  1. Congrats, keep up the great work. I had my 2 wk post op apt today and lost 25lbs in total so far. So motivated.
  2. I am on day 11 as well, and this pain started about day 8. does it hurt when you take deep breaths? It hurts me when I do. I am wondering if i am just over doing it with walking or what.
  3. Was banded 10 days ago and was doing amazingly well. Not much pain at all and no nausea woohoo! I mean I had gas pain but in the lower left part of the stomach. I've been walking quite a lot but in the past 2 days I have a lot of pain where the port is located. When I take deep breaths or yawn it hurts. Did I overdo it? (have to admit I walked more than 2hrs yesterday slowly but still) Anyone have that sort of pain or still do? Also as per doc's orders I started eating scrambled eggs this morning.....well I realized that I really have to think when I eat now. I got my first stuck. Holy moly! Couldn't even talk. I was a fast eater and never really chewed (mmmm maybe the reason I got to where I required banded....ya think!? lol). Lesson learned.
  4. I am 6 days post surgery now, and honestly I am having trouble drinking or even starting my mushies as directed by my doc. I take a sip of water and feel bloated. I walk a lot, actually am very mobile. I don't get it. Yesterday I felt so bad only water would go in (and not that much). I have no other pain whatsoever, but this bloating is getting concerned. Will I ever be able to eat something?? lol I still have energy, but don't know how long that will last without food or protein. anyone else have that problem?
  5. I have not pre existing clothing issues, but I am on Lovenox shots for the 2 weeks following my procedure. I never had an embolism or any serious issues of the sort. I think as a precaution my surgeon prescribes it to all his patients. I just dislike giving myself shots. the worse.
  6. my doc said 3cc. As I had never read about this being done before, I was a little concerned. thanks to all for you responses. I am really dozing off and on right now.
  7. Today is the day of the beginning of my new life. I was banded today and in all honesty apart from the pain in the port area and just below, which I am thinking is gas, I am not in pain. I have been walking around a bit while I am up, no problem there and drinking/sipping my h20. I have a question though, my surgeon told me that he already filled me. HUH? Since I was half out of it when he told me I wanted to question him about it, but then he was gone. Asked the nurse and she did confirm with me that they had filled me. Has anyone heard of this before or had it happen to them? I am to be on full liquid for the next 2 weeks.
  8. keep in touch, let me know how you are holding up!
  9. OH my, just got the call. I am having my surgery tomorrow morning 10am. Sick of pre-op shakes, but my clothes are now loose on me, so that's a great perk. So excited, but not looking forward to the pain. good luck to all having theirs in day/weeks to come!
  10. Hi, welcome to the group! I am from Montreal as well. Not many support groups in the city or province, so this is why I turned to this group. My operation date is on Thursday the 18th. I am single and well, not dating at the moment. I think over the years the scars fade, but let me tell you I have pregnancy scars, so to me it's not a concern. One more, one less. I guess I will only be able to tell you in time. Would be nice to discuss this with you if you want, just PM me. take care Donna
  11. Congrats to you! I just have a weird feeling that if i take them off they won't fit anymore. lol!
  12. Well, if this can be a bit of a motivator, after 8 days of pre-op liquid only diet, I fit into a pair of jeans I have not worn since 2007. I can't tell you how much I lost since i don't own a scale, and still on the fence about getting one, but wow! super impressed with my will power. Keep it up guys!! this is bringing us closer to our dreams.
  13. each surgeon requires their specific diet. mine is strictly shakes for 2 weeks and a cup of raw or steamed veggies. that's it. It's been hard the first 5 days, now I am on day 7, I have a lot more energy, started my 2 mile walks again. You get used to it. Just make sure you follow your doctor's instructions. i also bought some unflavored protein powder at the drug store called Beneprotein (don't know if they have it in the US) suggested that for my post-op diet. (mix it in broth, jello, smoothies etc)
  14. Amazing, keep up the great work ....!! You are an inspiration to all that have begun or will begin this journey!
  15. I'm on day 6 and now I want to throw up every time I smell it. Now they only had vanilla flavor....Yeah, not so good at all. 7 more days to go....
  16. I lived on diet pepsi and coffee, I stopped cold turkey from the first day I started the pre op. Maybe the caffeine withdrawal is what is giving me the headaches, but it's been pretty good so far. This is so not an easy journey.
  17. I am taking in a lot of water, maybe more than I should. Trying to curb my hunger. I'm always in the washroom. lol!
  18. I started my pre-op last Friday, only weighed myself once on Monday and had lost 4 pounds. The shakes don't keep me full more than 3 hours, especially at work, so trying to stretch it out as much as possible. On optifast there are only 2 flavors that my doctor offers, vanilla or chocolate. Had both, not bad. Not the greatest but not bad. I have suffered from headaches every single night though, so hopefully that will subside soon. Good luck on your journey!
  19. Day 4 of liquid diet. I had a migraine for 2 days, but feeling much better now. I try to stretch my 4 shakes as much as possible. 11 days left, taking it one day at a time. i don't have a scale, is that bad? don't know how much I lost but feel a lot less bloated and a friend of my daughter's today said she noticed I lost a bit of weight, and she doesn't know I am doing this. So that is so motivating.
  20. Optifast is the ones my doctor advised me to take. Yesterday, day 2, was the worse. I had such a migraine. Slept for 12 hours. Hope this won't be the norm for the next couple of weeks. I diluted the shakes a bit more as they were gritty and texture not so good. They are going down a bit better, but still hungry. (which i am sure is normal for all). Just keeping at it, worth it in the end.
  21. Started the liquid today, wanted to throw up. I am not liking the shakes at all. worse part this is all I am on and a cup of veggies. Gotta pull through! 2 weeks to go!
  22. My op is 10/18/2012 one day after you. I will be starting my pre-op diet on Thursday. Each doc seem to be different, my pre-op is basically 4 shakes a day and 1 cup of veggies. This is what stressed me out the most, but like you I am so excited to start this new journey. I know it won't be easy, but I think that finding this site has inspired and helped me feel less alone. (no support groups in my area, so turning to this site and reading and educating myself helps) Keep me posted on your journey so far, and I will with mine if you are interested. Donna
  23. I told everyone that is close to me but was skeptical about one specific good friend. At first I did not want to tell her what kind of surgery I was going for (oct 18th). So as we were leaving for our vacation a couple of weeks back and sitting on the plane, she asked me what I was going in for. Well, I started my speech with saying 'what I am going for I am doing for me. I want the support of my friends and family, but if they cannot support me in my decision, it's THEIR problem not mine'. So in all honesty whatever she thought was kind of hard to vocalize after I put it that way to her. Now she's very supportive and even asking me what I will and will not be able to eat at our annual holiday party so she can make sure there is stuff for me. All this to say, is that we need people to support us in our journey. I am not ashamed to tell people what I am doing, I am more ashamed of being the weight that I am .
  24. not as per my surgeon. he doesn't offer the bars or soups strictly the shakes. vanilla or chocolate. that's it that's all. it's going to be a looooooooong 2 wks.
  25. I am on a strict optifast diet for 2 weeks prior to surgery. I am only allowed 4 shakes a day with one cup of vegetables/day and tons of water. Out of everything this is what stresses me out the most. I start this friday!
