  1. Sorry Nicole K, I think I need dairy free, not lactose free.
  2. Yep, I ditto what Nicole K said! I'm only 8 days and each day is getting better! I had buyers remorse and post op blues on days 3-5. Besides the diahhrea (ick and tmi) each day is getting better. It's hard with all the meds and trauma your whole body has experienced. Walk and sip, walk and sip! Congrats!!
  3. I know, I feel like TMI is already a disclaimer for posting on here! What protein did you use with the ff/lactose free milk? Thank you
  4. I'm 8 days post op and wondering if the Protein shakes I've tried are contributing to my diahhrea? The 2 I've tried both contain milk. Today I had .5 ounce of one and within 5mins I was in the bathroom. I talked to the nurse and she said everyone experiences lactose intolarents differently. Which I can understand, but I don't want to keep on testing to see if I'm lactose intolarent! With that, does anyone have suggestions for a good tasting lactose free protein shake/powder? Thanks for your help! So...just realized the shakes I had were lactose free, but contained milk. So, now I'm rephrasing my question. Anyone have good suggestions for a dairy free protein shake/powder?
  5. Frogjr you are a champ!! Walking that much right away!!! I was so tired couldn't keep my eyes open to sip or walk. The meds kicked my butt!! I'm one week post op and had post op blues pretty bad day 3,4 and 5. I haven't cried the past 2 days, so that is good news!! Stopped taking pain meds on day 5. I'm so tired of jello, broth and popsicles!!! Powerade helped getting extra liquids down. I've had diahhrea every day since day 3. This morning I don't even want to drink cuz it cramping. My Dr said I might have an infection in my colon so I have to go back in. I did try some foods yesterday so I wonder if its the dumping?? It's been a crazy week but I'm glad to be post op now!!!
  6. Thanks Heather. Not sure what you mean by "full liquids"? Doc said I could upgrade to puree foods tomorrow and try protein drinks today (small amt at first).
  7. 6 days post op and feeling better. Those post op blues were intense! I hope that is over! I'm craving a cup of coffee today, but know it might not be good on my pouch. I think I'm missing the morning habit of something warm and yummy. I tried decaf green tea yesterday and that did not go well. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
  8. Hi Vickilynn...first of all is 1973 the year you were born? If so, that was a great year! I had my surgery on Thursday, 1/3/13. Pain is getting less each day, but those gurgglie, swooshing, bubbly sounds throughout my intestines and stomach are crazy! Today was my first day that I only took one 45min nap. I have cut way back on the pain meds. I had a bout of depression this morning, diarrhea (sorry if that is TMI) all day long and I want to eat something crunchy!!! I'm on liquids only for 1-2 weeks, no protein until I get cleared from DR when I see him on Friday. The tape on my incisions is itching like crazy!! I think I'm slightly allergic, due to the rash. I'm watching Biggest Loser right now, and still happy with my decision for surgery. I do hope I will have stamina in a year from now to work out that hard. I also want to do another 1/2 marathon.
  9. I was planning on sleeve, then dr reviewed my scope pictures and strongly suggested bypass instead. I have some damage from reflux. This was just 10 days ago and my surgery is in 5 days. I was a little freaked out but know its the right choice! I've done a lot of research online and meet with DR again on Monday.

  11. Hi, I am new here. Started my journey in August. Up until last week I was scheduled for the sleeve. Doc reevaluated my images from the scope and explained that I have some damage from reflux. He wants me to have bypass instead. My surgery is sched for Jan 3, Federal Way WA. I'm starting my liquid diet. I woke up feeling anxious this morning. Called the nut. office and sched a visit for 3 week post op. I think that will help! I love reading all the posts and how supportive everyone is! Also, just to double check RNY is for any gastric bypass surgery? Thx! ????
  12. I'm Jan 10! I'm so excited!! I've been so anxious the past few months that I've had to go shopping again cuz my clothes are not fitting! The last thing I want to do right now is buy clothes! I will enjoy that after surgery! 2013 is our year!!!!
  13. During the nutrition class the pharmacist came in and spoke about not taking Cymbalta. I was concerned and spoke to my Dr. Both my psychiatrist and dr said I will be fine with Cymbalta. That was a huge relief because I've been doing so well on it! I'm not sure why mine is allowing it?
  14. I'm scheduled for January 10. I was scheduled for Dec 6, but work asked me to wait until after the Holidays. I was really upset at first but now realize it is for a reason. I am so excited! 9 years being 100+ pounds overweight and I'm ready to shed it off!
  15. Me too.. Just awaiting insurance approval!!!
