  1. Hi, I have a BMI of 35.6 the doctor basically said not to lose any weight until approval. I have blue cross blue shield direct access. I do not have high bp,diabetes, sleep apnea. I do have high cholestrol and osteo arthritis. Did anyone who has a low BMI with no major health issues have any problems getting approved? The doctor does not want me to go to a lower BMI for now in case the insurance does not approve it. Any one else similar to this situation? I live in the beautiful state of NJ
  2. I have a sleep study and then I go for approval. Blood luck I hear good things!
  3. Hi eti, Who did your surgery and how are you feeling. Love these boards I have gotten such a great education while meeting very informative people.
  4. Well thanks for all the info. It means a lot to me. I know 4 people who went through this process. Two did very well two did not. I am opting for not telling anyone except my husband. It is not easy but I feel at this time this is best for me. So I love these forums even more so and I lov the nj one because I feel you all cn relate. Please all keep and stay in touch with me!
  5. Hi, Thanks for responding. Sounds like you were in the same boat as I am in. First when I went for the consultation they asked me what date I wanted. I must say I was a little shocked because I was not expecting to seethe doctor and get the ball rolling. I really don't know what I expected to be honest. So I have almost two weeks off in December and I have a job that requires me to be on my feet all day long so I decided to take the later date. I was looking to change it but decided against it and keep the Dec date. I also have direct access. I have to go for a sleep apnea test and a endoscope of my stomach. That is pretty soon. Not crazy about the endoscope but the doctors said it has to be done. Did you have to have this?
  6. Hi, I am stating the process with dr reich in manahawkin nj. My surgery date is set for dec 14. So right now I am going to all the doctors. If anyone out there wants to share any info I'm all wars. I have been looking at lbt fow awhile and in mid august went ton the surgeon office to speak with him. I was surprised how quick everything got starred. I explained to him although my bmi is around 35 I do not have leep apnea, high bp or diabetes. But dr. Reich feels that my insurance company will approve it. I have blue cross blue shield. He says they are not one of the more difficult insurance companies to get an approval. So if any you nj peeps out there who want to share your experiences please do so!
  7. Hi, Has anyone had any experience with dr. Reich? I am going through the process and looking for some support out there. Thanks Daisy
  8. Thank you so much, looks like the December date wins. Thanks for all the in put I truly appreciate it!
  9. Thanks you guys are awesome!!! I so appreciate it!!!
  10. ok I'm on board, started with the doctors appointments. I have a tentative date for mid December. Now my wonderful husband springs on me that we are going to Superbowl 2013. Which is about 6 weeks post op. Now if it was me and him going alone I wouldn't have a problem, but we are going with another couple and I am not sharing my lap band surgery with any one except my husband. So what should I do? I can move the surgery up to first week in November but then I would only have one week to recover before going back to work. I work on my feet all day long. Or keep the mid December date have two weeks off of work and roll the dice when it comes to Superbowl time? I got one wonderful lbt take on my situation but need more feedback! Please help!
  11. Ok what is bandster hell. Another crazy question. My tentative date for surgery is dec 14..... If I take that date I have 2 1/4 weeks to recover before going back to work. Or I can take a nov 1 surgery date and have a week recovery. Ok so here is the catch my husband surprises me with this super bowl trip on feb 3. So now all I cN think about is what am I going to eat will I still have t mash my foods. If I was just with him I would be ok but we are suppose to go with friends who I don't want to know about all of this? Crazy huh!!! So what do you think ?
  12. Ok lots of ? How do you feel? What did tondo before the surgery eating wise? And how longs was your stay in the hospital? Lot of pain any problems ? How about eating afterwards? Are you sharing this journeynwith friends and family? Biggest question if u sneeze does it feel like u are dying ? Lots more ? To come. Heardvyoubdoctor is very good btw!!
  13. Hi miss e, I'm in the same boat with you. Would love to share the experience. I just started the process some info makes me ready and some info makes me scared to death. Especially the sneezing part. I have chose to go it alone and not tell anyone except my husband. This in itself I think would be feat. But give me a shout out if your interested in being buddies. Daisy
  14. Hi, I just went for a consultation and am now going through with all the doctors appointments. I am not sharing my lap journey with any one except my husband who is 100 % behind me. I am married with three children. I am looking for someone whonunderstand my situation and is will to be my buddy through this. I actually know a few people who got banded , some with awful results and some with awesome results. I have been on this roller coaster and need really badly to have lot of questions answered.
