  3. I am getting band on the 8th of Nov. I actually asked my dr. this question. I usually end up with bronchits at least 2x a year and I cough so hard. I was afraid it would cause problems (slippage). He told me no. HOpe he is right! Let me know if you find out anymore about coughing..
  4. having surgery on Nov 8 and looking for someone to buddy or to mentor me.
  5. I can use a mentor too! I am in CT and will be banded on 11/8 really excited and nervous and scared.
  6. Thank you all for your support. I just got back from my pre op stuff at the hospital all that is left is my physical with my primary doctor and I am good to go next Thursday.
  7. what type of pre diet have you done?
  8. I have cleared all the hurdles, going for pre op stuff tomorrow and surgery is scheduled for Nov 8. REally excited. My doctor just told us to follow a diet that worked for you, nothing special. I am nervous and so excited.....
  9. I hear you, I am having surgery on the 8th, and until my date was set the only people that knew were my husband and my boss (we are very close-2 person office). Since I have my date, I have told my daughter (grown) and my parents. I dont' want to hear the stories, good and bad and don't need to hear other people's opionions. This is a private decision. Don't feel guilty about your decision.
  10. It is strange, my doctor Kurt Roberts, doesn't do the 2 wk liquid diet prior to surgery, so I am plugging along here just waiting for my day. I was suppose to get my bloodwork done today, but the impending Hurricane cancelled my appt. I was actually thinking about doing the liquid diet the last few days before my date. Good luck with your surgery.
  11. I got my approval on Wednesday, my date is Nov 8
  12. My date is set for Nov 8 and i am very excited and nervous too!. I am 55 years old and am about 80 lbs overweight. I have been ovefweight since my teens. Every once in a while I would lose weight but overtime I gain it back. How do you deal with spouse that are not happy you are going for surgery. He is afraid something might happen and I just told my parents about it and I dont thing they are too happy either. But I am excited and know this isn't a easy road but one I am looking to conquer B
  13. the band was too small and nothing was going down at all. HIs doc went on vacation and he went 5 days like this before they saw him and decided they had to replace his band with a bigger one. During the second surgery, he had a liver complication and was very sick. He is now home and trying to regain his strength
  14. Hi folks, well I have done all the preliminary visits and will finally meet iwth the doctor. It i a 3 hr appt that I have been told will end with my date being set. The process was a little backwards as I have not even had a consultation with the doctor, I had to see the psychairist and nutrionist before I could get to see the doctor. I am nervous, but so excited. It has taken me a long time to get to this point in my life where I am ready to do it. My husband, although very supportive, is not thrilled about me having surgery and a friends husband just (within the last 2 wks) had surgery and had many complications including 2 days in ICU, so that has really made him not happy. but enough about what is flying through my head, any suggestions on questions I should ask? Thanks for listening and being here Bonnie
