Gallstones?
My Dr. is removing my gallbladder while he does the sleeve. Alittle nervous i was told I would be sore on both sides because of this but reading everything about people needing there gallbladder out after wards I think its worth it to do it all at once. HINTS; since I have been having gallbladder issues off and on for 1 year now.. Drink lemon either straight or with Water. NO ICE WATER, makes it worse, room temp water. Helps the pain to a point.

Stupid Question Alert! Why Remove 80% Of Stomach, Why Not 65%
I found this not the same site but good info :What is a Bougie, and what size do you use? A bougie is a soft flexible rubber tube that comes in multiple sizes. They are designed to stretch esophageal strictures. We use them to calibrate the size of the gastric sleeve. The size indicates the circumference in millimeters. I use a Size 32 bougie, which translates to a diameter of about 10 millimeters or 0.4 inches. This is very thin, and explains why you can't eat very much! It is placed temporarily while performing the operation, then removed." http://laparoscopy.com/pleatman/vsgfaq.htm

Stupid Question Alert! Why Remove 80% Of Stomach, Why Not 65%
I found a site, but my computer died !! but it has to do with a certain size, they found if to small, or to big it just does not work...they stick this tube down your throat and into your stomach and they staple along that if you go to youtube there is surgeries on there you can watch even. It really made me feel better seeing what they are going to do to you.

Disappointed In Me
You can change protein shakes for broth I found Unjury has a chicken broth protein, I just received and I will be adding it to my broth starting tomorrow. I too was having problems with my protein drinks I might get 2 down a day. My NUT said I could have 5oz of chicken because it had high protein or I could have scrambled eggs, I also do salad with petite shrimp and boiled egg cut up. It has help TONS!

Can I Use Fmla/disability
Short term disability is something that some companies offer, you have to ask to see if you are covered. You can apply for short term disability, I have a 7 day grace period that I will have to take vacation, then the rest of my time is covered and I received 67% of my wage per week. I am having my gallbladder out at the same time and I have close to 3 weeks off before I go to work so this is a big plus that I don't waste all my vacation. Your Dr. will have to fill out some forms and you will need to start a claim with STD. I completed all my paperwork 1 month before I was even having surgery to get all my ducks in a row and not have to worry about it when I got home.

Call Your Insurance Company Yourself!
I was told the same thing before I started, to keep on top of everything calling back regularly. I was even calling on test results making sure they were sent up to the Dr.'s ASAP. I called and emailed my Dr's office and insurance company at least weekly. If they needed something I made the call asking why it was not sent already and when it would be sent. I did not wait for Dr. office. Good Luck,!!!

High Bmi
My step dad was 60 BMI or close and he was able to have surgery. They will probably want you to lose some weight. He did 6 months of dieting. Best bet is to talk to the Dr. When I went to the seminary I know there were people with high BMI's.

Sunday Been A Good Weekend!
I was worried about the weekend being bored and eating, I think I did pretty good. Even went out with family for dinner and had salad and baby shrimp. I went with my mom and walked about 1 hour nothing fast just walking around shopping you don't even realize you have walked 1 hour. I started a list of items I will need after I come home from Surgery to have it all in the home for me. I also found a robe to take with me to the hospital, as most know its hard to find one that would fit.... I found this fish at Costco called Hake, I BBQ!'d it for lunch with a little lemon, butter, salt and pepper. 150 cal. per 5 oz serving and LOVE it.. I think I lost 2 more lbs but my scales are not working correct, so it is a guessing game. I went to my mom's and that is the scale that said I had lost 2lbs. compared to Friday's weight. I been looking for a new scale and I will probably go pick up tomorrow so I can start tracking my weight the correct way. I even told my mom really my surgery is 9 days and 13 1/2 hours LOL, My surgery is first thing on the 15th so why count it LOL. Hope everyone's had a great weekend!

Sleeve 8/15- Hate This Liquid Diet!
My surgery is 8/15 also, the liquid diet is hard. I also was told I could do any of the following 1 egg, or salad with petite shrimp, 5oz chicken breast, it really has helped I have that in the am after I have had 1 protein drink earlier. I have not been able to drink 5 protein drinks a day. I get 2 or 2 1/2 down. but sticking to my guns. I was shocked I had lost weight the last week. I did not think I had lost anything. Good Luck!!

Pre Op Appointment Today
I had my pre op appointment today. I had started my liquid diet two days ago and let her know that I was having issues drinking 5 or 6 shakes a day I am only getting 2 down but I am getting my 64 oz of water down plus extra. She let me know it was ok to have chicken, fish, and such just really watch Carbs. I did order chicken broth that is from unjury that has protein that should help but until it arrives I needed to do something I was only taking in about 400 cal. a day. On a good note I had lost weight I have been watching what I eat for about 3 weeks and gave up pepsi since May. I am down to 252lbs. I was pretty happy. I love that the clinic gave me a binder with TONS of info about pre surgery & post surgery. I am having my gallbladder removed at the same time so I will be staying 3 days for sure if not longer.... crossing fingers I am about to leave after 3 days. I know I ramble so I hope this all make sense. Been up since 3 am, that seems to be a big factor lately not being able to sleep. I have all kinds of feelings on the future and surgery. Not really nervous just so many thoughts running through my head. Nurse felt I would not have to much excessive skin after losing weight if I continue the work outs I have been doing.
