  1. Wow you guys down 40+lbs are amazing!!! Great job! What were your starting weights & your goals? Most importantly, what does your typically daily menu consist of? I could use any helpful tips!!!
  2. I will be 6 wks on the 27th. My total loss has been 25 lbs. 18 pre op, 7 post op. I feel like mine is slow also. I keep telling myself that my goal is to lose 65 lbs which isn't as much as some others goals. I also remind myself that my dr is still dealing with my meds to regulate my thyroid due to having mine removed several years ago. On my one month band date I rejoined my local gym:) I am doing 1 hour of Zumba 4 days per week. We have to remind ourselves that even if it is only 1 step forward, it is a step in the right direction:) hoping my weight loss will pick up next month!
  3. I have noticed several people place protein in their yogurt or other food to help reach their daily goal. What brands/names are you guys using?
  4. Thanks everyone for all of the response. I do remember filling out paperwork for a card in my start up packet back in Dec. Hopefully, I will be receiving mine soon:)
  5. I'm not sure that I would use it much b/c most kids menus are fried nuggets or burgers but there are a few menus w/ small steak portions or grilled items. I have also heard you can use them at buffets. I can't eat half a plate of food now much less a large buffet amount. An adult buffet vs. a child buffet price is typically a large amount. We typically eat out once on the weekend & I don't want my family always working around my WLS.
  6. Most of our local restaurants do not allow anyone over 12 yrs of age to order from the kids menu. I have been sharing with my 4 yr old when he is with me. If not I typically order grilled fish or chicken with steamed veggies.
  7. Did anyone receive a card for dining out??? I have heard you will be allowed to order off the kids menu rather than the adult. My dr's office has not mentioned this but I would love to ask. I am wasting so much food & money even with to go plates. I can get 4 meals from one to go box of grilled fish & veggies! I am tired of it after the 2nd round:)
  8. I was banded on 01/16 & up until yesterday was doing great with no hunger between meals. Haven't really lost any pounds but my clothes are getting big. Yesterday I wanted to eat EVERYTHING in sight. I didn't but boy was it hard! Today I have been starving. I go back to my dr on 01/27 & I hope to get a fill. I am dreading the next 3 wks if it keeps going like this....I am praying for tons if willpower:)
  9. Good luck. I'm hoping to start back at the gym very soon. I love Zumba!!!
  10. I feel you:( I have been doing my food journal & staying under 1000 calories per day & can't seem to lose a thing!!! Ugh! I'm trying to stay positive but it is very hard. I have really been struggling.
  11. What did everyone lose their first month following surgery? Just wondering everyone's starting weight then post op weight after the first month. I started at 226, lost 18 lbs pre op & 2 lbs so far post op. I am 2.5 weeks post op. Hoping things will speed up soon!!
  12. I went to my 2 wk post op on Thurs. I was down 1 lb. & my nurse seemed very disappointed. She stated most patients lose 10lbs their first 2 weeks. I explained my lack of BMs & the fact that I was bloated due to my period starting this week. She told me to drink Magnesium Citrate to help get things going. I did the Mag. Citrate on Thurs & Sat. I went a few times but nothing like she said it would be. I am probably going to my regular Dr tomorrow for X-rays. I have had BM problems since my partial hysterectomy in Aug. I saw my regular Dr in Oct concerning it & he put me on Mirilax & stool softners. Nothing really happened:/ I have been doing the stool softners since Thurs & took MOM last night with the Mag Citrate. I just wish I could get straightened out:/ I don't think my weight loss will ever get on track if my body will not get rid of waste. Hoping we will figure out what's causing the problems!!!
  13. 18 pounds pre-op. I am 2 weeks post op & have gained back 2 lbs. hoping its just the healing process & premenstraul bloating:/
  14. I have taken MOM the past 2 night & nothing. I hope the dr can give me some advice Thurs.
  15. I am definitely learning patience. Lol! I keep telling myself to suck it up for the first 6 weeks but man it is hard not to get down. At least I'm not starving & upset:) I have noticed a huge difference in my appetite. Very seldom am I hungry between meals & it doesn't take much to fill me up during a meal. My biggest struggles are getting my Protein in (because I'm not hungry) & eating slow with out drinking! I have GOT to master slowing down & not grabbing my glass. My dr said the protein will get better once I can eat more.
  16. I am a little disappointed in my journey right now. I am 12 days post op, I have been on mushies since day 7 & I am using Fitness Pal to count my calories. I am not going over 1000 calories per day & nothing is happening. As a matter of fact l have not gone over 800 calories since the surgery:( I am hoping its the whole body healing or not getting enough calories problem. I go for my follow up on Thurs & maybe my dr can give me some guidance. ???©
  17. I was told to use Miralax in Oct by my family doc due to bathroom issues & it did not help at all. Now I have added the WLS & boy is it horrible. I am going to try the MOM until Thurs. I go to my surgeon for my 2 wk follow & I am going to ask him. I could probably lose weight if I wasn't storing away so much poop!
  18. I was banded on 1/16 & cannot go to the bathroom without talking Dulcolax:( Once I take it I get SEVERE stomach cramping but I finally use the restroom. I have saw several threads concerning ppl using milk of magnesia. Can anyone who has gone this route please tell me the regimen you put yourself on & does it cause cramping?
  19. Thanks ladies:) It was a first for me. I'm thinking it may not be a bad thing...I used to eat like crazy when I got home after a stressful day. Well not so much today I felt like my band was strangling my stomach. No more stress eating for me???„
  20. I was banded on 01/16/13 & everything is going great. I did learn today that becoming stressed made my band feel super tight. I normally am not put in highly stressful situations at work but today was just one of those days:( Just wondering if I'm the only one to experience this when stressed??
  21. I must say that I feel 100% better today. Still some gas pains but they are much better than yesterday. I got up around 6 & have been cleaning & playing with my 4 year old. Hoping I'm on the road to recovery:)
  22. I am much better today. No pain meds & managed to go grocery shopping with the family. I'm getting an appetite now but it's still hard to get much down. I have managed 1/4 cup of broth, 1/2 Protein shake & 1/2 a Gatorade. I hoping to manage a little more broth for supper.
