  1. Your welcome for the read. I'm sorry dee257 for your loss. I hope you and your family are doing ok! The story definitely makes you want to be in more photo's for your family. For me it's actually making sure I do it. We actually had family photo's taken a few weeks back which I wasn't overly happy about. I thought if I had 6 months longer I will or hopefully will have the lap band and will look better in the photo's. After reading the story it makes me think well I'm glad that I had them done when I did as i have said what if or i'm going to all my life. I'm not exactly happy with all the photo's but I now think back to the story and i'm ok with it as I'm making memories for my family.
  2. Good Luck!! Best wishes for your new journey ahead... Hopefully I will be joining the same journey too.
  3. I loved this... Someone sent me the email because I don't like my photo being taken! I'm happy they forwarded it onto me. For the last 5 years or so I've put a lot of weight on and for that reason I hate the way that I look. I don't like people taking my photo. I have 2 gorgeous kids and there is only a coupe of photo's of me with them. After reading this I have a few more photo's now. I'm considering lap band surgery and have an appt to see a surgeon in 2 weeks. Fingers crossed my surgeon approves me and I can make up for all the photo's I should have taken. It's definitely worth a read. http://www.ivillage.com.au/the-mum-stays-in-the-picture/154242

  5. Good Lucky guys.. Hope everything goes well for both of you.
  6. Great to hear thanks... I've made an appt to see Professor O'brien. When you say you can walk into his office are you saying that it's easy to get an appt with him? I think Professor O'brien is fairly popular hmmm.. Lol maybe it will be hard to get follow up apps.
  7. Brisbane, lovely place. 7 years. Nice.. Are you happy with it? Have you lost a lot of weight?
  8. Thanks! I will check it out. : ) I'm in Melbourne, Victoria. I'm looking at The Centre for Bariatric Surgery. In Melbourne!!
  9. Hi, I'm from Australia and I'm interested in hearing from people who are from Australia as to where they are having Lap Band or how it's going who have had it? I have an appt with a surgeon in 4 weeks time to have a chat about having it done.
  10. Thanks for sharing your story!! I'm sorry to hear about your relationship!! Life does throw us some curve balls that just really aren't fair. That's what makes us stronger. Hope this doesn't come across the wrong way.. But maybe he has done you a favor. It's allowed you to step back and look at your life and now you are making the steps towards a happier and healthier life for you and you can start putting you first. I mean this in the nicest possible way. I'm just considering lap band surgery now. I have my appt in 2 weeks to see a surgeon and hopefully I can have it done and feel better in myself too. I have 2 gorgeous little kids and I want to be a healthier mum. I want to look and feel soo much better. I would like to lose 40 kgs (88lbs) my embarrassment is that I hate my photo being taken because i feel so fat when i see the photo's. So there are very little of me with my kids and that breaks my heart. Some may think its silly. I wish you all the best for your journey and hopefully I will have an inspiring story like yours! Thanks.
  11. I've just tried again but I don't seem to have an edit button. I'm using an iPad I'm wondering if that's why? I'll keep trying. I wouldn't normally find it hard to do. I've also has c-sections. I've had 2. I was sort of thinking that the recovery process and pain might be simula to that. I have had key hole too when I had my gall bladder removed so I guess I'm pretty up there when it comes to surgery. Lol. I feel like this is a huge decision.. But I want a more healthy lifestyle so much. I don't have a good weight record history in my family so I'm hoping this is the way to go for me. I think I'm scared that it won't work. I'm happy to put in the hard work but in the past nothing has worked for me. I'm not telling any friends or family as I know they will try and talk me out of it. I told my sister about 8 months ago that I was thinking about it and a couple of others and they don't think I need it. My mbi is 38 so clearly I fit the criteria. I just want to be happy with my apperance.. Thanks for chatting with me.
  12. Thats great to know.. I've been thinking about it for a while and have just made my appt to see the surgeon. I've struggled all my life. I want to loose about 40 kgs which is about 88 pounds. I've noticed a few people saying they are on a shakes diet b4 the surgery. Do you do that b4 hand? I have 2 small children how was your recovery? Silly question.. Lol I'm new on here. How do I load a profile picture?
  13. Thanks for your reply! I've just started to take the steps to making it happen.. Or hopefully making it happen. Wow! Fantastic job. I'm in Australia. So I had to convert to kilo's that's 71.8 kgs that is amazing. Has the lifestyle change taken its toll on you yet? Like on a scale to 1-10 was it really mentally and physically hard for you? Well done!
