How Did You Set Your Goal Weight?
Holy cow, 150 at 5'10" seems crazy. I'm 5'7" and fit into a size 8 jeans when I was at 150. Now granted that was 20 years ago but still!

Any December Sleeves?
I'm currently on for December 18 but I'm hoping to get it moved back a week to the 11th. My class, which is all about the pre-op/post-op diets, etc. is on November 27th.

Plication?
I didn't even consider it because I heard insurances weren't covering it yet.

How Did You Set Your Goal Weight?
Just curious how/why people picked the numbers they did. My doc asked me what my goal was. I guess she figured it was reasonable so she didn't try to talk me out of it. I just picked a number that I remember being happy at, but that was over 20 years ago! Although right now I'd be happy if I was within 20 pounds of that!

My Biggest Fear - I Need Your Advice
Man, can I relate! I have lost 10, 20, 40, even 60 pounds. Only to regain all plus more. I reached a point where I was afraid to diet because I get even bigger as a result every time I do. I had resigned myself to a miserable fat life. I gave up hope. Every time I lost weight, I think one of the main reasons I gained it all back was because I figured if I lost it once, I could do it again. Unfortunately, no diet or other method has ever worked for me twice. Maybe it was the novelty of a new program, I don't know. The reason this IS going to work for me is because I know going in that there's no second chance. I can't lose it then justify gaining by saying I can just have another VSG! This is it. This is my last shot at the life I want. Good luck and home to hear from you soon!

Grrrr. This Part Is So Stressful!
I have Aetna but just had the same problem. I went to the doc once in 2011, but never in 2010. I was able to get hold of an ER report from when I broke my leg in 2010 and fortunately it had my weight on it.

Frequently Asked Questions
If you are going through a Bariatric center, they should be able to tell you time frames. Typically, they are based on what your insurance requires prior to approval. Most are 3-6 months. Good luck!

This Is A Disgusting Post, Please Only Readif You're Ok With Explicit Fces Talk!
Wow, the thing I'm most surprised about is the fact that you are 6 months out. I had a similar experience a few days after delivering my first child but assumed it was just because of the whole delivery experience. That whole area was so traumatized, nothing worked! I swear that first bowel movement was worse coming out than the baby. Felt like a brick of concrete.

So Frustrated But Trying To Focus On The Positive
The office coordinator called and said she just finished reviewing my entire file and its ready to go to Aetna. The note from my PCP on 7/30 is comprehensive enough to consider it my 90 day start. All she needs is the notes from the surgeon which she will get after I meet with him tomorrow. Package will be faxed tomorrow afternoon. Usually takes 1-3 weeks for approval. Tentative (assuming ins. approval) surgery date is December 18. Shut up and be happy, right? I shouldn't even think about the fact that I called the other coordinator over a month ago to ask if maybe the July date could be used and she CHECKED and told me no, we have to go with my appt. there on 8/17. Or the fact that if I had met with the doc even last week, they could have faxed it all over on Monday morning. Yes only a 4 day difference between that and Thursday afternoon, but still. Or the fact that if I had met with the doc maybe a few weeks ago they could have gotten me a sooner date before his schedule booked up. Not like I didn't ask at every opportunity if there was anything I could be doing to speed the process up, check boxes, etc. I was constantly asking if I could be doing more earlier. Of course, tomorrow I will ask the doc personally if there's any way (or cancellations) I can get in any of the 3 weeks prior to that, which would STILL allow 3 weeks for ins. approval which should come anytime between now and Thanksgiving. I'm also going to send the coordinator a thank you note and request the same. So if I get operated on 12/18, come home 12/20, dinner for 13 at my house on the 24th. I know, I know. It's going to happen. I should be grateful for that... Oh, and did I mention my husband might win a trip to Mexico in March and how much an extra 3 or 4 weeks would mean to me?!

Weekly Miralax Date
Miralax is amazing. I used to rake it every day, now I'm down to every other or every 3rd day. Does not give you cramps or pain. It's a laxative, but not a stimulant. And it's very safe!

Egd Timing Before Surgery?
So I was hoping for surgery end of Nov/early Dec. Just scheduled my EGD and the first date available is Nov. 13. On the hospital prep form it says to be sure and schedule your EGD at least 4-6 weeks prior to surgery?? Anybody have to wait that long? Or not, I hope?!
