  1. My nurse told me that it has to be filled slowly to allow the body to adjust as a fill that s too tight too quickly could cause physical damage to the restricted area and that there has been cases of the restricted area becoming infected and requiring surgery.
  2. I have 11cc in a 14cc band and I'm nearly there , next week having something like a 20cc put in as my nurse says that it's definitely nearly there. It's taken a long time to get there. But for me it's helped me understand my food addiction as its started to restrict . I realise for me it's not just about losing weight but changing my mindset as well. Something that I had not fully appreciated before hand. I have lost three stone in eight months and another five to go. This time it feels like I have found something that helps me but doesn't take the responsibility away from me.
  3. I'm feeling better today but not trying that again, made me very unwell. I guess we are all different.
  4. Well I had a single glass of wine yesterday since my last fill and was instantly very drunk! Been ill all day today with nausea and not being ale to keep any food down at all. So that's the end of alcohol for me !
  5. I'm seriously thinking its best if I give up , my band has been very tight and working well for two weeks. Had a glass of gin and orange juice and felt hungry. An hour later I ate as if I had no restriction at all ! Scared the hell out of me !
  6. Hi can anyone tell me what their experiences are with alcohol and their lap band
  7. It's not only the op your paying for its the aftercare and the possibility that you will need surgery post operatively . Given the amount of money it took to get fat I don't think five grand is so bad to get thin
  8. Perfectly normal, I was banded August and in the last week stopped feeling hungry
  9. I was banded in August initially lost twenty then gained ten, I've just had my third fill bringing me up to 9.5 cc and finally I have restriction ! I have started to lose weight again and I'm not hungry. I have been very frustrated and felt very let down. But it's started now so great. Keep going
  10. I think I may have reached restriction ! Suddenly on Saturday evening my appetite dissipated , I am struggling to eat at the moment and have had hardly anything since then. I'm watching my fluid intake and added in vitamins. I am at 9.5 of a 14cc band so hopefully this is it. For the ones of you who took the time to support me with your helpful advice thank you, I will be staying on here and contributing and reading.
  11. I'm not sure what I have to say . I'm certainly not lying I would not have come here to ask if I wanted to lie . Your right I was expecting more from this , but hey I was looking for some advice not to be called a liar and to feel worse than I already feel. Thanks for your help.
  12. I am diabetic on metformin I'm definitely eating less usually once a day. I was eating at night but stopped that now. I initially lost twenty pounds then gained ten. I've been the same weight for two months I have seven stone to lose. I have a very busy job so not been exercising . However I live on a fifth floor flat with no lift and I'm up and down these stairs about five times a day. My dietician says not to worry as when restriction kicks in I will lose , my nurse says the same. It just feels a little hopeless at the moment.
  13. I was banded in August and today I'm up to 9 1/2 cc . I'm beginning to think this is not going to work. I have not lost weight and I'm hungry
  14. How are you doing now ? I was banded in September 2012so eary days
  15. None aware of a support group in the area of west Wales. I'm currently two weeks post banded and would like to meet others. If there is no such group, anyone interested in meeting ?
  16. I had my op in Bromsgrove and found the whole experience great. They were efficient attentive and organised. The surgery went fine and I left the next day with no problems. I also had the £5,000 package but that included two years band fills.
  17. It's a very different picture in Wales, nigh on impossible to get lap band surgery on the NHS so I paid for mine and went to Dolan Park in Bromsgrove. If it had been available I would have gone to my local hospital as its spotlessly clean and has fantastic facilities with very hard working staff. How do I know , because I'm a nurse.
  18. Thanks it's nice to talk to people who know .
  19. The left side thing is correct I get the same. I'm going to increase the walking tomorrow, I've had to put pillows into sitting position which is alleviating some of it, but it's such a pain both physically and emotionally.
  20. In Wales they do not follow the guidelines in my area the local health board, that's the equivalent to your pct only did ten a year
