Hooray! Support For A 32 Bmi!

I wish I could say I'm doing great, but my weight has been all over the place. This head hunger thing is killing me. I've now had 3 fills- up to 6cc's and the dr said I should be getting close to the green zone. My portions definitely reflect that, but it's the little things like walking past a candy bowl or grabbing a piece of fudge at Christmas. And again- alcohol. What a failure- ugh!! New Year- new weight loss resolution. Keeping a food diary like I've done before in prior diets. It was the only way I was able to lose before- diary/calorie counting. But now that I have this, I think ill do much better. And the holidays have passed- thank god- no more fudge or eggnog or brandy alexanders. Lets do this.

Hooray! Support For A 32 Bmi!

I was banded on 10/26 and had my first fill today- up to 3.6cc's. Thanksgiving got me though, and I went up from my 2 wk weigh in (4 lbs.) My dr. was not thrilled. I've found my biggest calorie ruiner is alcohol- and i didn't help that I was at the in-laws for t-giving. Is anyone else having this problem? The fill didn't hurt as bad as I thought it was going to, but I made the mistake of looking at the needle beforehand. That sucker was huge!

    October Bandsters?

Have you tried charcoal pills? My clinic recommended those and they worked great! I had also been making my protein shakes with milk- which I normally wouldn't have a problem with. Since I've been banded (10/26) dairy has caused the worst gas pains of my life. This week, no dairy, happy me. Could just be the stomach swelling going down but I'm not taking my chances. Silk is my new best friend.

Hooray! Support For A 32 Bmi!

The surgery went pretty good- I ended up having the haital hernia, which saved me $4400 on my out of pocket expensives (YAY!!) I kept reading all the warnings on the gas after surgery and holy cow, they were so right. I feel and look like I have a volleyball inside of my stomach because it's so full of gas. Can you OD on Gas X? haha I was sick of the rollercoaster- very glad I did this. I'm on liquids this first week after surgery, then mush for 2 wks. I'm having a hard time even getting 2 protein shakes down per day though- they make me VERY full. I had a thing of yogurt for dinner last night and was stuffed. I hear thats what the 'green zone' is like, and if that's true, I CAN'T WAIT. I tend to get the munchies at night time, and I have had zero problems with that this week. I'm so excited for us

Hooray! Support For A 32 Bmi!

Just curious how you all have done since u posted. It's been a while and I'm starting now (10/26 banded) where u all were back in June. I'm a 32 bmi and opted for this for all the same reasons you've listed. Any points of encouragement?

Am I Crazy To Get Banded?? Only 25-30 Lbs To Lose.

I was just banded 10/26- and since I was "only a 32 bmi" I went back and forth trying to talk myself into it and out of it. What finally made me decide to go for it is lookin at all the skinny b*****s getting their nose jobs and their boobs done- if they're gonna spend twice what I'm payin for something like that, then I damn sure can afford the cost of this and avoid a lifetime of stress and worry over my weight. I went up and down dramatically about 10 times. I feel so fortunate that I was able to do this and now (hopefully) will never have to worry about that again. I'm ready to actually live my life without the constant shame and thoughts of food and self loathing. It's exciting. I dunno- just kinda writing what I'm thinking here- so might sound a little shallow. Totally worth it to me!

    October Bandsters?

Had my surgery today- started at 2:45, was in the car on my way home by 5. I'm not in a lot of pain but I was a little surprised by having 5 incisions. I really thought it was only going to be 3. I hope these heal ok. Ugh

I Am On My 1St Day Of Pre-Op Diet!

It looks like I lucked out- my dr. has me on the Atkins diet (which I've done a few times), so it's been pretty easy. My mind is playing tricks on me and telling me I'm starving tho- gotta work on the mind control. Most if the time it's just thirst disguised as hunger anyways right? 4lbs down in 3 days eating bacon and pork rinds- something isn't right about that but I'll take it! Surgery on 10/26- soooo nervous!!

    Scared

I have my surgery on 10/26 and am very scared as well. My process has gone very fast because it's all out of pocket, so I just found out a week ago that my surgery was scheduled so soon. I just keep hearing stories about how it doesn't work for some people and maybe it's just all the past diet failures, but I can't help but worry that I'll be one of the people it doesn't work for. My pre-op diet is the Adkins diet, which is kinda nice- no protein shakes- yay! I also will only have a week of liquids after, so even then, the protein shakes won't last long. The only thing that keeps me going is- in the past, when i gave into the urges to stop a diet, or overeat or the endless amount of sabotage that I've done to myself- it's been easy. I think that this tool we're getting will prevent/force us to keep up with the diets and light eating- we can't escape it. It WILL work this time. Good luck to us
