  1. Does anyone know how this works? Should I be freaking out?
  2. Ok, I have BCBS Federal so it's really a good insurance to have. It requires 3 months diet with NUT BMI with 35-40 with comorbidities or BMI over 40. My BMI is over 40 and I have a month and a half to go on the NUT thing. My problem is they also have to submit a two year history from my regular doctor showing a BMI OVER 40 I'm one of those people who bounce all over the place and lose and gain weight constantly. Last December I was 180 now I'm 250. I don't know if I was over 40 during the last two years when I went to doctor. I am waiting on my records from my PCP. Anyone else experience this? Trouble with the two year history? How strict is the insurance company?
  3. Thank you lessofme and Aimee. The appointment was awesome!! He was very informative and took his time to answer all my numerous questions. I am definitely switching!! Thank you for going through this with me Aimee-I don't think I'll be able until like the 14th but ill be cheering and praying for you!!
  4. Thank you Aimee. Pray for me. Appointment us tomorrow.
  5. I am insurance and I'm trying to figure about the program fee. Dr Merriman charges an additional $400 fee for aftercare program that is not billable to insurance. From looking at the BSC website I think Dr Davidson also charges a fee like that but I'm not sure. I guess I'll find out Friday.
  6. Thank y'all so much for replying and letting me know. Aimee-did you choose to wait until December or was he booked up until then? You don't have to answer I was just curios since you are self pay and don't have to jump through the hoops like some of us I figured you would have surgery sooner unless of course you just wanted to wait. Anyway, I'm not trying to pry just asking questions. I really want to have surgery early December (that's when my ins requirements will be done). If he is out or that busy that may not happen. Lessofme-were you self pay or insurance?
  7. I have an appointment with Dr Davidson on Friday the 26th. I have already started this journey with Dr Merriman in Shreveport but after reading about some experiences with Dr Davidson, I made an appointment with him. The fact that he is a Christian and actually prays for and with his patients goes a long way with me. I have only met Dr Merriman once but the hospital where he does the surgery is kind of a "hole in the wall" and he seemed rushed and irritated with my many questions. So I was a little uneasy. I'm sure he is a great surgeon so please do not get upset with me anyone who uses/used him. We just all have to make our decisions based on what we as individuals are the most comfortable with. My question is for anyone who used Dr Davidson. Anything else you can tell me about Dr Davidson that would assure me I'm making the right decision to switch? Or anything to deter me?
  8. Thanks to everyone for your input. I didn't get to eat today until about 1:00 this afternoon and I had a horrible headache. I drank only Water today so I'm starting the caffeine take away
  9. Wow what an awful time you've been through. God must have big plans for you.
  10. Oh Is that what head hunger means? I get excruciating headaches and I just always thought it was probably because my sugar was low. I am not diabetic but I just thought maybe because I'm going a long time without eating it gave me a headache. So you think that will go away?
  11. Ok once again I'm probably posting this in the wrong place. If I am please forgive me in advance. I want to know if hunger headaches continue after surgery. I get headaches a lot due to lots of stuff but if I go a long time without eating I get a hunger headache. I'm worried after surgery when I can't eat ill have a headache all the time. Anyone else experience that it am I alone?
  12. You are definitely not alone. I have it too. The smallest I've been as an adult was a size 8 and even then my thighs rubbed. I have big butt and legs. They're going to rub together when I walk. And I have the discoloration and blackheads too.
  13. Great job. Guess you figured out how to post the pic
  14. Thank you for your support.
  15. Thanks doxie I'll call and ask and no, I don't want the whole nine yards.
  16. I really think my problems stem from my weight. I don't have any "under lying issues." I'm fatter than I want to be, fatter than everyone else in the picture and that bothers me to the point I cried for a while. Maybe I used the wrong word when I said breakdown. I didn't actually fall out in the floor and ball my eyes out but I did cry at work because I was confronted head on with something that really bothers me-my weight and how others see me because of it. I don't usually cry at work or get so upset but today it hit me hard so I said breakdown. I think I am insecure and have low self esteem because I feel unhappy with the way I look and the way I feel others see me. I don't think I need to see a therapist about any deep rooted issues but a WLS therapist that has insight on dealing with obesity and having the surgery and all that comes with it is probably not a bad idea. Thank you everyone for all your support and encouragement. I come to this forum when I want to "feel better" about myself.
  17. I think I am just ready to lose weight and keep it off. When I have lost in the past I have felt better. It's just temporary because I gain it back. I am an "emotional" eater but I'm also a "the food is good "eater and " its the social thing to do" eater. I'm overweight because I've eat too much and too much bad stuff I just feel it has taken over my life. My grandmother was in the hospital last week with her heart and kidneys. I wasn't really close to that side of the family. Sadly she did die but I know she is in a better place now and she was ready. My point is I was so worried she was going to die because then I'd have to go to the funeral and see all the family I haven't seen in years and I'm so fat. I didn't want to be around everyone. That side is skinny. I get the obesity from my moms side. Then I felt super guilty for worrying about myself instead of my dad who just lost his mother. My mom keeps trying to get me to go to a wedding of some family friends and I won't go to that for the same reasons I just feel like there is so much I would do and enjoy if I wasn't fat.
  18. My husband called me back and that's what he said too. Well he said I'm very insecure. He said I'm beautiful and nobody thinks all the things I think they think. You're right WLS won't fix my head. So how so I deal with with feeling so awful about myself? I'm supposed to have surgery early December.
  19. I just had a horrific experience at work. October is breast cancer awareness so today our whole department wore pink. They all wanted to take a picture and I was mortified. I kept saying, "I don't want to." and they kept pushing. Finally, I think one of the girls understood and said, "don't worry about it, we'll do it later" and they all walked off. Maybe she could see the tears in my eyes because when they left I just lost it. Then one girl starts hugging me saying, "Jessica, you're pretty no matter what." I'm sure she means well but that doesn't help. I'm 5'7" and weigh 245. I have gained so much weight in the last six months (like 65-70 lbs) and I hate myself and the way I look. I feel like everyone is staring at me and thinking I'm such a pig. I try not to eat in front of anyone because I'm always worried they're thinking "why is she eating? she's so fat." I am so tired of battling my weight. I've gained and lost 60-90 pounds several times of the last 8 or 9 years and I'm just miserable. It hurts so much and I know it's my own fault but it still hurts. I just hate what I've become. This is the only place I feel people might understand. I called my husband because I got so upset and I told him what happened and he said, "ok, baby." He totally doesn't get it. I just feel I don't have anyone that understands, but y'all do right?
