This is one of my biggest fears. That I will still have my enormous appetite and be hungry. I've heard of people who have said they still deal with the intense hunger after surgery. My surgeon says my appetite will be gone, but is that really the truth?

I am getting sleeved January 9 at 8am. Yikes!!!! Anyone else???

I had my pre-op class today and it definitely made me feel a little out of place. My BMI is 37, so I am overweight, but the other people in the class were REALLY overweight. I know I am making the right decision for myself but definitely had my first set of "am I really doing the right thing?" feelings. Anyone else have the same experience? I almost feel kind of silly for having the surgery.

My surgery is officially scheduled for January 9th!!! My surgeon said to not eat like it's my last meal leading up to surgery. Struggling with that!!! Anyone else's experience with this? Did you eat what you wanted, and either regretted it or happy you did it??? Thank you!!!

Do the staples they use to close your stomach dissolve over time or are they there forever?

Where can I find some documentation stating this has been performed for 20 years in Australia? I can't find anything saying such a thing.

I am completely confident in my decision to have this surgery, EXCEPT the unknown of the long term effects. Mostly concerned about the loss in the Ghrelin hormone. And yes i know other parts of the body release this hormone, but i imagine a LOT of it will be gone with this surgery. Can anyone calm my mind about this?

I am self pay so I'm wondering if this is possible. I had a physical this past summer and had blood work done and also had an EKG that was totally normal. I'm curious if my surgeon would accept these as some of my pre op recommendations? My surgeon consult is scheduled for December 14! YAY!

I am in the process of coming up with a list of questions to ask my surgeon at my consultation. You have all been so helpful and wonderful in answering my questions. THANK YOU!!! Would any of you mind sharing the questions you had for your surgeon? It may be something I want to add to my list and haven't considered it yet. :)

Well I live just down the road so I wonder how long he will keep me! Did it take you long to schedule your surgery (as in, did he have a long waiting list? I completed the online seminar today and the health questionnaire, so now I guess I am waiting for them to call me back! I hope to do it in January.

I am reading my Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies book, and it just mentioned a catheter. I am terrified of this as I have never had one before. Did you have one? Please explain your experience, I am freaking out a little.

Did anyone have their surgery performed by Dr Hugh Houston at Centennial? I would like to hear your experiences with him and how everything went for you.

Right now my biggest concern is what if I have complications after surgery and need to be hospitalized or reoperated on. My insurance will not cover complications from weight loss surgery. Is there anything to be done about this? Should I just close my eyes, have the surgery, hope there are no complications and I don't go bankrupt from it?

I am starting to really think the sleeve may be the best option for me instead of the lap band. Still researching like crazy of course. But I would really like to know how long you were out of work to recover? I don't have MANY personal days, so a big factor in me choosing this surgery is if I would be able to go back to a desk job after a week? If I had it done on a Friday, take the next week off and return to work on that next Monday, does that sound possible in your experience? Realistically how long should I expect to be out of work with the sleeve? I have a desk job at a bank. Is recovery worse than lap band?

A big thing that scares me about the sleeve is that all the websites say they don't know what the long term effects are. What if you get stomach cancer? Are you just a goner?? I think the unknown long term effects is what scares me most.

Hi everyone. I am 5'2" and nearly 200 pounds. Initially I thought I would get the lap band but then started reading about the sleeve. Removing most of your stomach is terrifying, but with the band I will be going for fills and adjustments forever it seems. Is there anyone who can give me an opinion about which might be best for me? Are there more risks with the sleeve? Is the recovery longer? Is the weight loss not as much? I would appreciate any feedback.
