  1. Ok when I'm feeling lousy I just have to come and read these... I love 'em all! Here's another that I didn't realize until yesterday. My husband and I rode into town together (in my minivan) and he had to move the seat back! As I moved it forward again, I thought geez, my tummy isn't hitting the steering wheel and I'm driving with my whole foot not just my tippy toes (because I had to have the seat so far back)!!!
  2. How far out are you? Protein shakes try the carnation instant breakfast it's lighter and a little easier to drink. You could also try throwing it into a blender with ice! As for the water, try adding MIO or crystal light in a 32 oz water bottle and force yourself to take a sip every 5 min. You DO NOT want to get dehyderated! Good luck! And you are in control don't let your body tell you different! :-)
  3. O'Purity, same company as "unjury", has a once a day chewable vitamin specificly for gastric bypass! Order on line approx $35.00 for 100. It's a big chewable but it works! I'm sure some of your other meds will be dropped as you drop. Good luck
  4. I'm 9 weeks out without complications but yesterday and today I can't eat. I doesn't seem to go down. Even yogurt was difficult. I have not had a BM in 6 days and I'm very burpy. Any ideas?
  5. A strange one... But you know the little stall showers you get to create a half bath (smaller then a portapotty)... Being able to take a shower in one of those without bumping walls or getting clostorphobic. I have one of those in our laundry room for the 2 older boys, our tub had a crack in it when we first moved here 6 yrs ago so we used the downstairs shower... I had sooooo much trouble. Well last week I noticed water pouring into the downstairs from upstairs tub again... So we are using the little shower... Which is Much Bigger now!
  6. Good luck!!! I'll pray nothing happens to change it again! I actually started this journey 5+ yrs ago, upon attending my 2nd required visit and labs, I found out I was expecting... baby #4. He is 5 now and my journey continued! I am 8 weeks out, off all my insulin, diabetes and blood pressure meds. Keep strong it will be here before you know. If you want a great read click on "what to expect when you're expecting... Weight loss surgery! It is in "Tell your Story". Scroll to the top for the full story, well worth it!
  7. That was GREAT!!! wish I could figure out a way to print it or save it to my iPod! Thank you!!! Hey I couldn't explain How I did it, but I was able to put an icon on my home screen. I want to share it with my mom. THANKS AGAIN!!!
  8. You are all too funny. It's kind of hard to read though, something's hit home hard and had me in tears, some had me laughing to tears. 3 yrs ago my then 2 yr old had to go for surgery and 1 person could go to pre-op with him but had to put on a "One size fits most" surgical jump suit... Well daddy fit into it. As they walked away it was one of the worst moments of my life! Everything turned out ok, so I would have to add to the list... Fit in to a "one size fits all"!!! RNY 5/16/12 lost 59 lbs- 75 total
  9. I'm with the majority here. Told family and close friends. Most don't understand. What I have found is the family of sister in laws and some others don't give me credit for the health changes and weight loss! So what I've started telling them is that this is the hardest diet and life style change I have EVER done (and ive done them all). There are so many "rules" and major consequences for everything you put in your mouth. I didn't realize how strong I really was until now. It makes them realize how much effort I put in and then they don't have much to say. Some do start to ask me questions which is great. As for FaceBook and other people, I'll keep to myself. Good Luck with whatever you decide!
  10. I shouldn't tell you guys this... But I've poured a diet soda in a glass, stirred the heck out of it, then let it sit (hours), stirring it even more so it gets flat enough to have a couple of sips! I have also added diet sprite to my sugar free cranberry juice. I wanted that sip! It was a lot of work and didn't even taste all that great. I'll stick to my Mio's!!!
  11. Has anyone done a tattoo reminding them of where they have been, the RNY, or the new you? I have a 4" tat of a tree FROG (representing Fully- Rely- On- God) on a leaf cross and I'm thinking of trying to incorporate my journey into this or creating a new one. Any thoughts?
  12. I did it!!! After my 11 yr old sons baseball team won the Championships, the team was heading to the China Buffet. Wanting him to be there and my husband at work, so I couldn't bow out... Away i went. I just told the restaurant hostess I had just ate and wasn't hungry (so I didn't have to pay- $15)! When a parent asked... I said I didn't know we were going out after the game and had just grabbed something at the field. Hardest part... Had to help my 5 & 7 yr old get plates. I have to say it was different though. I looked at all the food thru a critical eye! Look at all that butter... That would make me sick... I can tell that is salty... I could have chose the salad bar and salmon, but it felt good just to pass!
