  1. Good news....my ekg showed nothing to be worried about, no heart attack or nothing alarming. So appointment on Wednesday with the nurse, and hopefully schedule a surgery date!
  2. Thank you I'm trying not to get to worked up over it. I had a blood test taken the same day as the ekg, and I had to fast for it maybe that had something to do with it. I never had any heart problems, and I pray I don't now. But I can look at it this way, if there is something there, at least we can deal with it now before it turns into something major.
  3. I went for my psych appointment today and was at goal weight!! I was talking to the nurse and she noticed there was an abnormality in my ekg, and my dr is in surgery so I will meet with her on Friday to hopefully set a date. What does an abnormality mean? I know its to make sure my heart is strong enough for surgery, but has this happened to anyone?
  4. Thank you all for your support. My problem has always been keeping the weight off, thats why I really need this tool to help me I'm tired of this yo-yo dieting, and I told my kids this year its about me!
  5. Thank you for your support.
  6. The only people I have told are my children and my best friend who had gastric bypass. And I made my kids know how important it us not to say anything. I wouldn't get support from my family. My mom would go out of her way to try to convince me that I can do it on my own. Not very helpful coming from a tiny woman.
  7. I have to loose 12lbs before surgery and I am so focused and I am not swaying from my diet. My kids had cookies and ice cream last night and I wasn't even tempted to cheat. I want this so bad and I refuse to do anything that will delay it. But why can't I have the will power to do this on my own?! I know that with the band I will still have to work hard to be able to succeed, but I wish I could do it without surgery. Just venting, I still plan on going through with surgery I just want to be able to do it on my own. Does anyone feel the same way?

  9. Hello. Im sort of new here also but I have found that there are some awesome and helpful people here and they will answer any questions you have. I am in the beginning of my journey and they have been very helpful so ask away.
  10. They said because everybody reacts differently, for example some people after surgery can handle small amounts of bread while others can not. So im just mentally preparing myself for that possibility.
  11. In my class today the dietician said you can possibly become lactose intolerant after surgery, everyone is different.
  12. Hello everyone, today I had my orientation class and after, I met with the surgeon. I was told that in order to have surgery I needed to loose 10 percent of my body weight, but I was surprised when he told me only 12 lbs. I definitely don't weigh 120 lol. So hopefully my process wont take too long, I know how to loose, but I can't keep it off. How much weight have you had to loose pre-op?
  13. You all have such wonderful advice. I'm so happy I found this as an app on my phone by chance. The older ones, and by "older" I mean the ones who have had the LB the longest and have achieved success, I look for your imput on things! I am soaking it all in!! I may not post a whole lot but I guarantee each time I leave more informed, and I have more ammunition so to speak, if I need to research things.
  14. Hello everyone! Next week I have my appointment for my official weigh in and I'll get the binder they give you. Anyway my question is for those of you that have had the band and plication, do they actually cut the stomach like the sleeve, I will do more research, but I don't understand why they cut the stomach AND put the band on. Was the recovery harder than if you would have had just the band? Thank you all in advance for the reply.
  15. At the class I took they told us that, maybe they were referring to the sleeve or the bypass. I have an appointment on the 15th and im excited and scared at the same time.
  16. I heard that after the band that I will need to take meds every day for the rest of my life. That I don't mind, but can someone tell me is it a lot of meds, and are you able to swallow them like normal or do you have to crush them up?
  17. Thank you and I will ask the surgeon.
  18. I had my appointment today. I got my blood work done And a mammogram eek, it was my first one. Soon as she gets the results back she will send my referral over. I'm scared and ready to do this all at the same time.
  19. I too am in the beginning stages, I personally want the LB but you have to do your research on all of them the good and the bad, and decide which way is best for you. Good luck at whatever you decide.
  20. Has any one heard from Alcmnch01 I think her name is Aly. Anyway her surgery was 12/14 and I was just wondering how was she doing.
  21. Hello Tara, I am in the beginning stages of getting the LB. If you don't mind keep me posted and I will probably have a million questions to ask you afterwards.
  22. What exactly is the pre surgery diet and can anyone tell me an example of what they had?
  23. How long is the amount of time from when you have your first appointment til the surgery day?
