  1. I am 49 and am also worried that it will be difficult to lose the weight. It is really helpful to hear all of the success stories.
  2. I am really early on this journey but I know my surgeon wants me to do 2 weeks ore-op diet with Optifast. I can have bars and soups too. Do you have any recommendations regarding flavors? Thanks
  3. It's so interesting how different people react to the c-pap machine . I can't use any mask other than the full face mask. I open my mouth when i sleep and felt like I couldn't breathe with the other mask. The nasal pillows kept falling out.I have severe sleep apnea and never realized how poorly I slept until I had the machine and was rested for the first time in the morning I have used it faithfully for 2 years but hope after surgery I will say good bye to it. I hope it gets easier for you.

  8. I'm 24/26 pants 2x-3x tops. I'm still preop so it is hard to imagine smaller sizes. My BFF told me she had a dream that we were shopping and I was a size 8. That would be awesome.
  9. Hi Stellar. We are neighbors! Glad you are doing well.

  11. I'm just starting the process so no surgery date yet. I had the consult with the surgeon and still have to complete the other evaluations . Myinsurance requires 3 month diet. I am hoping for March or April.
  12. I'm near Akron and am planning to have my surgery at Summa. How about you?
  13. I originally wanted the sleeve but my surgeon recommended rny because of Gerd he felt the weightloss would make a significant difference with my knee pain he also said he doesn't want NSAIDs with either surgery.
  14. Thank you for the info. It makes me feel better that it is not necessarily going to happen.
  15. Hi everyone I'm just starting this journey and am finding lots of helpful information here. It seems like many people experience nausea and vomiting. Is this really common? Is there anything that can prevent it? It is one of my biggest fears that after the surgery I will regularly feel sick to my stomach. Thanks
  16. Thank you DL Coggim. That is really helpful information that helps calm some of my fears.
  17. All of the above plus... Not having to worry about fitting in booths Being able to have a laptop on my lap Being able to comfortably move down aisles in an airplane Weighing less than my husband! Getting rid of some of my joint pain
  18. Because I have Gerd, my surgeon said Rny was the choice for me. I had wanted the sleeve b/c I have arthritis and won't be able to take NSAIDs after the surgery. He said the weight loss will make a difference itself and he doesn't recommend taking NSAIDs with the sleeve either. He answered all of my questions and I have confidence in him so I am now learning everything I can about rny.
  19. I could have written your post! My surgeon told me the same thing so now my focus has completely shifted. I am so grateful I found this site.
  20. I have FED BCBS standard option. Can anyone tell me the difference in costs between standard and basic options? I'm in Ohio but I don't think that makes a difference. Thanks
