  1. I don't remember what the doctor said about hearthburn in the first month, but every monthly checkup I have, he asks if I'm having heartburn. He says it's a sign the band is too tight and could be causing other problems. If I were you I would call your doctor's office and just ask them about it. Better to be safe and have some peace of mind than continue to worry and be in pain.
  2. You're having him do all the right things. It's just hard to sleep comfortably in the very beginning. Heating pad really is going to be his best friend for the next few days. Have him keep up with his pain medication and it will soon get better. I was sleeping much better by night 3-4 so he is almost there.
  3. And I know we've all heard this but muscles weighs more than fat. Since you've probably increased your physical activity level, you are gaining muscles tissue which is more dense than fat. Great job for you though because it's lean muscle tissue that will help burn more fat even after you're done working out! Congratulations on the loss so far!
  4. The suggestion about rolling your foot over a frozen water bottle is great and it really works to relieve pain. Visit with a physical therapist. They can not only prescribe stretches to help keep the fascia from getting too tight along the sole of the foot (which is what's causing the inflammation and thus the pain) but they can also do some treatments to help push out the inflammation far faster than you could do on your own. Several treatments and you will be a thousand times better.
  5. I had my first fill of 3cc in my 12 cc band today too. My doctor said I might not feel any restriction for the first 2-3 fills. He also said he used the large profile band on me and that makes a difference in how much restriction I am/am not feeling. He didn't say anything about it being tighter in the morning but he did say to be very cautious over the next 2 days, chew slowly and very well, to ensure nothing gets stuck. I feel frustrated that I'm not feeling any restriction but I have to say it was a pretty easy experience compared to what I had envisioned.
  6. WOW! How amazing! You are an inspiration to us all.
  7. Congratulations! Bet that's some really great motivation
  8. Didn't sleep well either last night, spark, and understand what you're going through. Feeling some pain but it's very managable with the meds. Toughest thing I'm dealing with is a headache from my anti-nausea medicine. Moving pretty darn well and can't believe the surgery was just this morning. We're all in this together and it really helps having this group, doesn't it!
  9. Thanks slojo67! Can't sleep at all but I'm taking this time to go over some surgery and post-op stories to help me prepare for later this morning. Just wish time would go a little faster
  10. My surgery is tomorrow too. Sounds like our weeks have been similar. Lots of shopping and prepping. Good luck tomorrow. Let us know how you do. It's a big journey and so nice to have others going through it at the same time. Get some sleep tonight!
  11. My surgery is tomorrow morning. Today was to SLOWEST day ever! Now just have to get through tonight. I am feeling so many emotions - excitement, nervousness, hope. I know that I'm making the best decision for myself and just need to get tomorrow over with. This group has helped alot. Hearing everyone else's fears, successes, suggestions, and encouragment has really made me feel like I'm not in this alone.

Thanks for sharing your story! I am getting banded in one week and need to hear inspirational stories like yours. Congratulations on the new life you've worked so hard to achieve!
  13. Hi Andrealeigh2116! There's several of us on here with the same surgery dates. It will be great to have each other for support!
  14. My surgeon suggested about a week off and a 20 lb lifting restriction for a few days. I think if you're careful about your lifting and make sure to take time to sit, you should be ok. Might be sore but that's managable.
  15. Find something that inspires you such as looking at before and after weight loss photos here and on YouTube. That might help give you the extra emotional boost you need to help get you through this tough time. I know you can do this! You've already come so far and just need to get over this hump.
  16. It's an exciting time, isn't it! Hope you have a good initial consult on Monday and find if this is the right choice for you. This is a great place to get all kids of questions answered by people who are and have already gone through the same thing as you. It's been a great support for me. Hope all goes well!

  19. I am doing it self-pay as well. The way I look at it is I need this to live a full and fulfilling life. I want to be around for my kids and my husband so it will be well worth it in the end. Writing that big check won't be fun but I AM WORTH IT!!
  20. Good luck CB2! We'll all be thinking about you tomorrow. You can do it!!