  13. K- I too am always on the run... 4 boys 5-17 yrs and we live an hour from the closest town. I've tried the Zone protein bars, Detour protein bars and a couple others. The ThinkThin bars work/taste the best for me. I also carry Almonds, Peanuts in the Shell, String Cheese, Greek yogurt, and LOTS of Water (w/mio)! When in a pinch I have had a McD grilled chicken snack wrap- no sauce, and I throw away most of the wrap. Hope this helps!
  14. That walking series is the BEST!!! There are many different DVD walks to chose from! Some she incorporates the excerbands for a great upper body work out. I have used her videos in a work out class I ran for years and last winter I joined a work out group that used her too! Great for all fitness levels!!
  15. I hope it passes quickly! So sorry about your sister... Hope you can spend time with her!
  16. Thank you Lynn I tried to change it but it keeps wanting to post the standard size which is more then double my actual serving size. With everyday health cal counter it let's you put in as little as 1/4 of an ounce or 1/8 of a cup, all the way up. New Cassie try to do your food tracking, both of these apps are good and it makes it easy to go back and look if you have an issue with a food or if you are looking for something that you liked. Good luck! I don't know if these are available on droid I use my iPod.
  17. I had been using "everyday health calorie counter" free app. Then I heard people talking on here about " my fitness pal" so I tried it. I couldn't figure out how to change portion size, or add mid morning, afternoon snack. I went back to my original app. If anyone is interested I highly recommend the "everyday health calorie counter" you can adjust the serving size and has a lot of the same things as my fitness pal. Happy charting!!
  18. I'm 6 weeks out and have been using peanut butter for 3 weeks... Very sparingly! I use the Natural (no need to stir) kind and haven't had a problem. Good luck.
  19. I am 5 weeks out. I did eat a full bar the first time... BIG mistake! Half a bar is perfect. The name of the protein bars are "thinkThin nutrition bars". White chocolate, Brownie crunch and peanut chocolate. All delicious!
  20. These taste so GOOD. Easy to eat (not gummy). I found these at SAMS Club, 20 grams of PROTEIN, 230-240 calories, 0 grams SUGAR (11-14g sugar alcohol), gluten free. I have 4 boys 4-17yrs, I am always on the run. I noticed on my food tracking I was way down on calories and proteins. These are easy to go and I could only eat half at a time. 15 for $18.
  21. Don't know why but when I am really thirsty I have a cup of Oceanspray LIGHT Cranberry juice and it helps. 5 cal, 2gr. Sugar.
  22. Starting weight: 278 Pre-op weight: 262 Surgery date: May 16, 2012 Current weight: 233
  23. Best of luck for your recovery! Thoughts and Prayers.
  24. My story actually started 5 yrs ago... Attending my 3 appt, routine blood work... 6 months later we welcomed boy #4! 5 yrs later, back in January I was hospitalized for over a week with what started out as TSS, it then progressed into a bacterial blood infection. I was mortified when over the intercom they requested lifting help... for me! I couldnt believe I let myself get up to 278. In the following days my blood sugars jumped into the 500's. I was put on an insulin drip (I had been diet controlled for 7yrs). I went home on 70 units of lantus and a 1 to 5 carb ratio! I started the process a week later and on May 16th I changed my life forever!! This time I left the hospital off all 3 blood pressure meds, all insulin and a new lease on life. I'll be there for my boys! I'm 43 and 20 yrs ago my dad died of a massive heart attack at 46 yrs old! I have always been heavy, I can remember 3rd grade walking home with boys following going boom... Boom... Boom every time I took a step. Now the only step I'm taking is for my HEALTH. I lost 15 lbs pre liquid diet, 12 lbs in the 2 weeks of liquid and 21 in the 3 week post. I haven't been this weight since Phen-Phen! Thanks for letting me tell my story. I am sooo glad I found you guys, wish they would give this app info with everything else from the hospital!! Oh the picture was from in the hospital, I made a Straw and Tape Crown when I was feeling better.
