through it......it was the most horrible time in my life! I am so happy you family is with you........ thinking good thoughts for your speedy recovery!

NewBie with pcos
I know that when I did atkins for several minths and religiouly followed it! I threw and egg and got pregnant with my first biological child (10+ years of trying) SInce I never had any sort of regular periods I was almost 4 months pregnant before realizing.....this was all pre band! I got banded 12 1/2 months or so after Adrian's birth and with in two weeks and shedding the weight.... I started having periods every 2-3 weeks till I reached original goal of 175..... Then they switched to regular and I was on to a new goal! I got pregnant 5+ more times since the first with two carried to term! One with the band and one ended my band and was a preemie cause if it, I took metformin for three years before atkins, i did loose some weight with it..... and I still take it....cause if I do not..... it is way to easy to put on weight! I am scared cause Dr. is now thinking since I want no more kids he should take me off the metformin..............my husband said he would buy it on the b;ack market if he did.......cause it helps me with my mood swings (not suppossed too,,,,, buy both of us really believe it did! Good luck and I really think it will help...... but the PCOS does help make loosing weight harder imho with or without the band!
