  1. I am going to order the sample pack tomorrow. I cringed at the thought of the chicken soup one but it has excellent reviews online. Now i think it sounds like a nice change from the typical shake. I'm also keen on the idea of the unflavored in coffee! Can't wait to give them a try. I've got to find some favorites before I go on my one week liquid pre-op diet!
  2. GREAT QUESTION!! I wondered the same thing and just figured it was an average and I am happy to hear the responses support my idea that it would be up to me to lose everything I want to lose. I just had my consultation today and physical today. Will have the lab results tomorrow and hopefully funding as well since I am self-pay.... I am praying to have a surgery date scheduled by Friday!! I will be so excited if I can get the band for my birthday on March 23rd!! I already received my pre-op diet info and only have to do 5 days liquid then 2 days clear liquid before surgery!!! I have never looked forward to a pure liquid diet like I am now!
  3. Hi Christa! There are LOTS of video blogs on Youtube and I have spent weeks watching video after video and have found so many common factors among the success stories. I feel like the complications are out there no matter what method of weight loss you choose....or don't choose. I have been considering the band for several years and put it off due to the "risks" ... but those risks are a slim possibility and I know that the risks that come with being overweight are guaranteed for me at this point. So, I'm choosing to take the risk and do EVERYTHING I can do be a success story. There is risk in everything we do in life and I want to be out there experiencing life instead of hiding at home in shame. I can not wait to get my band. I think that once you decide you will know without a doubt you are doing the right thing for yourself...you shouldn't make the decision to do it until you are confident because it is a big commitment.
  4. I am just starting my journey. In fact I am outside the clinic now waiting for my 2pm appointment. Once I have a surgery date I plan to be completely honest and tell anyone that inquires. I want to be an inspiration to anyone that has these struggles and I don't want to give anyone false hope that just diet and exercise is always enough because some people need additional help. Lap band is a tool and I am going to be proud to use the tool available to help me have a healthier life. People don't think twice about getting breast implants these days and that's all vanity...it's so sad the social stigma that comes with weight issues. I hope to be a "poster child" success story for Lapband! I wish everyone on this journey much success! We are in this together and only we can truly understand what this journey feels like.
  5. Congratulations! That is great news! Sorry I can't answer any of your questions since I haven't even met with the surgeon yet. I have my first consultation tomorrow!
  6. Sounds exactly like what I am hoping to experience! Thanks for the encouragement! I am hoping for surgery as soon as possible. Do you have to do a low cal diet for a couple of weeks followed by a pure liquid diet for a week before the surgery?
  7. Thanks! Were they able to tell you how long it will be before you can have the surgery? I have read so many different stories so I guess it's different for everyone. I have found that self-pay seems to happen ALOT quicker.
  8. So glad I found this site! Thank you for all you do!
  9. Hi, I have my first consultation with Surgical Weight Loss Centers tomorrow. I am super nervous and very excited. I am just wondering if there is anyone on here who has dealt with SWLC? About 2 years ago I went to my primary care physician for help with my weight and I was absolutely humiliated and put on anti-depressants instead of receiving help for my weight issues. I took the pills for a while and decided that was not the way I wanted to handle things. I need help not medication. So I stopped taking the pills and have not gone back to the DR. I am hoping that going to an office that specializes in weight loss, I may be treated with respect. One can hope, right??
