  1. My first week after surgery, I wanted to die. Literally. And no, I don't have any pre-existing mental conditions. My 1st week of recovery was hell. I hurt. I was nauseated & dry heaving, and forget eating/drinking. It gets better. Ignore the ones who don't support you (yes, even if your parents are your biggest issue right now) & do whatever you can to stay on target. Don't feel pressured to tell anyone if you don't want to, bc by the time you go back to the real social world (school, work, etc), you'll feel great anyway. Sending out good vibes your way...
  2. Heya! Thanks! PPI is proton pump inhibitor. Aka fire-belly extinguisher! mine is prilosec & my surgeon gave me a script for a granulated version that I dissolve in Water every day. It's only been 2 days but what an amazing difference.
  3. The prilosec is amazing. Period. The last 2 days have been a godsend. My gut started bothering me last night around 8, but tonight I'm still going strong. My only concern is how many calories I'm supposed to be getting. I think the extra calories/protein have really helped the last bit of healing. I can't wait to eat lots of stuff!! I know you've been waiting forever... I'm glad you're feeling better. & kick boxing! How fun!!
  4. I'm actually down 20# since surgery - INCLUDING the water weight. I asked my surgeon about the smell & he said it's due to the wet wound in my gut about a foot below my mouth. I can accept that answer. I also see how it could be ketosis, bc days when I get more protein it's a lot worse.
  5. I was just curious what everyone else had/has as a caloric limit for the full liquids stage? I had to stay on clears 5 extra days due to post-op complications, but now I'm finally able to swallow fluids & it seems like I'm eating too much. On clears I was lucky to hit 150 calories/day. I'm now getting 350-450 calories/day. My surgeon/NUT don't list limits except for the pre-op diet. Just curious. Thanks!
  6. OMIGOSH...It's been hell. Lol I had a reaction to the anesthesia & have been groggy since surgery, but they didn't offer that as an option to why I felt so craggy. I had so much Fluid that I could barely move. Luckily that's all gone now, plus 4#. I barely can get anything down, not bc of physical limitations, but mental. Bc every tiny sip causes a 25 minute belching fest, started by a tremor in my chest that I assume is similar to how the neck of a freshly popped champagne bottle must feel... but none of that bothered me too much before today bc honestly I was so ...idk...dehydrated? Malnourished? Drugged? I was varying shades of pale to yellow... I couldn't take the lortab they gave me for pain, which is probably ok since it just put me in a 6 hour coma. Lol today I finally feel lucid. & my surgeon gave me a sublingual ppi. & I finally got more than 3g Protein in. the bubbles are still there, but I think once I get my ppi I'll feel better there. They had to order it. I should have it by tomorrow afternoon. It's been a wild mental ride of a week...I'm not sure this was such a good idea. But I reserve the right to change my mind. How have you been??
  7. My sister yelled at me last night about not trying shakes. threatened to come up here (75 min drive) & then got a hold of my mister & instead got him on me. Lol I still haven't tried shakes, but I did try sugar free non-fat chocolate milk (8g protein) this morning & it seemed to make a difference. I can't imagine taking care of 5 little ones & myself during all this. How old are they? mine are 13 & almost 15...they don't want to need me for anything anymore. Haha
  8. Thanks. I basically got the "you eat something on this list or I'm taking you to the ER...what can I make you?" talk last night. I tried some Soup. It helped a little with the energy issue. Today's been a bit better.
  9. Thanks. That's what everyone keeps saying. I hope they're right. I've been home since Friday & absolutely miserable. Just so pale, weak & exhausted. I haven't dared try anything on my stage 2 foods. I'm stuck with Water & popsicles. :/ I can't even imagine a Protein shake at this point....
  10. Let's hope. I feel like hammered garbage today. I made Easter dinner & was fine until I tried to lift the ham. Now I'm nauseated, cold chills, exhausted, thought I was going to vomit. My mouth tastes like rotten fruit smells & has since the hospital. It doesn't matter how many times a day I brush/floss/swish. If that would go away I probably wouldn't be so nauseated.
  11. My surgeon's team uses the terms sleeve & pouch all the time to mean the same thing. Don't apologize. Some people just have to be "right" all the time. Glad you're a little more at ease.
  12. Lol I'm 3 days out now, but still haven't dropped it. I'm sure it will go away...I've only been consuming about 75 cal/day. & that's a chore to get in. I went in with a flat belly (well, flatter than I've had in abt 2 years lol) & came out like I was 8 months pregnant.
