  1. Yes. I haven't had to restrict my diet at all, just change my bite size and the amount of chewing.
  2. This is why we love you CG!!!!!!!
  3. I was banded on September 11, 2013. I had my first fill on November 7th. I had my second fill January 9th. It is January 17th and EVERY SINGLE DAY since my second fill I have been (almost) stuck!!! Let me start by saying that my band is NOT too tight! I get my fills under fluro and that takes the guesswork out of it. THIS IS ALL MY FAULT!!!!!!!! I own it. I am eating too quickly. My bites are probably a little too big. And as a result, I get stuck, kind of. It's not horrible like others have described, but it's enough to get my attention. Before this second fill, my band was filled enough to keep me satisfied after eating but during the meals I didn't really have to pay much attention to what I was doing. HOLY COW is it different now!!! And I'm not complaining! This is the way it is supposed to be....this is what I signed up for. I just got comfortable and complacent and now I am wide awake. I am working on developing better habits so that I get the most out of my band. I refuse to be that patient who doesn't follow the rules and then tries to blame the band or the surgeon. So I am putting it out there. I am taking ownership of my mistakes and publicly (sort of) making a commitment to change. ok, that feels better now. Thanks for listening.
  4. Anyone else feel like my fitness pal gives you way too much credit for calories burned?? It says I burn about 800 during an hour of Zumba....I feel like that's too high. It also says I burn about 700 during a 30 minute run. Too much???
  5. My preop diet consisted of liquids only the day before. It was fine. Each doctor is different....if you like your surgeon and are comfortable, go for it!
  6. Congratulations!!! What an inspiration you are! Thanks for posting!
  7. you are not alone!!!! I had a horrible couple weeks! the deliciousness staring me in the face was to tough to resist. but i was like you....kept at the exercise and havent gained. but haven't lost, either!! time for both of us to get back on the horse....we can do it!! happy new year!
  8. So I was out shopping with my husband and he pulled me into New York and Company. This used to be my favorite store until I couldnt fit into their clothes anymore. The largest size they have in the store (in jeans) is an 18. I started at a size 20 in plus size jeans. He took the 18, and sent me into the dressing room. I gave myself a pep-talk....this isn't a plus size store. The 18s might be tight but that's ok. If you went into Lane Bryant they would probably be a little loose. You'll get there. So I pulled them up, suprisingly easily, and smiled when I realized they were too big. I asked him to get me a 16. He came back. They fit pretty good. He said, "just for the hell of it, let's try a 14....if you keep losing weight they will fit in no time". So I did. AND THEY FIT!!!!! I lost it. Cried like a baby right in the dressing room. I still can't believe it. I am wearing a size 14 jean from a regular, non-plus-sized store and I can breathe at the same time! I'm really doing this. I can do this! WE CAN DO THIS!!!!
  9. Thank you so much for posting this CG!!!!! This is EXACTLY something I needed to hear right now! Christmas Cookies have been kicking my a$$!!! But today is a new day and I CAN do this!!!!
  10. Hey CG, can I borrow your hubby? I promise I'll return him in good condition.....
  11. In just ten pounds I will be entering ONEderland!!!! So how do you Celebrate this milestone, or any milestone in your weight loss journey?? I was thinking of getting a pedicure, but I love different ideas so share yours!!!!
  12. A friend of mind started training for a mud run and had a similar thing happen to her. She had the spotting like you mentioned but not the real deal. The doctor told her that the spotting WAS her period for that month. Her body was just adjusting to the new routine. Check with your doc, jjust to make sure.
  13. Can't PM either. But I do have PMS....so there's that.
  14. That's an awesome goal!! And totally attainable!! My first 5k is going to be this spring....it's a personal NSV I'm trying to reach. But a weight goal for me is to be in "onederland" by February 15. My husband bought be tickets to see luke bryan and I want to be under 200 by then!! I'm 217 now, so I really think I can do it if I don't kill myself over the holidays!! Wish me luck!
  15. I just had my first fill last week. Nothing to it!! If your surgeon does fills under fluro you are in for a treat! It's awesome to watch! I had a small bruise the next day but it didn't hurt really. The night of the full I went to my Zumba class, so really, it's easy!
  16. There is NO WAY to say thank you for what you have done for our country. I'm deeply sorry that you feel the way you do about Veteran's Day. It should be your favorite day of the year...a day you are treated like the hero you are. I wish there was something I could do, and if there is, PLEASE tell me what it is! Just know that there are those of us who are truly thankful for your brave service and sacrifice. I hope you enjoy the day as much as you can.
  17. I was self pay for my surgery (I wasn't heavy enough for long enough....grrrr) and I thought I saw a post a while back about fills. Someone said even though insurance didn't cover the surgery, they were covering her fills. Is this happening with anyone? Any ideas on how I can get my insurance to spring for the fills?
  18. Thanks for your support!! My husband is extremely supportive and that's been a huge help. While I was out one big the hid all of the Halloween candy and put a bag of almonds in its place. He and my kids are eating it and it's so helpful that it isn't sitting on the counter just staring at me!! Between your kind words and him hiding the sweets, I've lost 3 pounds! It's so nice to have so many supportive people in my life, even if it is a virtual relationship!
  19. I'm bluegirly on MFP!!!! Add me too!!!
  20. I got my first fill yesterday. My surgeon does his fill in the hospital radiology dept, and OMG that was cool!! Drinking the yucky chalky stuff was totally worth it to see what actually goes on in my banded belly! He had me take a drink, and we watched the liquid just pool at the top of the band. He said "too tight", took some saline out, and I took another drink. This time the fluid slowly ran through the stoma, and we were good! It was so awesome to see!
  21. It's not silly, it's AWESOME!!!!!! Great job!!!
  22. Wednesdays are my weigh-in days. I weigh myself and take measurements. This week I was up a little over a pound. My measurements are the same, so I guess that's good. Why am I not surprised??? The FREAKING HALLOWEEN CANDY has been calling my name since last Thursday!!! And I've been answering. Like a moth to a flame. The band didn't fail me this week. I failed it. Eating crap (and a lot of it) has changed the numbers on the scale and now I am mad at myself for being so weak! Tomorrow is my first fill and it couldn't come at a better time! I fell off the damn horse, but I'm on my way back in the saddle. I WILL be successful. I WILL not fail my band. But holy sh*t this feeling sucks!
  23. That's a great goal, and very attainable!!! Good luck!
  24. I go for my first fill Thursday....I can't wait!!! I am definitely fighting hunger recently and it's rough!! So my fill is in the morning. What can I expect for the rest of the day as far as how I will feel physically?? My husband has the day off and we are going to take the kids out for a "family day". Obviously I know that I won't be able to eat that day, but will I feel ok to walk around or will I just want to sleep??
