Let's Check In November 2012 Sleevers!
Hi everyone! My name is Tara. I am getting sleeved on November 17th by Dr. Alvarez. I'm so excited and cannot wait to start my weight loss. My husband is deployed and comes back in December we do not have kids yet. He is being very supportive and I'm just counting the days until we start our new skinny lives together..he lost 60lbs when he joined the Army. Good luck to all!

Pcp Doesn't Recommend Surgery
Today I asked my PCP if she is familiar with after care for someone that has had weight loss surgery...she said yes but also told me I wasn't that "big". She went on to tell me some good tips for nutrition and wrote down some good protein powders and vitamins. She said if I start losing weight with the pre-op diet that I should reconsider having surgery because it is dangerous and people die and they get malnutrition. Sooo I'm kind of weirded out cause she is the first person to tell me anything like that. She also said that she knows people that have stretched their pouch and gained back weight. This by all means is not changing my mind, I have my date and money in place already..and support by my husband and family. The only reason I asked her is because I'm going to Mexico for my surgery and I need a Dr. to help if I need it. Feedback/comments? I guess I'm nervous now and I have been confident up until today. Thanks.

Fmla?
I am getting sleeved by DR. Alvarez in Mexico in late December..did anyone who was self pay get their DR. to fill out FMLA paperwork for time off? I know how FMLA works I have done it before but never a DR. from out of the country. Thanks for any input. :-)

51 And Conflicted Between The Band And The Sleeve- Your Thoughts Wanted!
Buplee, I also just decided today that I am going to go with the sleeve. The past 7 years I have wanted the band but after researching and chatting with some people on here and on the lap band site it really is a better choice. As long as everything goes well and you have a good doctor. I am in the process of having Dr. Alveraz as my doc in Mexico, since I'm self pay. He is very popular on this site. Good luck! It's just nerves. I'm right there with you. Lol! Take care.

Still Indecisive
Hi. I am having my first consultation with a Dr. I met at a seminar a few Weeks ago. I will be self pay since my insurance will not cover the lap band because I don't have serious complications from being obese. I have wanted to get the lap band for about 8 years now but my family has not been supportive. I am now married and my husband has decided to back me up and help me through this journey, which is great and a big relief but I am still deciding if it is worth 15,500 I guess I just need some advise from someone that has been through a similar situation. Thanks for any advise. :-)
