Calling All 50+ Diabetics!
I was insulin dependent and I also noticed during my pre-op diet. I didn't need insulin every day but it would begin to creep back up after a few days and I'd use it again for a while. I am now completely off of insulin and just taking oral meds. Keep us posted!

Four and a half months in...
Never said I had been a slow loser but that the rate the weight is coming off now is slowing down.

Four and a half months in...
You eat just like I do Congrats on your success! I was banded 11-28-2012 and I've lost 66 lbs. I'm ecstatic!! My losing has slowed down too, but I knew it would and I don't mind. I'm an entirely different person! I'm also happy to be on this forum. Its the best by far!!

Question. Fluro
I had one of those the day of surgery, during recovery. I haven't heard about doing another one, but it makes sense.

Today started off less than favorable...
I didn't have to take it long, but my surgeon gave me liquid pain meds after surgery. Otherwise my everyday meds have all gone down well, even after 2 fills. Actually I always have trouble taking pills I cut up, even before surgery. I used to take half a cholesterol med. Always end up coughing them up and trying again which gives me anxiety, ha! I hope you manage better from now on.

True Results houston - share your experience
I think this was referring to my post.... I have followed their instructions on eating and exercise. I walk 2 to 3 miles, 5 or 6 days a week. I also log my food on MFP. Also, because of my diabetes I limit my carbs but not too much. Since I'm off of insulin, I just need to watch them closely. It has worked perfectly for me.

True Results houston - share your experience
I also had my surgery at True Results Houston by Dr. Hollis on November 28, 2012. I have hit the goal they set for me for 12 months in less than 4. All I've done is follow their directions and I'm down 66lbs and hit "onderland" today! The follow up care is fantastic. I love the support. No worries they will give you more post-op information. Good luck to you all and keep us posted!

Where are all the banders;
I was banded in November 2012 and have done very well. I've actually met my bariatric centers goal for 12 months in 4 months. That being said, I cannot imagine going back to where I was before surgery. I am now off of insulin. That was one of my main goals! Along with that, the expense of insulin and pump supplies is gone! My energy level is amazing and I'm able to do anything I want at this point. I do miss some foods, but the cravings are gone. If I ate something that I shouldn't, I would need to cover it with insulin to be able to handle it. I'd rather not and that is a big deal. Emotionally I understand how patients gain their weight back, but at this point, no food is worth the sad life I had at that weight and state of health. I suppose some are not willing or ready or able to make the change necessary. I was so ready to have my life back! Yes, I'm aware that it is easy for me to make these statements at this point, but my will is strong.
