Unjury- Soup?!?!
I like the idea of adding unflavored to chicken broth. I think that will be the plan for me. Thank u :-)

Pre-Op Depression.
I think many of us share these feelings with you. You are not a failure - I see it more as courageous. For Pete sale you made it through a bad marriage and survived! That's not easy and now you have the person you are meant to be with. This will happen for you. Always think positive. I share the same fears of insurance games but it is what it is. If you have a good doc they will fight for you. Just go with the flow. It will be here before you know it

Here We Go!
Awesome news Chad! What is it about parents that we struggle with telling them decisions we make. Interesting that their approval does mater - even as adults - (not saying you wouldn't move forward). I find this to be soooooo true in my life and quite frankly does hold me back with various stuff. Anyway- so great to hear! Hopefully your week will go by fast - I go in next Monday and that will be the day that they send my stuff in to insurance. I am hoping for a sept 10 date. Lots of positive thoughts to you

August 31St - Big Day!
All I know is that I sampled the unjury chicken Soup and about puked at the smell of it. I'm discouraged to hear about the unflavored unjury because I planned to get that to add to stuff. As far as Vitamins go- I ordered mine from Celebratevitamins. I also liked their chocolate milk Protein shake. I usually hate that stuff but thought this was tolerable - in milk- not Water. If anyone has any ideas for unflavored powder anywhere else that would be good

Goal is: Not fat. To shop in normal clothes. To wear single digit sizes. To keep up with my kids. To not be in the 200's and to win the lottery.

Just Waiting....still
Justine13 posted a blog entry in You will not find "Justine" listed as a definition of patience in the dictonaryLord help the insurance company if I get a denial. I have absolutely no patience for this waiting game so if they wait more...... well, really, what am I reallllllly going to do? Nothing. Because I can't. So, I need to think positive right? Right. Hopefully next week goes quickly. I must admit, this week did. I look forward to my last visit on the 13th. Insurance company says it can take up to 2 weeks to review but usually only take one. I say do it in one day. Nothing wrong with a little encouragement. On that note- my daughter sprained her ankle pretty bad. A momma never likes to see her children in pain, no matter how old. SO that will occupy my time too. I keep wondering, once this is approved, my mind will actually be focused on the surgery itself. And GOD help those medical providers when I arrive........ VERSED is my friend. Except it takes about 4-5 times before it affects me as I fight it so much. Whatever, just give me the drugs. YIKES

Sudden Hopelessness.......
I understand that and it make sense of course. But if you're 400 pounds or 200 pounds your liver is fatty. My understanding is that the shrinkage occurs in the preop diet right before. That's all- I guess I was just trying to understand as it seems like a lot of stress. So how are you doing? Any more movement on the scale?

I Think I Want A Wls Buddy- And I Don't Care Where From. Any Takers? :-)
Yey! I love our buddies I love both of your insights, Shelli and Melanie. I'd LOVE to lose that amount Melanie in the time frame you have. I agree though, I don't wan to look sickly. My frien had the Roux en Y and for awhile there she looked so crinkled up- old and well, I'd rather be fat. THanks for being buddies xxxxx

Sudden Hopelessness.......
But isn't that more about the liquid phase right before the surgery? Doesn't really make much sense to me to make you lose now. hmmmmmm.

I Think I Want A Wls Buddy- And I Don't Care Where From. Any Takers? :-)
YEY! That's exciting for you! Nope, I don't have a date yet. I expect to have one (or a denial ) sometime mid-end of august (after my last visit on aug 13). The waiting is the worst part. My doc office tells me not to worry about it but I do....all the time.

I Think I Want A Wls Buddy- And I Don't Care Where From. Any Takers? :-)
That's a bummer about your friend I'll be your buddy This is an emotional experience to say the least but sooooo going to be worth it. Are you all done with your "pre" surgery stuff then?

I Think I Want A Wls Buddy- And I Don't Care Where From. Any Takers? :-)
Would LOVE to have you So we're about on the same time frame- I have one more nut appt and then they submit to insurance. Funny you mentioned a cruise. I'm planning my first cruise with my high school girlfriends for next July but I told them I'm not booking it until I have my surgery as there is no way I'm going looking like this So that's a tough question. Depends on how fast you have it? I'm hearing (others can correct me as I don't know this to be true) that at about 6 weeks or so you're feeling better and probably could do the cruise then? Really, I'm not of any help with this. WELCOME

When Can I Have A Beer?
I feel compelled to also contribute to this conversation given my background in behavioral health. But first, I must say, I like to enjoy a drink here and there as well But I thought I would share some very interesting research that is out about the increased rates of alcohol addiction of those who have had bariatric surgeries. Something to think about (I know I do and will continue to think about). It makes sense with a smaller stomach. I don't have all the details on it but I find it absolutely intriguing as what we know is that there is a strong genetic factor but with those with bariatric surgery, your risk goes up - even without the genetic factors playing a role (so if they do, I'm sure that it's even higher). Anyway- that's my lil' lecture (actually not trying to be). I JUST told my husband I think one day when I'm ready to have a drink I'll let mine fizz down. I love the Schmirnoff's- Grape. Tastes like Grape Jolly Good pop. But again, I'm not a big drinker. Maybe a handful of times per year at best. The truth is: I'm such a freak and will probably follow doctor's order to a "T" because I'll be too scared to do anything else.

Sudden Hopelessness.......
Yes, I'm feeling better. I talked with my PA and she told me not to worry about the insurance at all. So...I'm not..... as much I still feel the time is going so slow and really pray this goes through because if it doesn't then I don't know what I will do......

Sudden Hopelessness.......
Sorry you're struggling right now. I have a couple questions: why do u have to lose 10 pounds? What purpose is it serving (insurance company?) also- when do u have to lose it by? If it were me I would be so stressed about that. I would personally do nothing but Protein shakes and Water for a couple weeks of it meant qualifying for the damn surgery. Is it really hot where u live? If it is and you're anything like me - I'm not doing squat in this weather. So- Hang in there. Switch your thought process a bit. You already lost some of the 10 so youre on your way there. Don't you give up. If you give up. Then I'm giving up (how's that for guilt?)

When To Tell A Supervisor
Here's the deal - there is a lot of misinformation on here that I don't want to dispute. The best thing you could do is talk to your boss. I'm a supervisor and work for the government and can tell you this is exactly what I would want from an employee. Another option would to consider contacting Human resources anonymously and inquire more about what's in place. Good luck
-
When To Tell A Supervisor
No- I'm using it so it either is in place immediately OR at the discretion of your employer. I have a hard time believing its not in place right away. I can see the employer not providing paid time off.

When To Tell A Supervisor
What do you mean you don't qualify for FMLA? ISn't that a federal thing and everyone is entitled to so much per year before they can officially post your job? That sounds not right but maybe I'm wrong. Because I was going to say that it's none of their business why you're off of work if it's FMLA.
