Is Discomfort While Eating Just Part of the Package?

Triangular When Full
This thread is too funny. Even when the posters are dead serious. :sneaky:

I hate it when people post just to post.....
It really depends on the context. A bit on the tone, but since it's usually said in a very sweet manner, I wouldn't rely so much on the tone. 90% of the time, when that phrase is used, it's meant condescendingly (at least down south).

Anyone else dealing with other people comments
I haven't received any negative comments which led me to ponder why some do and some don't. Here's my theory: People who know me, know better than to think they can step on me or my feelings. Maybe I send that energy out even to strangers because it just doesn't happen. Even on a board like this, I think it's relatively easy to pick up on things like that. If even your husband feels free to "diss" you, then could it be that you are sending out a message to the world that you are a doormat? I bet if you start realizing that you are a worthy person regardless of the size of your wallet, home, car or what the scales say, people will start respecting you more. I bet you'll even start liking image in the mirror more, too.

Isn't $450 too much to pay for a fill?
It even sounds unethical and illegal (or at least it should be). Hopefully it's some sort of misunderstanding and you can get it straightened out with the billing department.

My Doctor Has Become Concerned
Both my babies were pre-banding but with the first baby, I gained 50 lbs, most of which I gained within the first 4 months and none in the last 3 months. He came one month early. With my second baby I gained 18 lbs, but none in the last 2 months. Once the baby gets bigger, there simply isn't enough room left to eat so your weight should plateau soon or even drop a bit in the latter part of your pregnancy.

Texas may be located in the southern most region, however, Texas is its own country and Texans don't call themselves Southerners. You should know better, Beth! I do appreciate the "ducks and runs" -- knew that'd come back to bite me one day!

Maybe PattyGreen ordained her? I thought I'd heard a rumor that PG has a direct cell # to the Almighty.

Yeah, it was sad to see that the first thing he went back to was an obese family indulging in the very thing that keeps them trapped in their body prisons. My DH said that the boy should have taken the $25k, left the show and got a band. He'd have had a better chance of keeping the weight off long term with a band than to keep up with an exercise regiment of 6-8 hours a day living off salads and fish for the rest of his life (especially considering the fact that he'd been grossly obese all of his life and came from a family who were grossly obese).

American Idol 2009
Clearly Bikini Girl did not have enough confidence in her singing ability to let it "shine" on its own. She had a nice body and a decent singing voice but the face and attitude fell far short. I thought the cute young girl with the pink cowboy hat and 100s of songs was just adorable! Not a very good singer but I wanted to keep on watching her. I hope some network exec picks up on her cuteness, likability and obvious confidence in front of a camera. I can totally see her in a sitcom.

Nope. "Fixin' ta" might be pure Texan, but "Bless your heart" is more genteel Southern.

While I too would have voted for Jerry to go home, I was wondering WTF? Why is the youngest and heaviest dude losing the least amount of weight (green girl aside)? Does he really deserve to be there? Even whiny a$$, bad attitude Joelle did better than him.

Should prostitution be legal?
I wonder if PG loves sinners as much as the Christian Crusaders loved the non Christians they slew?

three-week plateau
Are you referring to the following? Seapoint Farms Dry Roasted Edamame (lightly salted) is delicious AND relatively healthy. 1/4 cup serving size contains: calories: 130 fat: 4 grams; only .5 sat. fat and no trans fats cholestrol: 0 sodium: 150 mg (not sure if this is high but it says 6% of daily value) carb: 10 g; Fiber 8g; sugar 1g PROTEIN: 14 grams A relatively low cal/high protein/high fiber snack with healthy fats. It only contains Soybeans and Sea Salt. It also satisfies that craving for chips or popcorn.

three-week plateau
I'm always on a plateau. I usually plateau for 2-3 weeks then I lose 1/2 pound every couple of days for 2-3 weeks and then plateau again for 2-3 weeks. It's been this way since I first got banded. I've averaged about 5 lbs loss a month.

10 days post op and EATING!
green, I am OBSESSED with the scale. I weigh when I wake up, when I use the bathroom and before I go to bed. If there was a scale at work, I'd be visiting it hourly. While on vacation during Christmas, I was practically having withdrawal symptoms because I didn't have access to a scale. I'm afraid if I don't keep a close eye on my weight, it will creep back on me. The last time I put the scale away a year prior to surgery, I put on 30 lbs. I know it wasn't because of the scale, but I feel if I had kept better tabs on the weight gain, I wouldn't have been in so much denial. This is all probably an addict's way of justifying an addiction.

3mos - Am I eating too much
I posted this on another thread, but I thought it would fit in equally well here. I didn't feel much restriction until my 4th fill about 4 months out; that wasn't quite enough and my 5th fill about 5 months out finally gave me enough restriction that I began to understand what people meant by the "sweet spot". You will stay hungry for about the first 2-4 weeks until your stomach gets adjusted to the new limited amounts. After that, you will still have head hunger issues and/or desire to eat larger portions than you should, until you reach the "sweet spot". Once at the sweet spot, even if you crave something and give in, just a small amount goes a long way. Of course that doesn't apply to "liquid" food. I had a lot of questions and doubts initially because I really did think this was the easy way out prior to surgery. I was self-pay so I didn't have to jump through all the hoops and go through all the classes, etc. Had I done so, I might not have gone through the surgery. Now, I am so glad I did go through with the surgery but I admit I went through it blind. In looking back, I realize the first 3 months were the toughest because the band isn't working at its optimum level (at least for me). Don't fool yourselves into thinking you can get bigger fills to get more restriction early -- that's a dangerous road to band slippage or even worse, erosion. Let your mind, body and band have the time it needs to get to know each other and become a healthy team.
