  1. this has always been my nickname - from the time i was a little girl - because i was always pulling practical jokes on my Aunts when i was younger they would call me a Devil - and since my real name is Dava Lynn and Devil Lynn sounds like that it just stuck - so that is what I have been called my whole life. Well that and Big BUtt Bertha...lmao!!!! (not said in a hateful way) When i was about 5 my uncle actually married a woman named Bertha - you can imagine what happened - I asked her - so... do they call you Big Butt Bertha too? hahahahahah!!! she was very high bread and she didn't laugh too much at that to say the least...but everyone else did!!! hahahah!!!! The Devil strikes again!
  2. My Name is Earl, OITNB, Kimmy Schmidt, Raising Hope, Psych, The Vicar of Dibley, Keeping up Appearances, Criminal Minds, anything Food Network, anything Gordon Ramsay, Dr. Who, Numb3rs, CSI, Drop DEad Diva, anything BBC really...
  3. CW - 194 - YAY! I'm a loser again!!
  4. i am glad it is helping you. it had the same affect on me with cokes - made them taste horrible - and i am so glad!!! Good luck to you!
  5. @@Rogofulm i had mostly good reviews - can't complain!! it wouldn't do me any good otherwise - hahahah! I hope your play is going well?
  6. i take topamax for my migraines - and it does affect my weight - i think it is one of the reasons i do not eat as much daily - i just do not get hungry. Also it made cokes taste like there was melted pennies in them so it was very easy for me to get off those. It definitely affected my taste buds - but in a good way i think - i taste things in a different way but i also crave things that before i thought were gross - certain vegetables for instance - it is crazy!! Good luck to you! It has helped my migraines as well - i take 100mg a day - 50 in the am and 50 in the pm. But i like i said mine was just for the headaches i didn't even know they were giving it for weight loss until recently- i hope it helps you!
  7. i know how you feel. i know this other lady - and i've known her for over 20 years - and we have both had the sleeve done and both have lost over 100 pounds and we just finished a play this last week and at every rehearsal she made a reference to the fact that we aren't "fatties" "big girls" or "huge" any more....and then would just laugh like it was the biggest joke in the world and proceed to tell everyone how we had both had surgery blah blah blah...every. single. time. I kid you not. I was sick to death of hearing that shit and i know my fellow actors were as well. I wanted to punch her in the face. i have people that come up to me all the time and say - hey what happened to the rest of you?? I usually say something stupid - like nuclear reactor meltdown...tapeworms...congo fever.....something along those lines and then walk off....because they all know what the HELL happened to the rest of me...sheesh!! hahahahahahah!!!! I don't think people realize how it puts us on the spot really.....i do think they feel like they are being complimentary...and sometimes they are...but sometimes they are just jerks.
  8. i have a large family so i have always bought in bulk and separated and froze and made my own stuff like you do - it is just a habit now and it is easier to me. i do not like the way that most frozen pre-packaged foods taste - with all the preservatives in them. I have a farm so i grow most of my own food and raise my own meat as well - fresh is best! LOL!
  9. i had a 1 pound gain - ack!!!!!!!!! CW - 196
  10. i was lured in by the promise of a naked kitty......here kitty kitty........MEOW!!!!
  11. i had HH done with my VSG and i was off work for a week for my surgery and worked from home for a week after then back in my office the next week after that - it isn't a big deal really. I am glad i got it fixed tho i suffered from reflux my whole life and now it's gone!
  12. i didn't get hungry at first but now at a year out i do get hungry - it isn't the same kind of hungry that i used to get and it is satisfied a lot quicker - usually after just a few bites - so it important to only eat what you can actually hold and listen to your body. I think that you can choose what you want to eat since you are an adult but remember that those choices will impact your weight loss - so if you eat grits instead of a small portion of high Protein it could slow the weight loss process - I'm no doctor and i don't even play one on TV but that is just my own opinion. Good luck! You can do this!!
  13. i drink with a straw now. and i don't really count things - i just kinda eyeball them. i do count my protein and water tho.
