Calling All 50+ Diabetics!

After a very long 2 year preparation process, my surgery date is scheduled for Thursday, February 7. My question goes out to all of you who are diabetic. When did you begin seeing a lowering of your blood sugar levels after surgery? Given that we are all different and metabolisms vary, I wanted to get a feel for your experiences. My surgeon told me today during our pre-op meeting that she can’t guarantee that I’ll be free from my 4x daily insulin injections. Thanks for the opinion 3 days before surgery!! Thanks to all in advance. I’ll be away from a computer until February 12. Wish me luck!!

i noticed it on the pre-op diet, i am not insulin dependent though...i am getting banded 4-1, keep in touch!

I was insulin dependent and I also noticed during my pre-op diet. I didn't need insulin every day but it would begin to creep back up after a few days and I'd use it again for a while. I am now completely off of insulin and just taking oral meds. Keep us posted!
