Anyone else feel guilty about doing this?
Oh, Bredred... I'm so sorry to hear of your family's troubles! Please accept my warmest wishes for your daughter's healing and the best outcome possible for everyone else in your family. Have you talked to a professional about this? There are people who work with people who have similar issues, and who can help you work your way through these perfectly-valid feelings. I don't know how you feel, but I can sure understand how you got there, and hope you'll consider talking this out with a pro. In the meantime, if you're a hugger and would welcome it, you have hugs from me. If you don't want them for whatever reason, please know I'm thinking of you.

21 days out incision issue - Advice needed!
Further update, with thanks to all again: It's visibly smaller and less icky-looking today. The white is turning brown like it's re-scabbing. No heat, no pain, no leakage. Whew!

When Can I Start Yoga Post-Op?
I miss yoga so much and I'm eager to get back to it. I always had to modify the asanas like crazy, but it always felt good. I plan to ask my bariatric nurse at my July appointment, but when did others start back?

21 days out incision issue - Advice needed!
Thanks so much, all! Called the doc office this morning and they said keep it covered and nothing but soapy Water on it, just like Catiebug up there. The incision itself looks smaller this morning, so who knows! It's not hot or painful at all, which makes me feel better about it. I really appreciate all of you!

having trouble accepting compliments :(
An older gentleman I knew said once that when you decline a compliment, you insult the giver's taste and/or intelligence and/or feelings. It helps me accept compliments when I remember that, because I don't want to even take a chance on insulting someone. I don't know if you can believe what he said, but maybe thinking about that might help?

21 days out incision issue - Advice needed!
If it was hot or had red, you bet I'd have been on the phone faster than fast. I think that what happened was some Water got underneath and my body was reacting. If there's any stuff on the bandaid, I'll call tonight - I have their pager number. Thanks for the feedback, both of you!!

I need help!
It depends. I had a lot of scabbing around the GB from years of issues... they managed to keep from having to open me up, but they took their time and worked their way through the scar tissue carefully.

I need help!
My WLS took about 90 minutes. My GB removal took about 120. Deep breaths and hang in there!

21 days out incision issue - Advice needed!
Not for the squeamish! Today one of my scabs came off. I've lost others over the last week and they looked fine. This one looked... eh. NOTE: This wound is NOT hot. The skin around it is not redder than the skin around the pink healing ones. It does not smell bad. It does not look like this issue is deep. It is not painful. However... it looked whitish and seeping instead of like pink clean healing skin. I'm at work, so I went to the first aid cabinet. Grabbed hand sanitizer, alcohol pads, antibacterial pads, antibiotic ointment, and a big sterile bandaid. Sanitized the heck out of my hands, used alcohol pads on it, used the antibacterial pads on it, put the antibacterial ointment on it, and covered it with a bandaid. We have liquid skin in the cabinet as well, but I did NOT use that because if it is infected, I don't want to seal the bacteria in. Anything else I should be doing before I call the doc tomorrow?

SUPER MAJOR NSV!
Great news and a major victory indeed!

10 days post-op--shouldn't I be dropping pounds everyday?
There's no "should" or "shouldn't," first of all. Sometimes the adjustment period where your body is trying to get used to being different happens earlier. And it sounds like you are still dropping, just not as fast as you expected. Expectations are your worst enemy! Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. Keep moving. It WILL happen.

First Goal achieved!
Congratulations! Keep on doing!

June 3 sleeved
I didn't make it by the gym last Friday - too busy at work! - but I think my stall is broken. I'm down to 243.5 according to the scale this morning. I'm going to conservatively say I definitely weigh 245, which means my first goal has been achieved! Also, I'm back in size 24s!

Things To Do In The Week-3 Stall
...Other Than Obsessively Weigh Yourself! Meditate Exercise Learn a new craft Practice an old craft Walk a dog Volunteer with a charity Plant little seed kits Organize your sock drawer Make fun of bad movies Write thank-you notes to all your friends/support team Listen to audiobooks Take an online free course somewhere like Coursera Dust shelves Reorganize your library Sing (even if you do it badly) Dye your hair Get a mani/pedi (regardless of your gender) Write 500 words a day Read a Great Book you've always meant to read Read a totally trashy book you'd NEVER admit you read Put all your CDs and DVDs into folders and recycle the cases Start a blog Watch a TV show you'd never considered watching Make your holiday list ANYTHING other than the scale! (Suggestions welcome! )

Now I am freaking the f-ck out
The lady you work with isn't the expert. Your docs are. They want you to succeed and their process is set for a reason. Trust the doc's office over Office Lady.

June 3 sleeved
I hit the week 3 stall at 248.5, so not going to weigh myself this week. You are all dropping faster than I am, and I am cheering you on! Keep inspiring me! I got on the exercycle today and did 30 minutes. I had forgotten that bikes work different muscles than walking! Oops... I'm sore, but not I-Screwed-Something-Up painful. How are your incisions and bruises? My scabs are starting to itch and come off, but boy do I still have some amazing bruising on my belly. I am on my first full week back at work, but feeling really good. I have energy and my skin has color. I have an appointment with my work's trainer to get my measurements taken on Friday. These were my measurements on 9-MAY: 9-MAY Weight: 278 Abdomen: 48.5 Waist: 52 Arm: 17.5 Hip: 55.5 Mid-Thigh: 27 Wonder what they'll be in Friday!

Not Craving Food, but Dreaming About It?
OK, this is weird. I'm on week 3... it's next Monday I can start purees. (And FWIW, I'm at the three-week stall, so I'm not weighing myself this week at all.) I am not craving food at all during my waking hours. I've been out for pizza with friends (I had milk), to coffeeshops (milk and herbal tea), watched my family eat Chinese... honestly, cream of chicken Soup tastes about my speed. I wasn't tempted by the pizza or the muffins or whatever. I wasn't hungry for them at all. But I'm dreaming about solid food! I keep dreaming that even though I'm in the liquid phase even in my dream, I eat something and then have to decide what to do about it. Did this happen to anyone else?

TOTAL DISBELIEF
