    Not happy :(

I was banded in March 2013 and have only lost about 30# as well. I'm getting discouraged.

    Worried it won't work??

I had surgery in March. I'm still struggling with the idea that maybe I made a mistake. I have "only" lost 30# and have gained and lost the same 5 pounds several times over. The most significant weight loss I experienced was during the preop diet and the immediate post up (2 weeks). I am not in denial. I understand that it is not the band's fault that I haven't lost weight. It's still wrapped around the choices I make for what I eat and how I move (or don't as the case may be). I did my research and thought I knew what to expect but the reality is that no one can truly prepare because we are all individuals. My latest fill is the first time I have actually felt any restriction. So I'm hoping that now I will start to feel the way I expected to from the beginning. I'm in no way trying to be negative. I still have hope that this is going to be the answer for me. It's just not happening like I expected it to.
  3. I got banded March 19th and my weight loss and feeling of restriction (or lack of) and fills etc are almost identical to yours. I have been frustrated too. But, sounds like we are right where we should be.
  4. I'm struggling too. I had good losses the first month when I was doing my pre-op diet and my week after surgery I lost the most. Now I feel like I'm at a stand still. I have noticed I am slipping back into some old behaviors. I'm trying to work on that. Just had my second fill yesterday. I hope it makes a difference for me.

    First fill coming...6 mo post-op!

I had my first full today. I was very nervous as well. It was smooth and not painful. Just like a shot, quick and simple.

    Not full

I am finding the same frustrations. This is my 4th week post op. I have not had a fill yet. I feel hungry a lot. Even though I eat mainly Protein at meals. My old weaknesses are still there. I go to the doc next week for my first fill. I'm hoping he will release me to do more exercise too. I too have been feeling like this attempt has been no different than the 1400 other times I tried to "diet". Besides everything every one else has said I also found a mentor on this site. I have a friend who had surgery a few weeks before me. He helps me, answers questions, and is encouraging. I love the boards but I'm so glad I found someone to talk things over with.

    Banded March 20th

I was banded March 19th. To make a confession I haven't been the most compliant with my post op diet. I meant I'm not eating thick steak and chops or anything but I have been eating more than just mushies, I just chew everything to death. I'm feeling so hungry all the time. I don't have a fill yet of course, but I do okay in the morning until after lunch. In the evenings however, I am famished. I have increased my Protein a lot and I even made this wonderful tuna salad that has like 150 cals for the whole thing with only 2 carbs. So anyway, I'm so stressed. I am feeling a little discouraged. I sure hope having a fill makes a difference. Maybe you will have more success than I have in these early days since you are actually following the guidelines....

    March 2013 Surgery Dates?

So happy!! I have not told anyone at work about my surgery. I have only told my close friends that I am even trying to lose weight (for the umpteenth time!!). Anyway..................... THREE people yesterday at work commented on my weight. One person said I was looking very healthy, another one said she could tell I had been working out (which I haven't) and the last person asked my what I was doing different because I looked really good. I'm so excited. I don't care what other people think about me really, it's just nice to know that I'm starting to "show". Thanks I just needed to share!!

    Port incision pain

I'm so happy to find this post. I was having the exact same thing and I was so worried. I'm glad to know others have it too, so maybe that means it's normal. THANKS!!

    March 2013 Surgery Dates?

Liquid vicodin= liquid gold. Man I have never been so thankful for a little shot of fluid in my life. When I'm feeling better I might try making it into a drink........ Just kidding!

    March 2013 Surgery Dates?

Okay I don't want to complain, but I am feeling pretty much back to "normal" today. EXCEPT, when I move the place where my port is just sends sharp pains through me. It's a very localized area so I assume it's my port, but jeez enough already. I took ibuprofen. I hope it's better before I have to work on Monday.

I have some bruises too. I'm going pretty well all things considered. I think I'm going to venture out of the house today.

    March 2013 Surgery Dates?

I'm 3 days post-op. Doing OK. Pretty sore. Had my first cup of coffee since Monday. I LOVE coffee, so happy to be drinking it again.

    5 days post op

I know this conversation is a week old but I'm so glad I found it. I am 3 days post-op and it's nice to hear other people having the same struggles. Not that I want people to have struggles but it's nice to know mine are normal. I'm not hungry and I'm having a little concern about enough protein. I had my first cup of coffee this morning, oh how I missed my coffee. Things get a little better every day. I have had some significant pain, but I'm using less pain medication each day. Anyway, thanks!

    March 2013 Surgery Dates?

My FIRST post! I'm scheduled for surgery March 19th. I'm on day two of my pre-op diet. Which, by reading some others' posts I am understanding is not that restrictive. I am struggling already. I mean if I was able to successfully cut down eating this much on my own, I wouldn't need surgery right? Just kidding. I know lots of people have done it and I can too. I'm just frustrated and I have learned that I get really crabby when I don't eat. This too shall pass......
