  1. You can get belly binders at walgreens or Walmart for about $30 ... And to help get the nasty liquid meds down, my nurse said to chase it with a little watered down grape juice... It's flavor is strong enough to cancel out the yuck
  2. My surgeon told me that there are stitches inside that have things pulled tight, and thus I have one spot that looks dented in and he said eventually that stitch will dissolve and that spot will look smooth again and that is also where the pulling feeling comes from.
  3. Thank you everyone... I think I have it figured out now... This is awesome and I linked it to my fitbit too. I love the barcode scanner... This will make tracking so much easier!
  4. I have fit bit and my fitness pal and do see protein anywhere
  5. I know there are lots of apps to track calories but are there any for tracking protein?
  6. I saw something today that Dr. Oz says to drink aloe juice... Also might try taking out lactose... Many people do not realize this can be a symptom of lactose intolerance.
  7. My list of soft food only has toast listed for breads...and only 1 piece at a meal... I used to love that kind of bread too but u will have to work your way up to that... someone said they wrap lunch meat around the string cheese and eat it like that.
  8. When you eat the sandwich are you eating the bread? Try just the lunch meat, some grilled fish, or eggs. Grits and oatmeal are on my soft list too and peanut butter...limited amount though.
  9. What I like about the binder is it is more adjustable and if I sit for a while and it starts feeling tight I can loosen it. And now 2 weeks out I can make it tighter as the swelling goes down
  10. I am 15 days post op and have had no issues at all. Feeling great! Last night though I started feeling a slight pain in my right leg between my ankle and calf... It doesn't hurt to walk or anything, but I can just feel it when I touch it... I know there are lots of nurses on here so my question is once u are 2 weeks out isn't your risk of blood clot way down? I have been pretty active running my 3 kids here and there, and I rest in between.
  11. Maybe you could find a surgery buddy in your area either from this site or a support group in your area. If you live in the Dallas area I would be willing to drive you
  12. I had my sleeve 7/31 with Dr. Nick. Every single thing was absolutely wonderful! I can not say enough good things about him. He has a great beside manner... Very funny... We cracked jokes and his voice reminds me of Nicholas Cage. I loved everyone in his offices and at the hospital. They are very thorough with instructions. He works out of Forest Park and Baylor Plano. Feel free to ask me any questions.
  13. How far post op are you? I get all mine at barbaric advantage.
  14. Ahhh.... Thought maybe it was something else... My drainage tube was removed the next day before I went home. Most people say they don't feel their drain but I found it very painful when they squeezed it and when they removed it.
  15. Starting weight 230 7/31 Surgery weight 219.5 Today@ 2 weeks post op 210
  16. My doc said once I was off the pain meds... For me it was about 10 days although I still took pain meds at night. My first time driving though was strange... I just felt disconnected... Or distracted..I live in Dallas and had to drive 30 min into the city so I just took it easy on the highways.
  17. My 9 your old son came into my room to say goodnight and when he hugged me he started rubbing on my should and says, " Your skin is really hard" I was puzzled cause he was not touching my skin since I had a nightgown on... He pushes on my shoulder and says see it's not squishy.....lol I said oh you can feel my bones... "Yeah see how hard it is" ... Lol... So no my skin is not hard.... But I don't have as much fat under neath my skin...lol tomorrow im 2 weeks post op and im down 19lbs(11 pre op)
  18. I am also 13 days out and have not been having any pain but today i am having the same type of pain but on my left side. Maybe it is just the internal healing?
  19. I will be 2 weeks post op tomorrow and still on a liquid diet. I have been feeling fine.... Some tenderness but nothing that would hold me back. I was busy most of the day yesterday but felt okay last night. Today though I have a bad pain in my left side. If feels like when you walk/run too long or too fast and you get a stitch in your side. It has really bothered me all day today but not at all before today. Has anyone else had this?
  20. Yep, sounds like gall bladder
  21. I had surgery 7/31... My doc says liquid for 21days ... I have been trying different soups like butternut squash and Thai coconut tomato. Also had cream of chicken but had to strain out the bits and my yummy nectar protein shakes (holding sarcasm sign)
  22. The glue usually falls off on it's own in 2-3 weeks. Same with the steristrips.
  23. You are not supposed to use hydrogen peroxide on healing wounds because it will kill the new healthy cells that are so important. A little puss is normal and does not mean it is infected. If it gets really red and hot and the diameter gets larger then it may be infected and you should call your doc. They don't like you using neosporin unless they say either.
