  1. Carnie Phillips had band over by pass... She is the featured speaker at the weight loss convention in Las Vegas this weekend... I hope the media leaves Gov. Christie alone so he can do this in peace.. They are already speculating about his reasons... Whatever his reasons I commend his decision.
  2. I was happy to be able to wrap a towel around myself... happy for your 50 lbs loss... great job.
  3. I do believe Mr. Christie can handle the press... he will do great...
  4. I am anxious to see how he does... It's validating to know he chose the band instead of bypass or sleeve. I hope he's able to get support and is totally successful. He is still young enough to change his future health... I believe he is sincere about losing it for his family and not his career. He will continue to do well politically either way.
  5. when I had my surgery they prescribed loritab or hydrocordone.. it made me deathly sick... once I stopped taking that I was fine.. I took liquid tylenol when I needed it...good luck and I hope you start feeling better....
  6. never been a tatoo fan for myself however if that is what folks want to do to signify their success it's all good.. I'm afraid if I got a butterfly it would turn into a vulture at my age... lol
  7. very nice... the face is usually the first to change.. I lost my chubby cheeks and at least one chin so far.. keep up the good work....
  8. fantastic job... throw those old big clothes out.. you will not need them anymore.. I donated a bunch of my bigger clothes to hospice.. they do a wonderful job of taking care of terminally ill patients.. They provided care for our daughter who passed away from melanoma.. they will sell those clothes and use the funds for their programs...
  9. the cookie dough quest is awesome... however my GNC ran out... I have to make another trip this week to stock up... the muscle milk bars are good too...
  10. when I went on Mushie stage refried beans saved my life.. a little dollop of sour cream on top made a full meal for me.. I still like them . I haven't made them from scratch before I just buy them in the can but I am sure yours are way better...
  11. that is great... I know the first time that happened to me I was so happy.. I remember going to the spa with my daughter (birthday present) the robes they give you are not for obese people.. so, I was embarrassed because the robe would not close.. bet this year I will be rocking that robe... lol
  12. awesome... love to see how much people change... it keeps me motivated...
  13. It will get better.... you have to get up and move ..about once an hour get up and walk around your house... also it helps to use a pillow or something to support your stomach when you get up.. take your pain meds... the gas will go away but it takes time.. I know I felt the same way about it but trust me you will be so happy when you see the results.. sip liquids often.. you do not want to get dehydrated. focus on yourself healing.. it will take about a week to get semi-normal. Good Luck
  14. drink, walk , heating pad and take your pain meds... also make sure in a few days if you haven't had a bm take a laxative, milk of mag worked for me.. otherwise get plenty of rest , don't worry about anything else but healing.. it does get better just takes time...
  15. oh wow there is a big difference... it's amazing what a difference it makes... your waist and hips have shrunk....keep on going.
  16. I have friends in Greenville and have been there a few times.. nice little town.. I am originally from Ky. but Covington which is across the river from Cincinnati... @Donna, congratulations on your achievement... I love reading about how everyone is doing.
  17. The Lord will be with you and we are all here to help you... You will do great.
  18. I had a battery of tests.. EKG, bloodwork, chest xray, upper gi, and pulmonary function... but never heard of a EGD? Everyone gets nervous , just remember you are doing something for your health and take it one day at a time... once I decided to get the band , I was ready ... the night before my surgery I did take a sleeping aid so I wouldn't be stressed and tired... it helped.. Good Luck ...
  19. You should still be in the healing phase ... however you won't feel "full"... just satisfied.. sounds like your head is telling you to continue eating cause you're not stuffed... hopefully when you get a fill it will help... also make sure you eat a lot of protein.. that is what makes you feel satisfied.. the band will not stop you from eating...good luck.
  20. my Medicare has paid so far.. I also have a supplement BC/BS so I haven't had to pay anything out of pocket.. I have had one fill since surgery on Jan 15... but to be sure I would check with your financial manager or insurance specialists at your surgeons office.. They usually know all of the rules for Medicare.. don't know how it will work after Obamacare gets started though.
  21. I have never seen ads like that on this site... perhaps they are popping up on your computer due to the type of searches you have made... Regardless, lapbandtalk cannot control everything that might tempt us.. TV ads are way more full of food ads .. but we can't stop watching TV or living because we have a eating problem.. Our society is surrounded by food and things pertaining to food.. We also have the most lucrative diet industry in the world.. it's our responsibility to act on our impulses or not...
  22. one step at a time, you have your blood sugar under control, now focus on what the goal is.. being scared is natural...it is alot to think about, but you can do this. I was anticipating something horrible but it wasn't nearly as bad as I had thought.. the first days will be trying but if you do what your Dr. tells you, especially drinking and moving you should do great... we will all be keeping you in our prayers..
  23. beautfiul smile and face... keep up the good work... you look like you feel wonderful...
  24. that is good... I will be praying that it is that or lower tomorrow... I hope you get a surgery date soon and can get your weight down and your blood sugar down as well... Take Care..
  25. My nutritionist said to eat dark meat chicken due to the moistness .. I have eaten some chicken breast but I use broth to make it moist...
