  1. Be careful with the Polygamy, I told my wife the other day that if we got a sister wife, I would still lover her the best. Some women just don't know how to take a compliment.
  2. How could I not know this, I am going to go home tonight and try it out http://jewelpie.com/easy-way-to-peel-mandarin-oranges/
  3. just as easy as losing weight by eating less and moving more, wouldn't you agree? After all some people have no problem doing it that way
  4. First thing: Follow your Dr.s instructions. Second thing: See first thing.
  5. I am so tired of these pissing matches where people think they have to get the last word in, but they keep showing up in new content. We have the ability to block users, why not the ability to block threads? Yes, I know I have the ability to not click on them, I also had the ability to loose weight without surgery, you can see where that got me.
  6. Posting time outs??? I thought this was a post about disciplining some of the posters on the board.
  7. This guy is definitely a candidate for WLS! http://www.orlandosentinel.com/entertainment/blogs/tv-guy/os-sex-sent-me-to-the-er-coming-soon-20131205,0,437635.post

  9. I was a 6-7 a day Diet Coke addict pre-band. Tasted one the other day and thought to myself, I actually used to put this nasty tasting stuff in my mouth???
  10. For the most part people are reporting and increased libido. Personally, if mine had gotten any higher, I would have had to resort to polyandry or polygamy (Although, it has gotten more varied). The reasons? Better health, more energy, better self image, more attractive to your partners, take your pick. BTW, this is an incredibly individual response area, but if you are experiencing a decrease in libido I would check with your PCP.
  11. "They" also say that President Obama was born in Kenya. "They" also say that President Obama is a secret Muslim. "They" also say that President Obama is a socialist. "They" also say that the world is flat. Bovine Feces. Show me one credible source that says that 100+ million people will have their health care canceled because of the ACA next year.
  12. premier Protein crisp bars. I get them from costco. I keep couple in my desk drawer and in my car for emergencies.
  13. Couple of things stand out: 1. There is an immediate "Ewww" factor for me about pumping egg whites on to things like my oatmeal, but that is just me. 2. Medical and weight loss claims on the site, tend to make me a tad leery. I can't see how it would be any different from a powered protein made from egg whites, but If you choose to use it, let us know how it goes.
  14. Continues to lure me to my doom. Despite the warning of Mistress Band I continue to fail, when I should be finished, there is that one last bite or two that looks so lonely sitting on my plate. Too small to save, but such a waste to throw it in the trash, I give in and it pushes me past my limit and into the promised realm of discipline from my mistress. All to no avail, since I end up offering it to the watery grave of the cold white throne.
  15. Trouble is, I need to put it on my forehead so I see it everything I look in the mirror.
  16. I have all but sworn off turkey. I got stuck the day after and I don't think I could have chewed any better or eaten any slower.
  17. I didn't think it was a matter of opinion. I thought there were studies showing the body can only absorb so much in a certain amount if time. (Oh how I wish I kept a log of things I had looked up) "Regarding how much Protein can be digested and absorbed in the intestine at one time, there really is no maximum amount. However, the body will only use what it needs – 0.75 grams per pound of weight for a body builder." http://answers.webmd.com/answers/2018665/how-many-grams-of-protein-can-the-body-digest-and-use-at-a-time
  18. There is a lot of variance on the accuracy of this. Especially on the body building site. They get as worked up over whether this is a true statement as we do over the best type of WLS.
  19. One thing about the band that I haven't seen mentioned. For many of us, it is tighter in the morning. Eating solid food when I first get up is an impossibility.
  20. Great thread, and not just from the content, but also the tone. Been banded almost 11 months now, lost about 60% percent of my excess weight, but that doesn't really tell the picture. I am 6 feet and down from a 46" waist to a 36" now, and I feel great. I did a large amount of research before choosing WLS, and I found that the band had the lowest weight loss result, but also the lowest surgery complication rate. I examined not only the national stats, but also the complication stats of my particular surgeon. Because I was adamantly opposed to WLS for the majority of my life, the band was a giant step for me and I simply couldn't see doing anything more radical. With that said, if the band ever fails me, I would seriously consider revising to the sleeve. As far as the band failure rate be mostly from non-compliance? I can believe that, I have seen people show up on this site that have almost no after care from their surgeon, who routinely ignore their doctors orders from the week of surgery on. Let me be clear though, the band DOES fail, but then again, all the WLS have their risks. At this point in my life and health, the band was the correct decision for me, your mileage may vary (YMMV).
  21. If you have a Costco near you, I have been using their Premier Protein Chocolate shakes for almost a year now and have not grown tired of them. Which protein shake you like will be very individual though, I tasted their vanilla and could barely swallow it.
  22. Just googled it, and darned if you aren't right, RNY patients have a higher incident of alcohol abuse than banders. http://www.webmd.com/diet/weight-loss-surgery/news/20121015/addiction-risk-weight-loss-surgery
  23. Well, since the psychologist was speaking to a group of banders, and was banded herself I have to believe that it wasn't specific to a particular WLS. Besides, she listed several addictive behaviors, including sex addiction, which unless you are doing it wrong, won't be affected by a particular WLS
  24. Interesting, while my surgeon made no mention of alcohol, the psychologist that conducts the monthly group meetings once told us that people who have had WLS are at higher risk of addiction, she specifically mentioned sex and alcohol. It makes sense if you think about it, most of us are addicted to food, WLS interrupts that addiction, but it doesn't deal with the root issues that caused the addictive behavior in the first place. So, many of us simply replace one addiction with another. Or as I have heard many times on this board, the band works on the stomach, not the brain.
  25. I think this may be a correlation/causation type of problem. Do people lose weight better, because they drink wine with their dinner (Causation), or does some other factor in their life (i.e. attitude) that allows them to lose weight easier, also make it more likely that they will drink wine with their meals (Correlation). Personally, I can't stand the taste of wine, and I don't like the carbonation of beer, but I do keep a bottle of vodka in the freezer and I am really fond of scratch margaritas. But you need to be careful, alcohol is extremely high in calories
