  1. Isn't it strange how it still hurts, no matter how we try to soothe ourselves, when someone is cruel or rude. I can't understand how it makes them feel better, but it must because some people are rude all the time. Sorry you encountered one of these very rude people. I hope her nasty comments are softened by the ones you hear from those who care about you and understand you. You have every right to take care of yourself in whatever way works for you. You are a strong and courageous individual to face your medical problem and deal with it.
  2. Well, after dancing on Saturday, my only exercise was stacking firewood and cleaning house. That will do for the weekend. Now to get going with some REAL exercise. I bagged up the candy and am calling my son to come take it away. I suppose I should give him some good food, too!
  3. No loss here. No gain either. That's fine by me! I ate a bunch of candy last night. YUCK!!! Now I really will have to work at it!
  4. That is fanatastic! I bet you are the only one losing this week, besides the ghoulies who are still on liquids!
  5. Three protein drinks at 20 grams of protein each should do the trick. Still, I had trouble getting it in, too. Do your best, we all survive it.
  6. My exercise yesterday -- dancing! My husband is happy that I will at least consider dancing again. Had a fun time at 2 parties, one a dance, one not. I didn't do too bad with the eating, although I don't expect a loss this week. One more day for this candy-laden holiday!
  7. No one-pounder. I'd be very sick if I ate one, too. Nope, I got a bottle of wine and some vodka liqueur in a very pretty blue bottle for the birthday girl. I want to try the blue vodka stuff. (Here's your birthday present, can I have some! ) But I already got into the "stash" and ate a tootsie roll. Liquids aren't included, right?!
  8. That sounds like a good dinner, Lisa. I was never able to eat very spicy food, but now it is even more limited. I feel like my throat resists receiving anything too spicy. Too bad it doesn't resist sweets!
  9. Do your best while she's here -- then hit it hard after she leaves. Maybe this will be the boost into the final push. Hope it all goes well no matter how you decide to deal with it.
  10. Well, I made it through one day. Had my Chai tea and some peanuts, but I don't count the nuts as a treat. Today we got a little more candy for the trick-or-treaters -- but told DH to get something I don't like. Hidden in the bag were Jr. mints and tootsie rolls. Hmmm.... So far I've resisted, although I stashed a few away for "us". We have 2 parties tonight. A charity dance with my parents, that should be safe, and a birthday party with a saloon theme, not so safe. Told DH that I was going to get smashed, so that would be my treat. Probably take about half a small drink to do the trick. Good luck to us all on the challenge.

It looks a whole lot different going by when you're heading down than the way it did when you're heading up. I didn't like the weight I'm at on the way up, but it sure feels good on the way down.
  12. I'd follow the sheet and not worry about it. (Well, I'd worry, but that's just me ) The one thing I am glad my doctor required -- even though I complain about it all the time -- is to stick to half a cup and no more. This doesn't work for everyone, but it sure was a good thing for me. Of course, that's all my pouch will hold, so that probably makes a big difference. Do your best and don't rush things too much. You are still healing.
  13. OH! You're not gonna tell them, are ya!? :guess
  14. Hey, how about one of those one pound candy bars. :laugh
  15. My docs are skinny guys who don't eat carbs, don't drink.... Geez...
  16. Thanks Marie. I think it is luck...a combination of a metabolism that is still intact (I was not much of a dieter) and immediate restriction -- oh and that itty, bitty pouch. I am starting to stall now, though. I'm eating more carbs. I'm hungrier at night -- and give in a lot. Part of it may be that I stayed between 175 and 190 (most of the time) for a long time -- about 15 years. I'm actually going have to start working harder! It's about time!
  17. DeLarla How do you think my doctor criticizes me for these things!? I EAT them! I absolutely believe in the "eat a little so you don't feel deprived" plan. I tell my doctors that once in a while, but not too often because they don't approve and then they don't listen to my REAL problems. And how could I be mad at you?! I wouldn't even be mad if I didn't agree, but I do. So...back to my thinking about what little treat I will eat tonight... Is this called obsessing?
  18. Cheetos are messy. Nasty Cheetos. Mmmm... The halloween candy is in its little goodie bags. I just got an order of sugarfree Chai tea and found it still has many many carbs -- 27 or something. That's more than my cocoa. Sigh... I should give it away. Maybe it could be a once a week treat. (Yeah, right!) Must think what my ONE thing will be tonight, when I am a raving maniac eating machine. Thank goodness for my little bitty pouch.
  19. My doctors are so strict with the diet that they have criticized the following things I ate: cream soup bite of a banana! refried Beans cocoa anything with sugar They are especially worried about carbs. Then fat. I try to stay moderate. Hmmm....where did that little venting come from? Emotional issues on the loose!!
  20. I went in there early and then late. Guess when people were there? Late. Party animals!
  21. Okay. That's better than cold-turkey for me. One per day. I'm on it. I got little goodie bags for the neighborhood kids for Halloween so I can bag up everything and not having loose candy sitting around. I'll pack it all up today.
  22. Glad you called your doctor. Hope all is okay.
  23. Hope you get just the right fill and only one poke.
  24. You look great! Thanks for sharing.