  14. i am at 1 year out and i still drink a shake each morning - Syntrax Nexctar i love the chocolate - and i have some greek yogurt or a hard boiled egg around 10 - lunch is going to be something high in protein as well - my afternoon snack is going to be a protein snack too - peanut butter or a protein bar is my favorite - i also drink a syntrax nectar somewhere in the day that mixes with water for added protein (23 grams) and it helps with my water intake - then supper is going to high protein too and then right before bed a snack. i do this every day. I tried to cut out the shakes and supplements but my protein levels were low each time i went in to get a check up and it isn't worth it to try and just eat enough - i couldn't do it - so i drink the supplements.
  15. i want in! SW - 195 Goal - 185
  16. yes! i know we all deal with this kind of stuff in some form or fashion - i ignored them for a couple weeks and then they caught me in a group setting one day and i quite plainly told them in front of of the whole group that i did not appreciate their remarks and to keep their "advice" on my weight loss to themselves and to keep their fake compliments to themselves as well. and then i turned my head up and walked off like a boss. It was EPIC. hahahaha and liberating. that was last week and a few of my other co-workers have come up to me and told me how much they admired me for saying that to them that i am not the only person they have been bullying and that now i hope others will put them in their place as well. I do know they haven't been coming around as much so that is a bonus! But i was very professional and very calm that day (so not me!) and i hope that this puts an end to the fake crap around here - Granny always said - "if you cain't be nice I'll whip your ass" hahahahahaha! I'm pretty sure she meant that other thing about doing unto others or saying nice things ... or some such.... Have a good Monday folks!
  17. my surgeon told me exactly what to expect if i followed my plan - he told me how much weight i could expect to lose and in how much time it would take me to lose it and as long as i stuck to the plan he laid out i would meet those goals and prob pass them and he was right - i am almost one year post op and i am 25 pounds from my goal weight that he set at my consultation. Do i allow myself to have some foods that are not on my plan - hell yes i do - what's life without some pie in it? Dang! But i also follow my Protein guidelines and drink my Water and exercise. And i have the best doctor in the state of Texas and his staff is wonderful too. ( i love to brag on him - he gave me back my life so i shout it from the rooftops every chance i get) We have to work this tool we have folks - we all know this.
  18. whooohoooo!! Congratulations! That is the best feeling in the world! At least it was for me!! HAahahaha! Keep up the hard work!!
  19. final weight for me is 195 - i did not hit my goal of 190 but i got very close!! and i am still going strong!!! I never thought i would weigh under 200 ever again in my life so anything under that is mind blowing for me every day!! This was fun!! yay! Great job everyone!!!
  20. thanks y'all! i am going to pull out my old Richard Simmons videos too! I loved the sweating with the oldies! that is a great idea! I am also going to ride my bike this evening as well. Thanks for all the kind and encouraging words!
  21. i hope your husband gets good news this week and that his treatments are easy on him and that he has a full and speedy recovery. I will be thinking of you in the days ahead.
  22. ok ..time for me to get my self together...i am going to admit to myself and everyone else ...i have not been eating like i should and i have not been exercising at all for months - well not at all but a bare minimum - just my farm work. I have been skating by in the honeymoon phase and i am pretty sure that is over now. I am almost a year out and i have to get serious about this again. i have to start exercising - starting today - NO excuses - i had to have two surgeries in January (gallbladder related) and needed recovery time from those but i am well now and there is no reason for me not to be moving my body - i also know that i have not been eating the way i should - while it is not completely out of whack - sugary foods all the time etc... i have been snacking late at night and eating things that i should not at those times. I also know that i am not hitting my Protein level daily - even though i kid myself and i say that i am "close" enough. Today i planned my meals and my Snacks and i have been drinking my Water and planned my meals to include enough protein for my daily level. That is one goal for today - when i get home i will exercise. I will do this daily. I will keep doing this until it is routine for me. I have to take this seriously - like i did in the beginning - i cannot slack. Thanks for letting me vent my inner most and getting that off my chest. I don't feel judged here and i feel supported in this crazy world i live in now!
  23. i like to put some honey bunches of oats cereal in my yogurt - not a lot but just a little crunch - sometimes i get some granola to put in it but if i just have the cereal then i do that - but i like it plain as well. And i can eat the whole container too!! LOL
  24. CW 197 - stayed the same this week.
  25. i hope you heal very quickly!!! OUCH!
