  1. Well, it's hard for me b/c @ 1st I could only drink 1oz every 15 min. That's what u do right after surgery. I have a 3 oz stomach that us swollen & creating scar tissue, so I don't get full use of that 3 oz. If I drink too much, too fast, it's an aweful feeling. So, that aweful feeling of over-fullness keeps me from overindulging or gulping my liquids. It's kinda like that feeling that u get after Thanksgiving dinner! But pain & nausea to go w/. It's an opportunity to really change my habits, honor them, learn what my body needs. & I hear it gets better! But 3oz is tiny! I'm learning what it all looks like on a plate (now a saucer), a spoon (now a baby spoon), & a cup (after surgery, a 1oz NyQuil cup). It's a lot of work w/a HUGE PAY OFF!!! 17lbs off, 1 1/2 weeks post op! Good luck!
  2. Just when I was almost hitting my liquids goal of 64oz, I got excited about eating mushy food, & BAM, liquid goal down the drain. It takes me so long to eat, there's just not time enough in the day for me to eat & drink, I feel like. It's like I have to choose, & I feel like liquids are the priority. I can't enjoy any of my mushy food purchases b/c of all this drinking! Nevermind when I have to go back to work next week & can't spend all day drinking & eating. I'm feeling overwhelmed today. Any advice?
  3. Itchy, but that's good. No complications, & they're a lot less gross than I thought they'd be. Can't wait to start Mederma after a but more healing. Try not to germ them up w/your fingers.
  4. Oh yea..CARBS! Apparently, that term was stuck in my mental black box. Thanks y'all. I didn't do noodles, but if we're on that 'carbs' thing, I guess my Loaded Baked Potato Soup is a bad choice. Big oops. I was trying to cone up w/some new soup choices besides creamy chicken & creamy potato.
  5. It happened! It ain't winnin any gold medals, but on day 8, it happened! Thanks for your support & info guys
  6. Are noodles considered a 'soft' food; as in chicken noodle soup, etc.?
  7. But do u guys eat crackers w/it or what? I can't just chomp on cheese, but I miss it do much! I love Laughing Cow. But I want to put it on something!
  8. I love it! Y'all are cracking me up! It took me 2 days to get the nerve to ask, but hey, I just figured that's what this place is for, right?! I'll letcha know when the golden moment happens for me..
  9. Every day is a new day & a different/better experience. I'm 8 days out. Still not "hungry", but on day 6, my stomach woke up & roared! all these strange noises; I've never paid so my h to the inside of my body before. I thought I'd never get my 64oz liquids & 64 oz protein requirement in, it's like a full time job & i was so nervous & intimidated, but it gets easier & easier. I put protein powder in everything. Tried instant mashed potatoes 2day, & I think I ate 2 much 2 fast, & felt kinda nauseous- had 2 go lie down. I guess learning's gonna be like that. It's the price for this amazing do-over gift the sleeve gives us. Good luck!
  10. I was told that drinking before will make me too full to eat what I need, & drinking after flushes my food right out of my stomach & keeps me from feeling full/satisfied as long as possible, so as not to graze.
  11. My steri-strips came off today (well, they had a little help). But they were 1/2 off & pulling. The incisions look good as far as incisions go. I was told not to put Neisporin on them when I left the hospital. But I want to put something on them. Shouldn't I? Like Maderma or Vitamin E? What are y'all doin?
  12. Awesome, I have gas! I'm not gonna die Thank u guys for answering a difficult question to ask.
  13. 64. Oz liquid & 64. Oz of protein. Sounds like ur not getting anything but sugar & sodium. I've enjoyed protein drinks, propel zero, sugar free Popsicles, creamy tomato & creamy chicken Campbell's soup to go w/unflavored protein powder, sugar free jello, decaf coffee w/vanilla or chocolate protein powder. I'd also highly recommend u join a 12 Step program in your area like Overeaters Anonymous. U can find them in the phone book or google them for your area. They're amazing life changers! There's also a section for that on this app. I use myfitnesspal on my iPhone to cout my nutritional values, but I'm not even looking @ calories yet. My Dr's group gave me a book called The Calirie King-Calorie, Fat, & Carbohydrate Counter, which looks like it will be helpful in the future. It even has restaurant info in it. Good luck! Hope this was helpful
  14. I'm 7 days out & not hungry either. I've been told I may never be 'hungry' again, & that's a benefit of the sleeve. About 2 days ago my stomach 'woke up!' tho, & would not stop making noises! It sounded like an angry beast. Ive been intimidated of drinking, but am now getting about 35oz of protein drinks, soups, Popsicles, & 2 glasses of water in. It's like a full time job. But it seems the closer I get to my 64oz liquid requirement & 64oz protein requirement the less noise it makes. It's about relearning my insides, which I never really paid attention to before. Every day gets easier! Hope this helps. Sip, sip, sip
  15. Omg, so embarassing, but I haven't had a bowel movement since Aug1 (my surgery date). Mind u, & not to be gross, but that bowel movement lasted 20hrs! & all I've had to eat is liquids since. But when do I start to get nervous? Is this normal? Or should I do something about it? I'm not even taking iron yet, cuz I knew I might be sensitive. & there is fiber in some I'd my shakes..
  16. No sugar added applesauce is less sweet Instant mashed potatoes w/unflavored Protein Soupy grits w/unflavored protein eggs Soupy oatmeal
  17. I lost 12lbs between my pre-op diet & the day after surgery. I'm 6 days after surgery & I've gained a pound! This tells me to stop weighing myself like a crazy person! We're all different, & we'll all loose it differently. 1st I was scared to loose to much too fast & now I'm scared I won't loose anything. I'm grieving the loss of my past food life, I'm swollen, & I'm learning a new way of life. I think we should give ourselves a break ..& a pat on the back! <3
  18. My 3 favorite are Syntax Matrix chocolate, Unjury vanilla, & Unjury unflavored. They meet all the nutritional requirements, mix well hot or cold, in drinks or food, & taste great, not gritty.
  19. I'm taking Lortab liquid which has Tylenol in it already & was told it was ok to take ibuprofen as anti-inflammatory, so as not to stress my liver by overdosing on acetaminophen. The ibuprofen has helped a great deal w/my back pain & stiffness which has been aggrivated by all this laying/sitting around..
  20. So I had my surgery Aug. 1. When can I take my steri-strips off & start putting mederma on my incisions? Any thoughts on this? I don't want to take them off before I'm supposed to.
  21. Thanks KS. I'm not hungry but it sure did start making lots of noises. Trying to learn how to decider all these wierd noises & bubbles. Not sure I've paid attention to my body this much in a long time. Yesterday I got 35oz of Protein drinks & popsicles & 2-3 glasses of Water. Man, it was like a full time job! & my fear of eating is getting better & better. It's wierd I can feel everything going down & around. I've really had a great experience. Stopped my Zofran for nausea, taking Prevacid, still taking pain med moderately, taking ibuprofen, Calcium & Vitamin chews. I'm a rule follower. But I just can't seem to manage the 64oz thing time wise!! Ugh! But I am getting about 60g protein
  22. Thanks! Cooling 1st totally worked. So did microwaving in several increments & stirring between instead of 1 long time also worked.
  23. I also take the Baristric Advantage Calcium chews in lemon or berry, & the Celebrate Chewable vitamins in Berry. Their not bad @ all & the advantages (like your hair not falling out) way outweigh the 10 second taste. Hang in there. My taste buds & sense of smell have changed too. It's just like having to discover foods for the 1st time. I also really enjoy Matrix chocolate, Unjury unflavored, & Unjury vanilla protein powders. I put them in everything!
