  1. I am going to the seminar January 15th. I'm excited for it.
  2. Hi guys! I was here some time last year when I first heard about the lapband, but then when I found out my insurance didn't cover it. I was discouraged and went away, but now I am back and super excited that my insurance BCBS AL now covers lapband and I am starting my long journey back to skinny! How is everyone?:biggrin1:
  3. Thanks, thats what theyre doing now, so I can bring it to my PCP in hopes he can figure it out.
  4. No, I'm here in the US in Utah with BCBS AL.. and the lady said that they cover banding, but not lapband and I was like okkkkk??? I'm in a battle with insurance and they say its investigational, yet I've told them how like other places have named it uninvestigational.. and shes like I didnt know that. I hate them. Haha. :angry
  5. Well I'm confused cause my insurance rep said something about gastric banding being covered, but not lapband? I was like whhhat.. I always thought it was the same.
  6. I saw something about hair loss in another thread, but I don't know where it went. Anywayssss... is it true you lose massive amounts of hair for a bit after the surgery, cause I really don't wanna lose my hair.. :omg:
  7. I live in Utah, but my insurance is through Alabama, but what I wanted to know, is if anyone has any luck appealing them and getting the surgery? Is there hope? :nervous
  8. My insurance policy covers one weight loss surgery, but not the Lapband, it covers the Gastric Bypass, does that mean I will not be able to have them pay, or is that worthy of appeal, and what would be my first steps towards appeal?
  9. I've had a few nasty things said to me, one was from my aunt.. "My you've gotten big, oh I mean taller" I could tell she meant I had gotten heavier. The second was in a nail salon this girl I was sitting next to said to me, "I would love to have weight loss surgery and ya know lose that big gut and all that weight" and she was like a size 2, she was saying it to be a bitch and I wanted to just be like F--- off. People are just so nasty sometimes.
  10. Hey, I also thinking about getting the surgery, but in the states. I noticed a lot of people are having complications too, but then you also have to look at the positive and noticed that a lot of people are successful. I also think that this surgery has far less complications than Gastric Bypass, so that made me feel good. I think that every case if different and you have to take it with good faith! Good luck to you =]
  11. Restaurants are partly what make people over-weight! They give portions that aren't needed when we all really should be eating the portions that children get, its just sad that they won't let people order off of them half the time. Theres a restaurant I used to go to a lot and I always order off the kids menu, and its jsut as satifying as what you can get on the adult menu. I haven't been banded, but that card thing sounds cool, and places should accept it like the bladder card thing where they have to let you use the bathroom it is a medical condition so they really should honor it!
  12. When you get home after surgery, what do you do? Do you try to sleep, or would it be painful to sleep?
  13. When you get back to solids are you allowed sushi?
  14. I was thinking waaaay after surgery like months, but I was thinking beer more like wine.. maybe thats a question for my doctor.
  15. I have not been banded yet, but I was wondering can you still drink alcohol occasionally? Or is that not really allowed, I'm not saying like all the time, but at a party is it ok to have one drink?
